2nd Pub by Dr. Voss in 2008 referencing another researcher from 2005 also from Forensic Scientific Journal (I forgot name). No significant differences (besides Voss found more compounds because they had more bodies).

Both Journal of Forensic Science articles by Voss were peer reviewed

Where were the articles submitted? To the general scientific community? Talking about the reviewing process of the papers and how the methodologies are checked.

Now this is a Frye hearing!!!!!

The judge seems particulary interested too. He keeps looking at the witness, then back to Ashton. When Baez was up (during the last witness testimony) I noticed the judge spent more time looking at his computer.

Nice!

Mel

one study looked for specific time points, whereas dr. voss's study was of the whole timeframe/process. Not just a "time slice".

Was your 2008 submitted for peer review. yes.

What is peer review? look at the objective of the paper. evaluate whether the methods are able to answer the objective. A control is a baseline for comparative analysis.

Loving HHJP as he takes in this questioning- he is moving his head from JA to Dr. V like he is watching a tennis game. This is awesome! I am totally hearting Dr. V and his articulate informed answers. Men of Science rock!

CJBP is totally tuned in here. It's like he's watching a tennis game--JA, to AV, back to JA, back to AV... He seems more engaged than I've seen him so far today!

(ETA--I owe a buncha you a Coke for that observation!)

Hi WSers!!!

Could someone please give me a link to the CNN live site? Seems CNN is the only site that will work on my laptop. Thanks!!!

PS: Just wanted to proudly say that Dr. Vass attended Virginia Tech!!!! Go Hokies! :)

http://live.cnn.com then click on the proper feed.

:twocents: HE IS! :twocents: :innocent:NOT cocky at all....wicked willing to SHARE scientific thoughts for the progression of justice!:seeya: :innocent: Read into THAT :truce: what one chooses!:innocent:

and the wife: no intellectual or personality slouch, either!:twocents:

Joypath........are you married to the good Dr.?:takeabow::blowkiss:

Vass has a wonderful sense of humor as well. YET, he knows how and when to use it, unlike JB, CM, etc.

Don't all the scientists have to go by the Scientific Method? Yes? There is no other way to say you are a professional.

None of this is junk science. Jose thinks this is junk? The body farm? and to even go after their individual expertise is laughable because right on the stand they show themselves to be more intelligent than Jose. IMHO.

2004 paper (Voss)- no substantive objections or challenges Voss is aware of

2005 paper (not his) - same

2008 paper (Voss)- same

I think the judge loves the law and likes to hear someone speak that knows what they are talking about and that is explaining it well as this witness.
