Thank you, Dafne! Great documentary. Says it was Oscar winning and I can see why. It is long (12 parts) but worth viewing. The end of part 12 summarizes what has happened since the trial.

My first thoughts were:
  • Thank GOD for Yuri, John Allen, Eric Edwards, Nick Savage, etal!
    HEART-1.gif
  • Casey would have been so much better off with a public defender like Pat McGuinness than her 'scheme team'. Mr. McGuinness doesn't seem to have an aversion to actually working. He did his own investigations - no taxpayer funded Lyons-types necessary. He and Finnell has studied the evidence. (I'm an in no way saying I believe he could have gotten an acquittal for KC. The evidence is overwhelming. They cases aren't comparable. I am just saying he appears to be far more thorough and competent.)
  • I kept thinking how CA, GA & LA all needed to watch this so they could see how christian parents who truly believe in their child's innocence behave. Incredible difference.
  • I am sure that after Friday's hearing Ann Finnell is only wishing she were working with McGuinness again.

I need to Google 'cause I would like to follow up on Brent. I don't want to give anything away but the very end of part 12 confirms the verdict was correct in the case covered in the documentary. I don't know what has happened since then though.

He was arrested in Indy for "felony criminal confinement and battery with injury, a misdemeanor." True waste of space.

"CRESTVIEW — Jimmy Ates again has been found guilty of murdering his wife Norma Jean Ates nearly 20 years ago. . .

"Ann Finnell, one of Ates’ attorneys, said logic should prevail in the verdict.

“The evidence shows this man didn’t kill his wife,” Finnell said. “He didn’t kill his high school sweetheart, the woman he lived with, the woman he bought property with, the woman he made a home with.

" . . . Finnell said there was no way Ates could have killed his wife; there was no motive for him to do it.

“Common sense tells you that this is absolutely ridiculous,” Finnell said. “How could a simple farmer like Jimmy Ates come up with something like this?”

So a simple farmer does not have the ability to think creatively. Seven times, whoa, that's a crime of passion. Sounds like he had plenty of itime to think about it until he actually shot her. jmo

"Simple farmer"... FAIL. "A child", courtesy of CM,... FAIL.

I just happened to put on the bio channel. Guess who was featured???

Anne Finnel, brought in a psychic to help her in defending Peter Johnstone...he was found not guilty of the murder of female Navy airman...

Florida attorney embodies goal for Georgia advocatesProponents of the Sunshine States public-defender system says its uniform and effective.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Peter Johnstone is a free man today, thanks in part to the work of defense attorney Ann Finnell.

"I knew that she trusted me and believed I was innocent, said Johnstone, who was found not guilty in 1997 of murdering a female Navy airman. "I havent seen that kind of dedication in my life before.

Finnell, whose work gained attention in the internationally aired documentary "Murder on Sunday Morning, has spent 24 years in the Public Defenders office in Jacksonville, earning a reputation as one of the citys toughest lawyers.

Her last three capital murder cases resulted in acquittals, and in March she helped win the highly publicized murder trial of former Florida insurance agent Arthur Picklo.

"She wont go into a courtroom until she knows shes going to know more than the other side, said fellow assistant public defender Pat McGuinness. "When she takes something to trial, shes not going in there to lose.

Justice for Caylee

http://www.cfnews13.com/static/arti...alty_phase_discovery_response-redact-0408.pdf

This is dated 4/7/2011...I never saw this motion it's for the penalty phase and it adds a Alex Green and Pam Gibbs...included updated addresses for Daisy Menendez and James DeWitt...do we know who these penalty phase witnesses are??? No depos as stated in the motion..JMHO

Justice for Caylee

I think MM had put this up in the Motion thread in a long list of things. Pam Gibbs is the mother of Lauren Gibbs, ICA's high school friend who used to watch Caylee until she found out ICA was lying about working at Sports Authority and was dumping Caylee on her to go party. I think Pam also watched Caylee occasionally. I have no idea who Alex Gree or the others are.

Speaker: Ann F. Finnell, nationally recognized defense attorney:

Most of the defense team's cost was pro bono or from dollars received from the media for photos.

The whole family each had their own lawyer fighting over book and movie rights.

Thanks SOTS,
That was, well wrong on so many facts. Wonder if it is the reporters fault or AF's rewriting history? Sheesh, their was no sniffer machine used in this case! GRRRR

the more I hear the more I am sure that the DT was just like anthony herself. I quite liked anne finnell, but unless whoever transcribed this wasnt much paying attn, it's like she knew nothing of the case at all.

child's size three shoes? <modsnip> that, so do I and it's not even that small as the sizes increase for vanity over the years. what about the tiny size of CAYLEE'S shoes, that she wasnt wearing when her "tiny adult" mother murdered her?

The trial came to a sudden stop one weekend ,we all speculated, thinking maybe CM or JB was going to withdraw.Ann Finnel showed up the next trial day,but then disappeared again.
We then find out the trial was stopped to have Casey evaluated for competency. So AF either made that call based on what she was seeing,or the DT called her and asked for advice.
Wonder if the jurors even know about that now.
BUT,Casey was deemed competent. So she was competent to carry on,but not to call 911 when her daughter supposedly drowned.

So now Finnell fancies herself an expert on mental illness. Ugh.
Oh no, Horace, she calls in the psych experts for that. She's an expert at using language that makes the jurors have doubt about the defendants mental status.
AF laid the groundwork for JB's opening statement during jury selection. She was a part of the sham ,maybe even the architect :maddening:

I was neither here nor there about Ann Finnell during the jury selection (except thinking she was extremely boring) but heard from other posters she was a straight up lawyer with a good reputation.

So I was sort of impressed with her until her completely stupid press release after the trial, saying there was no evidence against FCA. Now I find her as offensive as the rest of the DT.
