State: u used term - heinous murders, what do u mean?

Prosp Juror: disfigurement, cutting a body up, cruel and unusual, anything like that

Okay he just said cruel and unusual...does he know the DP definitions

If it is true that she is a pleaser, then maybe if the vote came down to 11-1 guilty, she would come around just to please the other jurors.

I've been on a jury and other jurors can put a lot of pressure on you to change your vote if you are the hold out.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I tend to hope her answer about judging people from what others say was representative of her life experiences, like not believing in gossip.
Of course JA is looking at all answers from a legal standpoint, where this lady can only speak from her own experiences.
This may be a tempest in a teapot.

Let's hope so. Because I could see her being a hold out. For sure. The fact that she mentioned she has no friends tends to make me think she would maintain her stance.

If this becomes a hung jury, she will be the reason. I was not pleased at many of her answers.

This man does not believe in the DP for regular murder. :waitasec: Only if they kill more than one person, or do it in a heinous way? :waitasec:

full disclosure: that is my opinion of the DP as well. I do get all the arguments and only since ethan stacey was murdered last year have I ever come around to thinking the DP is ever warranted and after that, and some soul searching, I have decided it is occasionally warranted.

Pros Juror: I followed OJ Simpson case
State: u dont look old enough to have followed OJ Simpson
Pros Juror: my looks are deceiving

This is BS imo. I think HHJP denied the strike because he is determined to get enough jurors in time to start the trial on time. Sunny Hoskins stated in IS she has never seen anything like it. Could end up being an appellate issue.

Far be it from me to agree with the media pundits, but this is the first time I have ever questioned HHJP. He needs to lighten up. One more week is not going to hurt anything at this point.

He has followed OJ Simpson's trial...

JA: I don't think you are old enough
#1135: My looks are deceiving

Jeff Aston - I don't think you are old enough to have followed OJ Simpson - LOL

HAHA, Ashton just asked the PJ if he's followed any larges cases in the media and the PJ answered, OJ Simpson. Ashton follows up by saying, I don't think you are old enough to have followed the OJ Simpson Trial! :)

:great: :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh:

LG changing from jeans to yoga pants to begin doing lunges when AF is up:rocker:

If you do that throughout trial you'll have buns of steel! Make an exercise video!!!!

HHJP: it is a process of weighing and the weighing is up to you.

yes

HHJP: any hesitation or reservation in my giving you the law?

no

JA: in responding to types of murder you said, heinous, what do you mean?

cutting up, cruel and unusual.

JA: some of what you said in defining heinous may be right and some not. what ever preconcived notion you have you have no issue with doing what law/judge instructs?

not at all.

JA: ever follow a case?

OJ Simpson

JA: any other case? execution that was schedualed?

no. never had a real strong opinion either way.

JA: do you have a particular crime where death would be the presumed punishment?

a serial murder where more people that are involved. people that have killed over and over again.

yes.

JA: you would have to listen to everything before decide.

possibly a mental condition would cause me...

JA: okay mitigating factors...

yes.

JA: thank you.

This juror knows something and has posted something. The SA asked for the sidebar no?

JA's questions are following an interesting pattern. I think his questions are intended to show cause for dismissal instead of using his challenges.

Now the guy brings up mental challenges in mitigation B4 Ann stood up.

This PT is shady shady stealth!!

IMO

Had to leave to pick up a sick child, missed the last 3.5 hours.
What did I miss??????:panic:

Let me guess.....nothing.:aktion1:

To me, lots has happened. JA used one of his peremptory challenges on a lady who sounded confused at best to me. It was objected to by JB as racially motivated and his objection was sustained. I am very worried about this lady and that she will cause a hung jury. She seems incapable of understanding basic questions, let alone complex expert testimony and she doesn't like to judge people.

Wonder if duct taping a 2 year old's airwaves and taping her hands so she can't save herself qualifies as heinous in his mind?

We have to remember that there is still one more round these potential jurors have to go through prior to being sworn in. I think Judge Perry knows a heck of a lot more about Florida law than any of us do so I am going to trust his judgment regarding this potential juror.

I'm sure he does. But if you watch that exchange he revealed his own bias very clearly. I have admired him since we first saw him, but I think we saw a weakness there and it offended JA (and me). I am very anti-racist people, but it's not good to have an AA on the Jury just to be 'fair' if that particular person is one that does not seem to be able to grasp the simplest of theories.
If 11 of the Jurors were AA that would be fine with me, but if they then put a dumb white person on the Jury to ensure diversity I would be just as annoyed.
