speaking of using carbon, like you do in a fishtank to filter air.

What a breath of fresh air he is!! :)

I agree...I am truly enjoying Dr. Vass's testimony..and as far as his accent...I luv it :innocent:

I see one thing standing out for me at these hearings!.......:great:

Mr. Baez's witnesses have the same level of expertise and presentation as he does.:loser:

And Jeff Ashton and Linda DB's witnesses have the same level of expertise and presentation as they do!:rocker:

Now - imagine that!! Who'd have thunk it?:waitasec:

the study used four buried bodies.

hahahaha my husband is googling him now "whoa, he's famous! he even has a wiki page!"

Clandestine graves found w cadaver graves, ground sensing radar , probing techniques. He is not expert in those areas but generally familiar (Vass says he is good at probing - laughs).

Most productive methodology is trying to understand cadaver dogs - try and understand odor signature coming from soil. Used 4 subjects different ages and sizes buried at different depts and put gas collection system below and above body to determine how gases exit. Sampling ports on tips with triple sorbant traps (activated carbon) and air analyzed. Triple sorbant trap modified from other areas of science. Air put into mass spectromenter . Studied from 2002 - 2006.

Fellow WSers...is this not the best questioning/testimony that we have heard thus far?...two very intelligent men who have respect for each other and both speak clearly!!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

there are a lot of environmental factors that affect how these compounds are liberated from the body. ~voss

What year did you publish these findings 2003-2004

The point of the first paper on the broad sense of the classes of compounds that are found...

for as educated as he is and profession---he seems very down to earth---if that makes sense? Some just come off cocky....he doesn't....

Clear concise questions, clear concise answers - so this is what a real hearing looks like. :)

"paradigm shift" Dr Vass, reminds me of "big bang theory"

Interesting .
[ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arpad_Vass[/ame]

Vass has also put forward a proposal to search out human remains with the use of a fly on a leash

Collected data about surface decomposition. Voss had said this was a paradigm shift from previous ways.

  • #115
I like his familiarity with subsurface investigative methodologies and that he has a working knowledge of geological/geophysical data collection techniques applicable to his specific studies/discipline.

And I think her expertise is to discredit the forensics.

I think that's DCS's role, but perhaps AF is acting in auxiliary to her? Interesting to have the mitigation rep present for these hearings if not though - what could she gain for her portion? Otherwise, what a great learning experience is general

Yeaaaaaaaaaaa Dr........put us Tennessean's on the map once again!!!!!!!

O/T What's interesting is the TBI has an ME who testified at the Christian Newsom trial. She was so intellegent and nice, and ironically has almost the same accent as Dr. Vass. I can't remember her nationality. Alot of Tennessean LE made the state proud during those trials.

okay husband says vass is a hungarian name. it's the 60th most common surname in hungary, so his family is either hungarian or from a border country of hungary. (in hungarian it would be pronounced vahsh)
