2011.05.11 Jury Selection Day Three

Substance abuse and mental illness come to mind, but I'm sure there's some possibilities.

Not all homeless people have mental illness issues or substance abuse issues. Increasingly in this country, a large percentage of the homeless population is made up of people who used to have good, steady jobs that went poof, along with their homes and even families. I think people would be shocked if they knew the percentage of homeless folks who are college graduates with none of the issues people stereotype them to have.

I don't think he was kidding. He is having them check for people who have driver's licenses. He asked JB if he was ok with this and he said yes. I don't think that is grounds for appeal since the DT said it was fine.

I don't think he was joking. He asked JB twice if he wanted the courts to go to the trouble of seeing how many in the shelter had driver's licenses, JB answered 'yes'

IMHO I personally think it's a double-edged sword....anyone down on their luck financially would be more at risk for accepting a bribe.....I don't put anything past the dt. :twocents:

However talk about karama......ica condemned to death by a homeless jury? Could ANYTHING else be more insulting to a person who feels complete self-entitlement? Can you imagine the outrage ca would exhibit? :floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

I look forward to her outrage and shock when she is convicted, no matter what the sentence!

I'm actually disappointed that it appears that reality is sinking in for her. Less of a shock for her when she is found guilty.

Please tell me it wasn't in central district? The 4th Street Courthouse.

Santa Ana, Central Civil near fourth but on Civic Center drive. I was rolling with laughter. But the judge was serious! It was a minor case, with a one day trial but the judge was just pissed at not having enough of a pool to choose from. I don't know what the result of that trial with that jury was, though. Would have been fun to watch.

Does anyone have a final count of today's jury? I had some work to do and when I got back some forty pages went by, and the board goes wild. I'm trying to count on the dvr but with commercials it's not possible.

Juror #3060: Male. No hardships. Works for the school board. Isn't sure if they pay or not. Has 2 weeks vacation pay if they don't pay..the remaining 6 weeks would be "alright". Would resort to using savings.

Judge: Check with the school board and when you come back, let the court know whether or not they'll pay.

Called back for 2nd round.
