In the very beginning of this case - IT WAS HUGE The media set up a webcam 24/7 on the front of the house that ICA and her parents lived in. We watched it constantly. There were protestors; some of those became combative; CA ended up waving a hammer wildly in the front yard one day; some lady came and stole their garbage that they put out on the street; GA turned the hose on a bunch of portestors one night; ICA was arrested on National TV during a prime time LIVE Nancy Grace show - LE pulled up in the yard with lights on...very right outta Hollywood scene!
So, yes, in the beginning of this case - the media coverage was huge and very much rivaled OJ's.
A whole bunch of us here have followed this case from day one (check out join dates - a lot of us signed up when this case broke).
This trial is going to be the trial of the decade if not the first half of this century - and for a whole lot of reasons.
The 24-hour webcam - I think it was Fox News - captured GA and CA at their worst.
In addition to capturing both of them engaging in confrontations with protestors, in front of their house, some of which became physical (GA turning the hose on people and CA carrying a baseball bat), one afternoon GA became very upset with a reporter-cameraman who had a lawn chair, umbrella, and small lunch-size ice chest, and was set up on the lawn area between the curb and sidewalk. It appeared he was in front of the neighbor's house and not actually in front of the Anthony house.
George was angry and he went over and torn the man's umbrella out of the ground and threw it. He kicked the ice chest and lawn chair over and then began to go after the reporter-camera man who was much smaller than GA. Someone stepped in and grabbed GA and restrained him from physically attacking the man. George was yelling, "I only touched him, I only touched him!"
In another incident, GA was angry and yelled "The body in my daughter's car was not my granddaughter!
A few hours after Casey was bonded out of jail (Aug. 21, 2008?) evidently GA, wanting answers, had a physical confrontation with Casey, and it took CA and GA's friend visiting from Ohio to restrain him. The 24-hour webcam captured GA leaving the house and yelling to reporters that he was going for a walk. A while later Lee got in the car and a few minutes later returned with GA in the car.
I think the defense will use the video footage of both GA and CA in their angry confrontations outside their home during the summer of 2008, and witness testimony regarding GA's confrontation with Casey, to show that both GA and CA are prone to physical confrontations.
