2011.01.25 Baez Unavailability and Correspondence

Before when Baez filed a Notice of Unavailability, he also filed it for all his other open cases. I'm not seeing that occur this time. Is he being "selectively" unavailable only for the Anthony case?

Yup, that's been my experience every trial I've ever worked on. Even sleep was a precious commodity. I remember working until 3 am on day only to get up and be back at 8 am and do it again.

At my firm the receptionist makes a call over our speakers on our floors at closing time indicating that food will be ordered at a certain time for dinner. And that's every night. That should tell you that the legal field requires long and tedious hours, even when NOT preparing for trial.

Yes. We always were fed extremely well and on company dime! sweet. However, my home folks would drive me crazy calling "what's for dinner", "when are you coming home?" Finally took its toll on me after 25 years!

Any guesses as to what this is about? I wonder why he's unavailable? I didn't think any hearings or anything were scheduled for this time period, but I could be wrong. Here's hoping Muzikman gets us the documents soon!

I don't like the sound of Baez on another vacation though. He sure takes a lot of those. :furious:

I can't believe he'd vacation on basically the eve of the trial of his life.

Good for Baez. From the looks of things, he's going to need a LONG vacation. He may even need some extensive counseling after this trial is over. JMO, of course.

I get those calls and texts frequently. How do you politely say that you'll be home when your damn work is done ...

It does take its toll. My firm understands that toll. They give us 5 weeks off per year (well at least to me due to my tenure). But even then it's hard to "recharge" on your vacation time, especially when you work those tough hours for trial.

"The defense would like to have the opportunity to meet with experts Reichs and Rodriguez prior to them rendering their opinions as they may have additional opinions after review of additional material. The Defense will have a unique opportunity in the very near future and is requesting an additional 45 days....."

Is there some type of seminar or convention that Reichs or Rodriguez will be attending or speaking at that Baez is planning to attend (hence, unavailability request)?

Baez stated in doc that Reichs has been traveling extensively and he hasn't been able to pin her down....is he going to "stalk" and "corner" her in a very near future seminar in the hopes of obtaining "additional opinions" based on "additional material" he plans to carry with him?????

I know Kathy Reichs is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciene and I bet Dr. Rodriguez is too. As Nore noted upthread, the annual meeting is the same week as JB will be unavailable. When he said a 'unique' opportunity, it is possible a number of his other experts will be attending the meeting too.

I have a feeling Baez can get in touch with them, but this is his way of saying "Hey!!! I'm trying, but they aren't responding" it's all B.S imo

He had no problem sending his P.I to knock on doors when TES searchers didn't answer phone calls. You would think his expert witness would be worth the effort to track down, in one way or another.

It's a game. Imo
