Isn't there a condition in the current reward of HD being returned safely? Maybe they are going to extend it. KWIM.

Here's link to her missing poster and all it has is $15,000 reward with an asterik behind it....and no reference thereafter. ????

So conference time is noon eastern then?

And this:

Colorado city manager says since Dunn’s arrest it has been tougher to investigated the girls disappearance. "Once persons have been arrested and have been charged arraigned or bonded once they receive counsel our relationship diminishes," Colorado City Manager Pete Kampfer went on to say a press conference is scheduled Wednesday to talk about reward money for information about Hailey Dunn's disappearance.

I don't get at all (not surprised about that, since it comes from Pete). His comment might make sense if BD had been charged with a crime against Hailey, but her charges are more to do with obstruction of an investigation type thing. I cant see how carrying out the hindering and false statement charges would effect the investigation into Haileys disappearance. There is no legal clock "ticking", so to speak, on any potential charges having directly to do with Hailey, as a result of the hindering/false statement charges. And further, it's not like BD was being cooperative before she got the attorney, either, so what the heck does he mean?

EXCLUSIVE: Officials Believe Hailey Dunn Is Dead; Reward Now For Her Whereabouts

As for community members of Colorado City, while they're praying for the best-case scenario, hope is fading for finding the 13-year-old alive.

"Most the community has been around it and heard enough about it," Kampfer said. "They're fairly well-educated to all the different aspects of it that, I like to say, that we're cohesive. There is a certain settled idea and being mature about what could have happened and what's actually happened. I don't think anyone would be shocked."

He said, "The mood right now is: 'Let's get this thing to a point of good prosecution and let's get it put to bed.'"

Pete seemed very intent that the family would not be allowed in to disrupt the news conference.

Do we know what members of the family were there?

Why do you think they were there???

  • #25
I think it was members of Clints family and i think they were there because the message about the press conference didn't get to them through BD's attorney like Pete had hoped and i think they read the headlines and what was being posted on facebook and though pete was going to announce they had evidence hailey was deceased...

  • #26
They probably there because they had heard about or read the news report, that LE believed that Hailey was deceased.
I doubt if any family members, other than Billie and Clint, through Billie, were notified.
I can see why they were not allowed in, they were probably pretty emotional.

I agree. That headline got out quicker than lightning. And Clint's family, I bet, did not know or had not been told. That's why he wanted them kept out of the live presser.

I imagine that Clint was probably there, and Hailey's Uncle, desperate to hear any information at all about Hailey and what is being done, what they have learned so far. Clint must be beside himself if he's being kept in the dark by LE and only hearing info 2nd or 3rd hand...or by media.

I can't imagine BD being there, now that she has an attorney. The press would have been asking them questions instead of PK.

IMO PK wanted to avoid having to dealing with any emotional family members or answer their questions.

I especially think that PK is lucky that he did exclude family, because I can imagine what would have happened next if Clint had heard PK say this following quote firsthand!!

"I hope the case is put to rest soon so I can get on with my life as being City Manager, Kampfer said." :banghead: from:

I think Clint might have clocked him. Hard.

But why wouldn't you want the family there?

Did they think if they shared what the PR was about with the family ahead of time that somehow the family would tip off the person this was directed at?

I'm perplexed by this...

that would have been sweet to watch on live TV but i don't want to see Clint in jail!!!!!

Well they did give the head sup to BD's attorney and pete said it would filter down from there to BD and CD.

I just don't think the info made it as far as Pete thought..

Kampfer's statement about getting on with his life as city manager reminds me of Tony Hayward's (former BP executive during the oil spill) who remarked “we're sorry for the massive disruption it's caused their lives. There's no one who wants this over more than I do. I'd like my life back."

I think they were assuming Billie would text Clint.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Well that bothers me even more - are they grouping BD and CD together via HER attny now? Weird....

Maybe trying to ENCOURAGE communication from BD to CD????

I have asked that you stop bashing Pete Kampher. I believe while it wasn't stated properly Pete Kampher does want to find a resolution to this case, so that the family the City and yes even himself can have closure. This is a very difficult time for the residents being in the midst of this criminal investigation as well as for family members who want answers.

Now while he did not say it exactly as I would have voiced it, move on. We are not going to disrupt topic threads like this. I have zero tolerance for this to continue which is why the presser thread closed.

We have had little news for 2 weeks. Talk about the case and not your dislike for Pete Kampher.

Oops sorry liltexan....didnt see your post 1st!

Sorry, GrandmaJ. I'll stop. But I still want to transcribe it for future reference. :)

It has always struck me as strange that it appeared LE isn't working closer with Clint. And the comment by PK today kind of confirms that they aren't. I have thought maybe, just maybe, they are closer than it appears and it's just being kept quiet, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Seriously, PK couldn't take 5 minutes to give Clint a heads up himself? He expected an attorney that is representing BD to make sure he knew?
