I am still confused as to why Spitz's medical issue, er, chicken bone, is so top secret in JB's mind? Who cares? Is he facing ridicule for having a medical situation now that its out? Does his medical condition mean he is rendered incapable or less qualified? Why all the secrecy on JB's part about this? Who cares?

I do not believe Baez cares about Dr. Spitz' privacy regarding his two surgeries and medical emergency. I believe Baez wanted to keep his Expert's serious condition under wraps longer, and intended to milk this for all it's worth to ask for extensions of time and DELAYS. Didn't work out that way though. Ashton alerted the Judge to a problem in this area, so Baez could not use Spitz as a delay tactic later.

Aedrys please forgive me.Church Lady ~ makes me think of Gilda Radnor.
I swear after todays meeting I'm losing it.

Wasn't Dana Carvey the church lady?? Or I'm losing it too! I know it's 6:30 and I still haven't stopped laughing over the hearing. Now I'm going to make some popcorn and rewatch!

I thought HiPPA pertained only to medical privacy within the medical setting.

It depends on interpretation, I know I couldn't schedule a dr. appointment for my hubby until the dr. had a signed release. JB apparently isn't familiar with the law or is being overly dramatic.

HIPAA laws, patient privacy.

What JB apparently doesn't know is that we have the motion about Spitz not able to testify at another murder trial: http://ftpcontent.worldnow.com/wxix/New Folder (4)/Widmer Motions 1-25.pdf

I get HIPPA, what I don't get is why Baez thinks the existence of a medical condition is secret or off the record when , as you say, Spitz has already had to make this known because of his unavailability on the other matter.

No one in court mentioned what exactly that codition is, simply that there is one, I believe the prosecution was attempting to give JB a little leeway on that one stating they are aware there is a medical situation. JB is the one who made the mountain out of that molehill by attaching some sort of secrecy to it. What an (area I am sitting upon at the moment)

YEP! and people were wondering IF the bar complaint MIGHT "effect" or have any impact on JB!....UMMMMM I do believe that THIS is a prime example! :floorlaugh:

Did Judge Perry get the number, or did Jose even say he would get it for him. I had to leave and missed the second half.

I came in from the barn just long enough to watch the hearing this afternoon. Went back as soon as it ended to find these cuties . Momma looked as shocked as I was.
A girl ,Perry and a boy,Belvin : ) I expect awesome things from them!

Exactly!! When asked JB at first threw out 6 weeks more were needed for this then 6 - 8 weeks!!

JB saw Spitz as the doctor who laid the perfect delay, delay, delay excuse.....

Hope JB has a plan B.

Yes, he got all the details at the very end of the hearing while JB was trying to pack up and make his escape!

I think JB has plenty of plan B's C's and D's

What he is lacking IMO is a plan A

(Plan A being an actual defense)

I was just reading the Orlando Sentinel's report of the hearing and had to chuckle when they said that Baez and Mason would not stop for any reporters questions, but Baez stopped to have a photograph taken with an 'admirer' ...

Thanks, nums24!

Everyone at WFTV looked very amused as they lead into the video report. KB was very perky. Some good footage (albeit very short) of Baez trying to blow her off as he rushed for the elevator. :D

(I suppose the CM utterances may have been censored b/c of prime family viewing hours? lol!)

:floorlaugh: I was totally thinking about Dana Carvey's church lady when I wrote my comment. I didn't know Gilda Radnor was a church lady too, LOL!

Why do I get the feeling that as soon as he found about Dr. Spitz, he was doing a happy dance because he had actual, solid, GOOD delay? LOL. He was probably wanting to kiss that chicken bone!

It is amusing to me that Baez bragged about using his own money to go to the conference (Feb 21-26) to meet with the Defense Experts, and he has most likely already paid for his registration for the conference ..... but the Judge did NOT allow him an extension of time on the Expert's reports, who Baez had hoped to meet at this conference which he has already paid for, and probably already booked a hotel room! Baez already put in a Notice of Unavailability for Feb 21-25th!

Excellent point! Thank you for filling in the blanks for me too. I did the best I could with the audio problems.

I did DVR INSession today, I will see what else I may have missed too.

The Judge told Baez to leave the name and number and submission number and submission letter with the Judge's Assistant.

Because in his widdle mind, that would be *one* thing he knew and you did not.

One.

Only one.

One, lonely little thing......

IMO, it was a misrepresentation to the court, yet again.

Spitz has had over 2 years to provide, he did not become ill until (12/24/2010) after the reports were originally due on 11/30/2010. He was covering his butt. I thought the SAO was too generous today with this too.
