There is a lawyer, Richard Hornsby, who wrote about possible misconduct regarding Melich if you are interested. You have to scroll way down or hit control F and find the heading "A Brief Interlude".
http://blog.richardhornsby.com/

I think Melich is awesome. I also think the Defense team is planning to try to rip out his jugular, metaphorically speaking.

Aw yes.....but then you have to consider the possible motivations behind these opinions.....

I am personally looking forward to reading this defense attorney's advice, in blog form, to the defense on the best approach in filing an appeal when their client is found guilty....

Defense plan against Melich will be yet another KERPLUNK!

SO they're maybe going to try to make Melich the next Mark Fuhrman?

They can blame everyone else in the entire world for how things were handled and such but the evidence just keeps coming back to ICA. It just goes to show the self importance this team and ICA have for themselves. Who in their right mind will believe that YM was willing to risk his reputation and career for Casey Anthony. There is just too much real evidence out there to think this was even necessary. I hope since your calling a press conference its for something we could actually believe.

Here's how I think this will go:
CM: As you know, I have asked the court to postpone the Greer trial, which I will win, BTW, if you have any doubt. The court obliged me, knowing that I have a date, a date, a very important date in May, going down a rabbit hole."
KB: So that's it? Have you and Jose made any attempts to look at the search records y-"
CM: Don't you have to get your hair highlighted or something?
KB: Yet? I'm just wondering if you and Jose, after all the motions..."
CM: Look, this is my press conference. Not yours."
KB: Why won't you answer the question?
CM: Why don't you ask me a question that is germaine to this press conference?
KB: Ok. How are you planning to get your client off on the charges of fraud, racketeering, and..."
CM: I'm not representing the Anthonys, Kathi, come on.

Or it will be all about Greer and Mason will use this as an attempt to make some more trifling remarks about YM and his credibility as a K9. He does like his own humor.

Yes, an appreciative audience of one.

Here is a quote from Hornsby's blog:
"I have taken a lot of flak lately for my criticism of Yuri Melich, the lead investigator in this case. (I mean , what detective doesn’t actively BLOG about an ongoing murder investigation – See WFTV: Detective Told To Stop Blogging About Case.)"

What Hornsby wrote is FALSE and misleading! moo - YM never blogged about the case. Yes, he came here to thank us for the well wishes after he broke his leg but he NEVER said one word about the case.

I think it's interesting that a year ago, every news station in Orlando would have been making the Baez press conference their headline news by now..
Are they backing off so Baez can't get free marketing for his circus shows? They all cover the case still, but they don't seem to be scrambling everytime Baez looks for attention.

(shrugs) Just a guess. Remember how they got rid of Judge Strickland for no real reason, and that was related to blogging. HA! I love how that blew up in their face.

This is a little different though. I remember the great Lawyers on this thread pointing out he had no choice, really, and the defense could say anything without Strickland getting a hearing or a chance to respond.

If they do try this tactic on Melich, I hope it blows up in their face the same way their other ill-conceived plan did.

That's what I was thinking as well, reading about the JVM show. I didn't get to see it, but there have been many comparisons made with the ICA trial and the OJ trial. After watching the bond hearing, listening to JB make an absolute prat of himself trying to attack YM, nothing he might say would surprise me. Disgust, yes.

So, anyone who watched JVM, do you think JB will try and make a big to-do about YM on WS?

I'm wondering if it might be 2 separate press conferences?

Could be. It'll be a busy morning for Mason. We'll have to see where his Greer press conference is held.

I'm still of the opinion that no one should show up when they call a press conference.

As much as they say they are going to try this case in a courtroom, they sure do like the media when they want to use them.

BBM
Exactly!!! This would explain the FLAK!!:banghead:
But in the same breath, RH wrote that YM gave erroneous info to the press. Ehm, Kettle, meet black.

Can you even ask for a mistrial before a jury has been selected?

Kimmer,
Best I have found so far is page 81- under sanctions of the Criminal Rules of Procedure - Florida
http://www.floridabar.org/TFB/TFBResources.nsf/Attachments/BDFE1551AD291A3F85256B29004BF892/$FILE/Criminal.pdf?OpenElement

(n) Sanctions.
(1) If, at any time during the course of the proceedings,
it is brought to the attention of the court that
a party has failed to comply with an applicable discovery
rule or with an order issued pursuant to an applicable
discovery rule, the court may order the party to
comply with the discovery or inspection of materials
not previously disclosed or produced, grant a continuance,
grant a mistrial, prohibit the party from calling
a witness not disclosed
or introducing in evidence
the
material not disclosed, or enter such other order as it
deems just under the circumstances.

So, maybe???? I found some cases in other states where a mistrial was declared prior to a jury seated - it just seems odd choice of words - seems it would be a motion to dismiss or something else.
Not an attorney and don't play on on the internet or TV so I will yield to IRL attorneys for final answer!

No one would show up if it was billed as CM on Greer alone. I wonder if this is some sort of media test to prove their point that the Casey trial receives too much media, in a backwards sort of way...

Yes, I know. There's other stuff there too. I linked it mainly to show how the defense might use certain things to try to get rid of Melich. That's exactly how they work, take false and misleading information and try to discredit the fact that Casey killed her daughter (fact is my opinion).

Didn't JB and CM just call a press conference recently with breaking news that they had been in a meeting with the judge and to call BCa big girl's blouse? oh, THUD, that!

i wonder if it has something to do witht this:

Murder Docket Updated:

09/13/2010 Notice of Filing Affidavits of Service

In the article on cfnews13 about Mason's other client, Jim Greer, it states:

Mason has a news conference scheduled for Tuesday morning where he's expected to talk more about the case.

So they're covering 2 cases with one press conference?

http://www.cfnews13.com/article/news/2010/september/150510/Jim-Greer’s-trial-continued-until-next-year

It wasn't stated where Mason would be giving his conference, but the Sentinel said JB was giving his conference at his law office.

Could he have been a teensy bit jealous that Yuri frequented WS?

(And for whoever is reading here, by "frequented", I mean, came by for a visit. The only thing he "discussed" was his motorcycle accident.)

Me too. I admit I haven't been following this as closely as before but I am having a hard time believing misconduct from Yuri. Sounds like more JB spew to me........

I caught a little bit of it in one of the articles in the past couple of days, but haven't had time to join in the discussion of it. It made me very angry when I read that JB is trying to cast Yuri in a bad light and question his integrity and character. I don't believe it, not for one minute! This is a desperate defense attorney who's casting blame on everyone but his client............the guilty one.
