Syringe used to inject small amount of air from head space of can and put into GCMS and got info

Voss was surprised at chromatograph results (JB objects - hearsay - sustained) he had never seen chloroform being largest peak. Done 4 or 500. Then concentrated sample to see what else would appear.

wow - this is big - he's never seen a chloroform peak like this ever. wow

Checking carpet gases to see if that was the cause of the very high result.

I've never believed the chloroform theories but may have to rethink those.

I have never seen chloroform being the largest peak of any samples we shot in 20 years.

Wow, shocked at the level of chloroform.

What's ICA doing now?

OMG:

Dr Vass: I've never seen the amount of choloroform shot as in that sample

20 years at OakRidge, has NEVER seen chloroform as highest peak in ANY analysis he's done.

WOW!!!!

Vass: "I've never seen chloroform peaks that high."

wow.

Thank you Dr. Vass for so far backing up and vindicating my side of all the chloroform debates I have had in this forum. (Air imaginary high five!!!)

Off gases are the liberation of gases from the material you placed in this bag - in this case the carpet itself.

I wish we could have seen ICA's face when Dr V made that revelation.

What the heck is the defense going to do with this on cross????

A: We decided to concentrate the sample a little bit (for further testing)
We decided to remove the carpet and place it in a special bag (tedlar bag?)
Placed it in incubater for 10 - 12 days
to obtain carbons off gassing in the headspace.

the headspace is full of off gassed materials - gas is coming from the item you placed there. we were trying to get idea of what chemicals would be liberated out of the carpet. the bag was filled with room air - we ran controls for air in the lab. We still saw a major chloroform peak but 51 different compounds were identified using that procedure (from the carpet).

I like how the lab made sure this wasn't in error or had another cause and ran more tests.
