Sweet smell of dismissal in air for Phil Spector's lawyer in hubby-bottle-smash case

Jennifer Lee Barringer, Esq. May 17th, 2009 4:34 pm ET

Jamie:
As a former employee at the Innocence Project, as well as a frequent guest on your show, I want to thank you for commending and commenting on the noble work of Barry Scheck and Peter Neufeld, who have changed the landscape of the law. In an era where many people jump immediately to a presumption of guilt, often fueled by the media, your comment represents a return to a time where we may once again be innocent UNTIL PROVEN guilty. Calling attention to the thousands of actually innocent people, languishing wrongfully behind bars, should remind us all that the American experiment is not yet over and that we must work tirelessly to reaffirm our commitment to the constitional rights of citizens.
All the Best,
Jennifer Barringer

Nu - uh - ICA is not gonna like a gal who looks like that sitting giggling and chit chatting behind hands and heads together with JB at the defense table.

I believe there will be "Issues"....:furious:

Ruh-roh: Baez didn't visit ICA at all in February, and in March visited her for an entire 16 MINUTES.

I'd say there's trouble in paradise. With the trial approaching quickly, I would expect to see more visits, not none!

MOO

I just want to know why all the "secrecy." Why don't we know by now??

From what I understand, Judge Perry can deny the request, correct? We are five weeks away from trial!! The suspense is killing me!!

Yes, yes he most certainly can. I don't know how often it happens in FL though.

No but seriously--what if it really IS KC ditching JB?

OK OK, exhale all. No way no how.

IMO pigs would sooner fly than Casey getting rid of JB.

But then again, with this case, who the bloodly well hell knows???

But that visitor log was only current through March 9th:

"– by Express, The Caylee Daily on March 9, 2011" (last paragraph, same link)

Plus, whoever is withdrawing wrote a supporting brief. That pretty much eliminates JB. He doesn't write briefs. lol

I so heart you Beach.

You make a good point. JBs strength certainly is not motion practice. And he still can't properly cite case law to save his life. It drives me insane.

Write a brief? He thought it said include a brief. They're Haynes! highest quality! Only slightly used. :escape:

No seriously though. Now I am not so sure. I have been leaning towards CM. But having it pointed out that this request appears to come from KC, not from the departing lawyer may change things a bit. While yes it in theory could be any of them if KC is displeased. Or someone may have convinced her that doing it that way has a greater chance of getting the judge to allow the attorney to depart at this late date. But I can't escape the little nagging thought that that way of doing it is the only way that JB can get out. All of the others could file their motions to withdraw themselves. Only for JB does it have to come from KC.

Not that its worth too much more speculation. We will know soon enough. (for all we know it is probably all about some junior grade public defender that was assigned her case for 15 minutes before JB showed up.)

Wait, was the aforementioned brief, Brown and found in a RedBull can Friday near or at the Orlando Courthouse?

Nah! I think they had some extra briefs left over of Todd M's. It's not like he was using them. :innocent:

OK, rhornsby gave 100:1 odds that it is DCS. I guess that is a reasonable proposition, as she came across like a newborn giraffe on ice skates in her maiden courtroom voyage for the defense...

But I'd still rather see CM bow out and soft-shoe away...

It is very possible as I've said earlier. With this case, nothing would surprise me. I just think if it was Simms that she wouldn't have filed the memo in support.

I also think your description above of her performance was actually very kind and generous. She did NOT come across well, at all. And that's saying a lot with this team. I haven't been too impressed with any of her appearances in Court. I just think she's delving into an area that she's not familiar with. I believe she primarily deals with medical malpractice.

JSR, someday we may see her actual motion to be excused... scribbled at the last possible moment on a yellow legal pad grabbed from the clutches of the defendant... "Dear Your Honor Judge Perry, HAAAAAALP! Just have some mercy and HAAALP!" (Scribbled as she skates off into the boards on her gangly new criminal defense legs...)

Perhaps that hastily written stipulation may have been the deciding factor.

Maybe she told KC to button up her blouse last week and so KC said she had to go, lol. :floorlaugh:
