How long will she stay silent? Good question.

I actually thought she was going to stay away from Shawn for longer than she did. She takes the No Trespass out on Friday and is seen with him on Saturday night? LOL

I think LE knows how to get her talking again. All they have to do is leak something new that makes her look bad, anything, and she will start <modsnip> dialing her media contacts, imo.

My brother is an attorney and he has stressed over and over to my daughter, (she got into a little trouble), that the police are not her friends. That's not him be lawyery, that's him knowing what he's talking about. Buddying up with cops and being honest just doesn't pay off. If they think you're guilty, you can't change their minds by blabbering on. & then you're just left angry & with an attitude. It's best to let an attorney do the talking. Attorneys aren't just for the guilty. They do more than try to get guilty people off and cut deals. They help protect the innocent. MOO.

I agree. My brother is an attorney and so was my Dad. They both have friends in LE, but they say the same thing. Shut your mouth and contact your attorney. Even if you are innocent.
Of course, imo, a 'missing child case' is wholly different. You should keep communication open in those cases.

We don't discuss minors here.

Toombs says her case will now be turned over to the county attorney.

That's an interesting thought and where would CD fit in there? IIRC last time I looked the house was in his name only.

Billie's name is on the next line. It's in both names.

Texas is a community property state anyway. It shouldn't matter if her name is on the title or not. Legally, everything is 50/50 in a marriage no matter whose name it's in.

Well, that could keep the lawyer paid for the next 2 weeks or so!

  • #210
Do you think he will be asking for a change of venue?

Right now she just has silly little inexpensive charges. I doubt her retainer is high.

Here it would be about 1200. I doubt she is paying her lawyer for anything other then for the representation on the 3 recent charges. yet. She should have had a lawyer from the first poly.

I'm assuming she retained this attn because she is now facing charges (her arrest). Any attn worth his/her salt would tell her to keep her comments to herself about any other investigation she is involved in as well. JMHO

I'm curious as to who is paying this attn's fees, who this attn is and what's their focus of practice (like for example: criminal, drug charges, traffic charges...etc). What town and county this attn is located.

She needs an attn for the drug charge and the obstruction charge for sure IMHO.

Does anyone know why it is that she would not have requested a public defender for those charges? TIA

I wouldnt of either. A bad PD is worse then not having a lawyer. She may be afraid the whole town is on a witch hunt. I could see her thinking that.

Back up this thread earlier [ or maybe another thread ] it has been discussed
that this attorney is quite experienced in a wide variety of criminal cases. he is even eligible to try DP cases, so he seems to be here for the long haul. He is way more than necessary for her 3 menial charges. I think he is here for the whole shebang.

Wait, so it was only a no trespassing order on her house? Well, then, the logical thing is to wait until the next day and go meet up with him elsewhere. And then do it again the day after that, looking for someone! OMG!

*headdesk* Good thing she got a lawyer. She really needs it!

Dang I'm so late to this shindig, I'm still at the front of the thread....I just wonder is there is a lawyer and a psychiatrist willing to take BD on because IMHO she reeellly needs BOTH!

  • #216
I find it interesting that BD's lawyer is a bigger gun than SA's lawyer, since SA is the one who appears to be the main suspect in Hailey's case. Not that I believe he is or the only one. MOO.

Hmm..mnn! DP cases ...time someone mentioned the possibility!?:waitasec:

IMO she was pretty smart to go ahead and retain the attorney that she did with all of his advertised experience. Before this is over she will probably need every trick and scrap of knowledge he has! To go with a pub def at this point would mean having to tell alot of background to another person.... it looks like she knows she has much bigger problems than these misdemeaners (sp?)...now she will only have to tell her sad tale once this guy can take her all the way through the death penalty.
