Maybe JA was laughing because LDB let go of her collected composure!
She was sooooo POed - it was pure awesome.

LDB: Warrior Princess.

What blew me away... at the end of the hearing, HHJP told JB he thought they were doing an excellent job!!!! I'm like WHAT????

I literally fell out of my chair, my co-workers were about to call the funny farm on me! I was screaming in my office and they heard the thump when my chair went over.

HHJP soon put her in her place though- when she recited all the mitigating factors, he commented that he'd done a couple of capital cases before so she didn't need to spell it out for him. That shut her up.

Oh, I definetly think Ann Finnell got the message HHJP was sending. She looked taken aback to me. Unlike CM or JB, I do believe that woman got the message loud and clear.

HHJP filled her in on what $$$ he had already allocated for investigators, mitigation, and even advised her of the deadline for depo of penalty phase witnesses.

IMO HHJP did a great job of gently shutting down the circus and getting them focused on the trial.

JB and CM came in with their typical arrogance and entitlement, playing the DP card but HHJP started to close off the avenues.

He was not too strict ... yet ... but he is going to get stricter and stricter at each subsequent hearing and as threatened -- will take over if need be.

It is time for the Defense to focus and get organized ... time to pay the piper.

Just keeping them on board, like a school teacher after reprimanding and reigning in ... you offer some praise to take the bite out of it.

Personally, from the little bit I saw from the new "lady" lawyer.....she is is a different class that the other two clowns on the DT. But.....it's too late. She can't help this ship from sinking.

ITA. She seemed very well-spoken. I could understand every word she said and I didn't drift off out of boredom. She won't have an impact on the trial though unless KC is found guilty. She may save KC from the needle but a life sentence would be okay with me too.

Nothing about the Grund depos, other than the deadlines are the deadlines

Well...uh... isn't that deadline TOMORROW? lol

One thing I really loved was when AF was talking about needing to interview people in Ohio regarding KC's childhood... HHJP asked how old she was when she lived there... I thought he would choke when AF answered! HHJP said, "One to three??"

Hahahaha!!

I believe he was amused by the absurd allegations made by the defense that they have not been provided all of the discovery documents.

That's what I was thinking it might be because LDB was pretty fired up at that point.

Trying to sort out from memory all the TES statements tossed out there today...

Was Mason still insisting they had 150 more than the 32 who TES said searched Suburban?

My first impression of her is that I like her. She doesn't seem arrogant.

ending on a positive, exactly.

Anyone else see Casey crying as she was led away?

I think that was only to soften the dressing down he had just done to both sides. I think JP thought JB might cry if he didn't smooth his feathers a little!!!!!:innocent:

Exactly what I thought! He didn't really mean it I am sure, I think his patience is wearing very thin.

This hearing was gold! I know I say that after every hearing but this was one of the best.

Baez got pwned
Mason got pwned
Ann Finnell got pwned
There was one moment about half way through that Casey was upset about something and nearly lost it, Baez asked her if she was okay and she shook her head yes. I can't remember what was being discussed will have to catch it on a rerun.

LDB was a WARRIOR - for truth and to try and attempt to put a stop to unscrupulous behaviour - or just flat out lying by the defense.

Jeff Aston cracked a joke (the little sweetie) that he liked working with LKB and came off all calm and composed.

At one point I thought Baez was going to chew the side of his face off - I was transfixed, I have never ever seen him like this - I think he knew he was up to his armpits in some deep poo poo.

Mason better take the marbles out of his mouth come the trial or the jurists are just going to switch off.

All in all a humdinger of a hearing!

Awesome summary, and I agree with everything. :blowkiss:

Beach - I got the distinct impression JP was saying "are you sure you want to to this?"!!!

Specifically how HHJP dropped the fishing expedition with the TES, I was truly shocked the State said nothing. They had their opening to stop the nonsense.
I think the State was smirking inside and remained silent due to the fact that it was notable in the court room that HHJP had Baez number, aka - "fishing expedition".

The State is very familiar with HHJP, his mannerisms and his quips. They knew that HHJP had it under control. :)

HHJP was just taking some of the sting out of the bite.
