2010.10.20 - PI Lyons Accused of Witness Tampering

Can Baez get in trouble for what his investigators do?

I'm not a lawyer, but I found this:

Lawyers generally employ assistants in their practice, including secretaries, investigators, law student interns, and paraprofessionals such as paralegals and legal assistants. Such assistants, whether employees or independent contractors, act for the lawyer in rendition of the lawyer’s professional services. A lawyer must give such assistants appropriate instruction and supervision concerning the ethical aspects of their employment, particularly regarding the obligation not to disclose information relating to representation of the client. The measures employed in supervising nonlawyers should take account of the level of their legal training and the fact that they are not subject to professional discipline. If an activity requires the independent judgment and participation of the lawyer, it cannot be properly delegated to a nonlawyer employee.

Wonder if Mark is burning some night oil on this and we see a motion filed shortly on behalf of TES?

I don't think that NeJames will have to burn any oil over this ~ the guy is pretty sharp, and, I'm sure that he has been sitting back waiting for this very thing to happen.

He's had his ducks in a row for a long time, and when he lets those ducks loose, I wouldn't want to be on the recieving end of his wrath.
The man knows his business, and, he will have some heads on a platter in a New York Minute over this.

Actually, I bet that NeJames is tee-heeing in absolute GLEE that finally, there is ammunition to start taking these ______ down, and hard at that.

I'm not surprised in the LEAST! After reading fla*mom's posts last week and her concern, I knew the searchers were in for it.

There is no chance that LE will NOT investigate this. I'm going to just sit back and eat .

It will be interesting to watch the defense try and justify all of this...

Yup! They are desperate...
desperate I think that is an understatement. Still can't figure why they aren't putting some of that energy in to finding the magical Nanny !!!!

Not sure if anyone remembers this one.
In 2008 the Defense told the media they had sent a PI out of state to interview a guy who took a picture of Casey and Zanny at Blanchard park but looks like he became invisible too.

Fox35 Orlando Tuesday October 7 2008
"Private investigators working for her attorney Jose Baez are out of state following up on something they say is significant.

Jose Baez’s spokesperson Todd Black tells fox 35 their investigators are out of state talking to a man and getting pictures of the Zenaida Gonzalez Casey says took Caylee.

Black says the picture was taken at a park and has all involved parties in it: the woman they say is the Zenaida Fernandez Gonzalez, Casey and Caylee. No information at this point when this picture was taken.
And black says they have been trying to find the man who has the picture for weeks and they just located him and got in touch with him. (source)"

Here is the FL Witness Tampering Statute, this could apply to LB too: http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes...4.22&URL=0900-0999/0914/Sections/0914.22.html

Could Baez possibly find any shadier people to work for him?

ummmmmmmmmmmm.........NO.
It has his stench all over it.

Thank you.

Is this the same PI that interviewed Marinade Dave which led to Judge Strickland's stepping down? Sorry if this has already been mentioned on this thread but I didn't see it discussed.

I saw that on the news just a about an hour ago. Even the news only had a shot of him from the back. What a slippery guy. I feel for those two guys they had on the news. Well anyone who comes in contact with him.

Here are the photos of the back of J Lyons.
Fla*mom - could you please tell us if the man in the blue shirt, sitting in the audience, in front of Jim L., at this May 11, 2010 Hearing is J Lyons?
Did he have a goatee when he visited you?

See post #29.
I believe that is who fla*mom is alluding to, yes.
I didn't realize that.

Interesting? Indeed.
Surprising? No.

I thought her brother was an internet PI Could this dude be Andrea's brother? She writes and gushes about him, iirc, what a lifesaver he has been on her cases.

On her website, she has a link to Internet Sleuth, that is his, her brother's company, iirc

His name is listed as Jonathan, not Jeremy, so they may be two different men, afterall.

I thought it was A Lyon (no s) and J Lyons (with s), but I may be thinking wrong.

ETA - Oh, I just got it - you were talking about the man in the picture. Sorry.

And didn't GSJ also complain she was contacted by this PI and pressured to change her story, or did I misread that last week?

You are right she did say He kept calling her and calling her. She was getting irritated that he seemed to be trying to get her to say something different than she was really saying.

There was also the blogger guy who said that Lyons was smooth as butter and was pretty slick at getting him to talk.

See post #29.

Isn't GSJ the psychic Gayle (forget her last name.) I was thinking of the PI who schnookered Marinade Dave into talking about his 'relationship' with JSS. IIRC, MD said the PI was smooth as butter and pretty slick (not verbatim.)

ETA: Just googled and yes, seems this Jeremy Lyons is one and the same PI who created the ruckus with MD and JSS stepping down. Oy vey.

Wow!

This is disgusting that the Defense are stooping to these tactics but good that it is coming out and backfiring on them. ICA's tactics?

Desperation is the byword.

This is what MD wrote about JL:

When private investigator Jerry Lyons came calling last Sunday, I had no idea of the tack the defense would ultimately take. The guy was as smooth as butter. To be truthful, he was exactly like a car salesman who loads you up with all the options without you knowing it and before long, you pay a huge price. First, he plied me with compliments about my blog. Then, he asked me whether Casey could get a fair trial in Orlando. He questioned my friendship with police, especially Sgt. John Allen of OCSO. He segued into the judge and before I knew what he was doing, he got me to talk. Mind you, as soon as I realized what he was up to, I told him the defense would be stupid, stupid, stupid for going after Judge Strickland and I stopped. But it was too late.

lol at Marinade Dave...always a victim and always in the spotlight. Disgusting.

My advice for anyone else should he come knocking on your door is to advise him that YOU will be recording the conversation. Then, DO IT. If you don't have a recorder handy, set another time to talk to him when you do have one. If he balks at being recorded, don't talk. But whatever you do, ADVISE HIM THAT HE IS BEING RECORDED.

This is interesting and I am not surprised in the least but it is going to be hard to prove. Granted there are 2 volunteers saying that he pressured them to change their stories, but still they have to prove it.

The biggest plus (best evidence if they can prove it), is that he misrepresented (lied about) one of the searcher's testimony to the other one. ("...engaged in misleading conduct toward another person").

Hands up if this one is even moderately a surprise....

NOT EVEN CLOSE TO MODERATELY! LMAO.

I can see the NG headline now,
Bombshell tonight,
Another Lyin' Lyon
with Sue Moss saying,
"Lyin' Lyon's
leaves KC cryin'"

Guess no one on the defense team can use Photoshop after all.
