Sorry to be OT - but could someone PM me about what the tiff between JB and ICA was about? I watched and somehow can't figure out why or what sparked the 2-yr old behavior comment???? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeez someone help my feeble little mind!

Am I hearing this right? Your Honour is only going to pick 15 jurors? This is NOT enough for this case. If you look at the Peterson case, they picked 12 + 6 alternates. They ended up using 3 of the alternates (if I'm not mistaken). I think (IMHO) we need at least 12 + 6 at minimum.

they will have more... they are just swearing 15, backstriking until they seat 12 than alternates will be chosen.. ((that is the way I understood it))

My thoughts exactly. With all of the madness that accompanies this case, I fully expect at LEAST two jurors to be bumped during the course of the trial. Who knows what else could happen? Call me a cynic, but...I'd err on the side of caution.

Yes, we still have the wigs and gowns on the go over here!

I definitely find the US process interesting and notice a few differences between here and the USA.

Off the top of my head:

USA: not so much pomp & ceremony like the UK with wigs and gowns.

USA: Casey sitting at the defence table. She would be seperate in the "dock" over here.

USA: Televised trials!!!! :great:

USA: Discovery released to the media. In the UK that does not happen.

USA: Pretrial publicity. In the UK the media are not allowed to report much about cases for fear of prejudicing fair trials. They have actually been warned in recent cases coverage eg. the Joanna Yates murder, they were warned off from publishing too many details of people arrested.

Me personally, I really like that I can read some Discovery prior to the trial and watch trials.

I'm not too far away from where you were, Cambridge, East Anglia.

Did you study or work here? Or are you an ex-pat?
