Pinnellas County must be full of people suffering hardship. I've been called often for jury duty and very few have hardship..wth?

Could be the 6 to 8 weeks problem. That is 2 months w/o pay. 3 to 4 months or more behind to try to get bills caught up.

Every time I have been called everyone had an excuse, some more lame than others. Side note, the homeless guy was excused, the drunk lady was excused, the person that had a license but is not a citizen (???) was excused, and on and on. Those are the people that did not want to be excused, lol.

Dang...all young women have job financial hardship and childcare duties, and all older peeps have too many health problems or are unable to be separate from their spouses.

I would love to have some time away from hubby and home! haha! Love him, but would love not having any housework to do!

I think they probably gave her a shot of some kind of anxiety medicine that kicked in right away. That could probably explain the quick recovery. I think she truly did have a panic attack, and I have had one before, and those shots they give you work immediately!

I see now. Still don't feel sorry for the "woman"

Juror #3083: Male. Hardship- Owns a pool service business and this is the height of the season. Would be a loss of income. Would cause financial problems.

Excused for cause: financial hardships. No objections.

Yep, out here, I've heard it at every pending case. One or more jurors dismiss themsleves saying, "In my mind, he is guilty" or "If he weren't guilty he wouldn't be sitting at that table"..Poof! gone..........

3083: Hardship? Yes. I have a weekly pool service. This is the busy season.

HHJP: You are a small business owner.

Weekly repairs, also. A few employees.

HHJP: You would lose income it would be financially bad for you and your employees. Excused.

I think I could do it, but my work would suffer. but they do pay for jury duty with no time limit noted in the handbook. so I'd get paid a salary to put ICA in jail... love that!

I surely hope that this little insight and peek into the personal lives of local citizens..give ya all insight that MEN are no longer considered the "Bread Winners"..Most of these women are the sole bread winner, and would be on the streets IF had NO INCOME...Yikes...Society has certainly changed in the past generation, eh?

Try being 45 divorced and wishing for a good man. Not happening.

The economy is horrible right now for sure, also this being an eight week trial does not help.

On In Session they're talking about the possibility of homeless jurors. Could really not work for ICA. They might look at ICA as someone who has had opportunities that they never had and she threw it all away. That population could have more women that have had their children taken away and there's ICA who killed her baby.

IMHO I personally think it's a double-edged sword....anyone down on their luck financially would be more at risk for accepting a bribe.....I don't put anything past the dt. :twocents:

However talk about karama......ica condemned to death by a homeless jury? Could ANYTHING else be more insulting to a person who feels complete self-entitlement? Can you imagine the outrage ca would exhibit? :floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

3300: Hardship? Yes it would. I'm a single mom. I work full time. They don't cover the pay. My child is ten.

HHJP: What would happen if you were not compensated for eight weeks?

I would lose my home.

HHJP: What about your ten year old?

I would have to find care for him.

HHJP: Excused.

Well thats good thanks for answering:) They probably heard it wrong thats why I asked here because my great WS family always knows a answer:)

No problem..honestly, the way it was presented had me going for a few secs...looked to be brand new "breaking news" - easy to see how viewers took it to be live coverage. But...if you watched a bit longer you saw they were playing back the old George suicide footage. My thoughts were: shameful and it riled me a little that they didn't introduce the segment as a prior event in this saga.

Juror #3300: Woman. Hardship- Single mom (of a 10 year old son). Works full time. Employer would not compensate. Would have to find care for her son, could lose her home, etc.

Excused for cause: financial hardship/childcare issues. No objections.

I remember a judge in our central court here who said that once actually went across the street to a bar in the middle of the day and grabbed some drunks out of the bar to serve jury duty that day! Apparently, they can do that. I was surprised! They needed jurors in a pinch and that's how he got them. Imagine them serving on a jury!

In any event, I guess HHJP could actually got to a homeless shelter and find jurors, as he earlier joked.

Is it possible that going to the shelter would give the DT something to ask for an appeal on?
