It's absurd that she was tried on these charges before the 1st degree murder charges. It was done expressly to be able to do exactly what you are doing here, in order to state that she is a convicted felon. We knew something was amiss with the defense when they weren't able to postpone this until after the trial for the more serious charges.

IM not sure elfie..but think it has something to do with Statute of Limitations..and timing of trial once charges were filed?...At the point of the filings, who knew how long the case would take for ICA's murder trial to come to fruition???...Maybe a legal eagle could clearify on that point TYIA:waitasec:

And CM needs to stop acting like it's a movie "coming attraction"

But isn't that why Jim Lichtenstein has been there since "go"?

Doesn't Lifetime plan on making this into the next movie of the week?

I bet the entire DT has purhased stock in popcorn and twizzlers.

Wait...twizzlers...there was something about twizzlers. :waitasec:

The woman (the new GA under the bus gal) that is a defense witness who had the confrontation with GA who supposedly was going to search with TES but instead tussled with GA, isn't she from Pinellas County?

Of all the strange "hair on the back of my neck" happenings in this case, the fact that a defense witness (if indeed this is the woman) "accidentally" gets on this jury list and instead of alerting the court, contaminates the jury pool is by far, IMO, an indicator that there is something very strange going on.

I have felt for a long time that there is just too much strangeness about this whole case for it to just be coincidence, but now I am convinced that something about this whole case is just not right.

There are just too many things that are suspicious, and in watching just the first 2 days of jury selection, I am very fearful that not even JBP will be able to keep justice on track.

Since the very beginning of this sordid drama I’ve believed that most of the events were not just haphazard happenings or eerie coincidences. IMOP there is a director, of if you prefer, a conductor orchestrating the entire production. Many players, all playing their parts for the benefit of notoriety, fame, and of course the almighty dollar, not to mention distraction and diversion from all the real life happenings we should be aware of………

Well. Richard Hornsby said they should have combined the cases.

They should have delayed until after this trail. But then again we have an inexperienced attorney. Shaeffer said they would use this at this trial and they will - he thought it was totally inexperience and that they should have delayed it so state could not call her a felon.

There is nothing the defense could say that would shock me - NOTHING. I have no doubt they've come up with some "shocking" cockamamie (sp) story. Doesn't mean us "uneducated court of public opinion" is going to buy it.

Oye! The arrogance of this guy.

Really!

I'll put up MY education against HIS education any day. Any day at all. :rocker:

Bring it on!

Exclusive: Casey Anthony attorneys hint at shocker in defense

The defense team hasn't even hinted about what story they will tell. But they told me we're in for quite a surprise.

"We suspect there will be some jaw-dropping," said defense attorney Cheney Mason. "We'll have to wait and see."

Casey's lawyers claimed three years of questions could be answered in three minutes at trial. It might shock the public.

I can honestly say nothing that they say will shock me. We are speaking of a story straight from ICA's mouth, the mother of all LIARS. She can roll off whoppers without a wince and she has had 3 years to come up with and work on this doozie!

I think Hornsby's blog stated that the Defence tried to get the Check Fraud charges delayed. However, this didn't work.

Someone called in on HLN with Vinnie P and said she has watched this case from the very beginning and does not think ICA is guilty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is she watching what we are watching???

Raw video - judge dismisses jurors - WESH

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9n20P-Hk1E&feature=share

I can't believe how Baez is smiling so broadly over something so gravely serious.

He did object to going to Pinellas in the first place. Then objected to the lack of minorities there. He just couldn't conceal his glee and seeing this as a personal victory. Maybe he'll get his wish, and a delay to boot. :maddening:

I still can't get over how KC and JB were acting in court today. Just after the whole potential jury pool was dismissed, KC was at the table with AF and the lawyer with the unlawful hair and she was talking to them and also CM from time to time but giving the angry "girlfriend stare" across the room at JB. JB did not come and wait at the table. He was stood with the back to the camera and watching KC and how she was behaving, all the while KC was giving the "stares".

When the videos are posted, I'll find it and give a time stamp.

Although, having briefly looked at the case law on this matter the principle behind not shackling the Defendant include embarrasment to the Defendant, dignity and decorum of the court process, communicate with counsel and (I would imagine) take an active part in one's own defense.

Preparing the case and communication may neccesitate speaking afterwards to attorneys and briefly taking notes after the hearing. It is also embarassing for the Defendant to be hauled out immediately as if though she cannot be trusted to momentarily speak to the Attorneys.

All MO but I appreciate we will continue to differ on this.
However, I suspect a lot of people just want to see ICA have a hard a time as possible. A sort of pre-judgement punishment. Whilst, I understand the reasoning behind this (the State's worse allegations against her - or their worst theory - is/are quite atrocious) the desired punishment, discomfort, pain, embarasment, anxiety and whatever else you want to see inflicted upon her should rightly wait until (and indeed if) she is convicted.

BBM. Yes and no. The fact is that many of us have watched and listened to casey for almost three years acting like this is a walk in the park, like she is not on trial for the murder of her baby, like the death of her child is a mere inconvenience, like she is actually defense counsel and not the defendant, etc. So it is true that many of us want to see her treated in a manner that allows her to finally realize the seriousness of her situation. It's like we are stunned by her lack of a sense of reality and awed by it. Most of us just want her to be treated like the in-custody defendant she is.

But yes, I'm sure there is some anger there within many of us that makes some want to see her suffer a bit now, for what we firmly believe was the crime she committed. And I respect your feelings about that. Your feelings underpin the due process laws in our country, and how defendants are to be treated and that helps us to stay civilized! You are courageous to stand your ground in a "room" full of people who have agonized over the suffering and murder of Caylee for almost three years and who feel rather passionate about her and casey.

He did have quite the smirk on his face. Wonder if the judge noticed? Man I wanted to reach through my screen and wipe it off.

BBM

I beg to differ, but yes, she is indeed a Convicted Felon - under the check fraud charges and she is serving that sentence still if I am not mistaken.

What kind of sentence did she get for the check fraud charges?

In the very beginning of this case - IT WAS HUGE The media set up a webcam 24/7 on the front of the house that ICA and her parents lived in. We watched it constantly. There were protestors; some of those became combative; CA ended up waving a hammer wildly in the front yard one day; some lady came and stole their garbage that they put out on the street; GA turned the hose on a bunch of portestors one night; ICA was arrested on National TV during a prime time LIVE Nancy Grace show - LE pulled up in the yard with lights on...very right outta Hollywood scene!

So, yes, in the beginning of this case - the media coverage was huge and very much rivaled OJ's.

A whole bunch of us here have followed this case from day one (check out join dates - a lot of us signed up when this case broke).

This trial is going to be the trial of the decade if not the first half of this century - and for a whole lot of reasons.

The 24-hour webcam - I think it was Fox News - captured GA and CA at their worst.

In addition to capturing both of them engaging in confrontations with protestors, in front of their house, some of which became physical (GA turning the hose on people and CA carrying a baseball bat), one afternoon GA became very upset with a reporter-cameraman who had a lawn chair, umbrella, and small lunch-size ice chest, and was set up on the lawn area between the curb and sidewalk. It appeared he was in front of the neighbor's house and not actually in front of the Anthony house.

George was angry and he went over and torn the man's umbrella out of the ground and threw it. He kicked the ice chest and lawn chair over and then began to go after the reporter-camera man who was much smaller than GA. Someone stepped in and grabbed GA and restrained him from physically attacking the man. George was yelling, "I only touched him, I only touched him!"

In another incident, GA was angry and yelled "The body in my daughter's car was not my granddaughter!

A few hours after Casey was bonded out of jail (Aug. 21, 2008?) evidently GA, wanting answers, had a physical confrontation with Casey, and it took CA and GA's friend visiting from Ohio to restrain him. The 24-hour webcam captured GA leaving the house and yelling to reporters that he was going for a walk. A while later Lee got in the car and a few minutes later returned with GA in the car.

I think the defense will use the video footage of both GA and CA in their angry confrontations outside their home during the summer of 2008, and witness testimony regarding GA's confrontation with Casey, to show that both GA and CA are prone to physical confrontations.

I think Ann Finnell and Baez were both shocked at the amount of hands. They both said OMG - you can see it clearly.

I think Hornsby's blog stated that the Defence tried to get the Check Fraud charges delayed. However, this didn't work.

It seems to me that it had something to do with the victim's right to have the case heard in a timely manner.

Did her name happen to be Cindy? :waitasec:
