I was under the impression that Baez was referring to the "team" of J. Barrett and her investigator Mort since they often visited KC together?

J Barrett was the mitigation "specialist"
Mort ? was the mitigation "investigator"

??

I agree. Reading the Budget Motion that Finnell filed - she is asking for 100 more hours from the same mitigation specialist (Jeanene B.) who has already been approved by the court.

Finnell says she needs a P.I. - but says nothing about the P.I. already approved by the Court (Mort S), or the Defense P.I. Jeremiah Lyons.

MOTION TO DETERMINE REASONABLE BUDGET FOR DUE PROCESS COSTS IN A CAPITAL CASE AND MOTION TO INCUR CERTAIN SPECIFIED COSTS

Cindy wrote in a letter to Inmate Anthony that Jeanene B. had visited with Sonnie and Uncle John and the Anthony grandparents (in Florida) on January 30, 2010.
Jeanene B. met with Grandma Shirley P. on January 31, 2010 (in Florida).
Jeanene B. visited with Cindy and George on Nov. 25, 2009

And didn't we recently see an updated billing to JAC for investigative services in the month of September, meaning SOMEONE is currently "investigating" for the defense?????? :waitasec:

I'm glad to see that JAC is opening their eyes and
pulling their purse strings nice and tight!

Ooooo, me too! Can't wait to read this motion. The Sentinel reports the motion argues that since the defendent doesn't have just one pro bono attorney, but a private attorney (Baez) who was paid a fee, the travel costs for any additional attorneys should come from the fee the lead attorney received. It's overhead, not direct costs, doh Baez!

This new crackjack lawyer had just had her first problem in this case.

Thanks Jomo - just read the response the JAC wrote in response to Ann Finnell's request for funding.

The JAC sounds a bit "techie" when this was written - pay the expenses yourself Baez, you are privately retained and are responsible for the overhead expenses of any other lawyer you choose to bring on.

Going to be interesting to see if they approve further hours for the mitigation specialist also - got the feeling they think 384 hours are enough.

Oh oh - they want Baez to write a justification for these expenses - hope he gets some behind the scenes help - we know the written word is not up there on the scale of his abilities.

I'm glad they're making them find out what the cost is and then submit it. Why in the world would they be given a flat sum of 1k for making copies for heaven's sake?? Get them done, then submit for the bill. It shows a total lack of respect for public funds and sloppiness in general. I expected more from furtive Finnel.

Does this involve Jeanine B. returning to Ohio? I thought she already spent time there as ThinkTank noted. What's up in Ohio?

To me it looks like it's Finnell who now wants to travel to Ohio to review the witnesses or information there from ICA's earlier school days, etc.

We know the mitigation specialist has already spent time there, so I guess Ann wants to go and reconfirm her work.

I don't think Casey ever attended school in Ohio, she was barely 3 yrs old when they moved to FL.

WA - MUST you make me look like a idiot on a Monday afternoon when my brain is fuzzy and I'm trying to pretend I'm working? LOL!

Duh, thanks. Brain left in a jar by the door.

Gotta say that I laughed hard when I first read her requests for $$$$, good luck with that. Another person attempting to capitalize on Calyee. When oh when will it end. Hopefully very soon. Glad the JAC isn't just handing $$$ out willy nilly and demanding accountability.

You know that wasn't my intention lg, :) I had to think twice about how old Casey was, and what year they moved.
Regardless, one would think that J Barrett has gathered more than enough info from her time spent in Warren Co Ohio.

Wonder if she's heard of phones, skype or video conferencing?? Sheesh it's 2010 now ya know!

Agree! And how in the world could it cost $1000 to copy ICA's medical and school records? There's barely anything to them. Didn't Cindy brag one time how KC was never sick (except the one seisure incident) and never had any mental health treatment. And as far as her education, she didn't have one!

Well Casey probably had more medical records than Caylee, who was neglected even before she was born.

JAC Response to motion to determine a reasonable budget for due process costs in a capital case and motion to incur certain specified costs:

CLIPPED FROM DOCUMENT

Although Attorney Finnell may not be charging the Defendant for her services, this is not a pro bono case; it is an Indigent for Costs case, where Lead Counsel has received a fee of $89,454.83

So does this mean Baez has been paid this amount or this is the total to date of what JAC has paid out in regards to this case for costs? :waitasec:

Perhaps of legal Sleuthers know, but do they have to photocopy these records?
Can they not be scanned or copied to a USB flash drive or CD?
