So is LP saying this was found in the AIR sample? He made it sound like it was an actual physical visible plant or bug...but it's a compound?
Terpenes are basically the majority of what Orange Essential Oil is composed of. Lime, lemon, pine oils also contain a large amount. BUT, it's really "oily", in nature, by itself. Think products that help restore "luster" to old wood, etc. I'm using "Goo Gone" now to remove adhesive from my shower - those darn non-slip decals...it's verrrrry "oily", so I would venture to say, IMO, it's probably straight Orange Terps.
In the "cleaning" products (Pine Sol, etc), essential oils are combined with "solvents", so the terpenes don't leave that "oily" residue, and an "actual" cleaning component, so to speak, for things like dirt....the "terpenes" (from the added Essential Oil) are what would help with removing the "other" type of gunk....and helps it smell "purdy" and give the consumer the feeling they've "cleaned" that area.
IIRC, terpenes were found in the trunk liner or under the fender (?) - like in an area similar to where our friend "Mr. Squirrel" was said to be "pryed" off of...the amount of terpenes from "plant" growth wouldn't be high enough to see the terpene "peaks" on the GC/MS. That has ALWAYS stymied me as to the comments, IIRC, in the report that the "terpenes" found could be from plants/foliage and weren't attributed to seepage from a citrus based cleaner used in the trunk.
Sorry for babbling...frushtrated Flavor Chemist syndrome.

The REAL point:
What has ALWAYS "stymied" me even more....why is LP soooo focused on the darn terpenes....does he like the way it rolls off his tongue??? Nobody else...I mean NOBODY else has even mentioned them again. He reminds me of the little dog that bit the mailmans leg and won't give up, no matter how hard he shakes his leg. I'm pretty positive he's still talking about them due to his theory of KC driving the car thru the bushes/plants in the wooded area where Caylee was found.
AND that darn "daisy chain"....aaaaack!!
(sorry Aedrys, posted after you...but was in the process of typing, so didn't look at other posts)
