Judge is really in my opinion bending over backwards so much for the DT for appellate reasons that I'm starting to have a little sour taste in my mouth.

HHJP: lunch. lets feed those folks we have back there. the one we just struck she is free to go home with my thanks. how many do we have schedualed to come in this afternoon.

six

HHJP: both sides you do realize that these are the only jurors that we have and one out of this number probably has a problem that would subject that person to be excused for cause. I am letting you know the well runs dry after this.

JA: we have 23 jurors...

HHJP: but you have 23 folks who are anxious as the dickens ( I love that word, dickens) ! There is one that has an airplane to catch...he was at first willing to forgo this trip. out of this number since you have not asked them about media...you do not know what will come out of their mouths that they will be subject to cause. that is all till recess. all rise.

Geez...I'm so nervous and I don't even have a dog in this fight. Can't imagine how the SA's are feeling. :/

"Are men in a protected class?"
"No"
You go Judge Perry.

Well. IMO, the same could be said about AA's being in a protected class. Are Caucasians? If everyone is in a protected class, as HH said: We may as well do away with the strikes altogether.

Because this is taking longer then the judge wanted it to I get the impression his anger/frustration is focused on the State not the DT

1251: retired teacher that sounds like edie falco. Challenge approved by Judge as to juror 1251.

I think we're still at 11 if 3308 sticks around.

MOO

Mel

1340: first guy up that took forever (7 y/o daughter)
1398: crisis counselor
1019: computer guy with nurse wife
1055: nursing student with the rat terrier
1319: older AA lady had a challenge by state that was denied
1429: long grey haired lady that had a dui
1025: chef with 2 young kids
1007: giggly lady defense challenge denied
1159: VA guy with 5 years in the army has young son
3397: stocktrader with bad back
3308: He had baseball tickets to see the Milwaukee Brewers, but cancled them because of the jury selection.

Did the State use backstrike for juror that said she couldn't judge anyone? Is that # 1319? or has/can HJBP denied strike?

  • #1,011
DT only has 4 strikes left I believe and state has 5

  • #1,012
I do not understand why that strike as allowed!DT is going to keep bringing it to 11!

that was 1391 and they tried again but the Judge denied, she is on the jury.

Well, I have to say I'm not comfortable with what we have so far. Not even a "little bit".

In total agreement with you here. Will he also be bending over backwards during the actual trial? Me thinks so! :maddening:

BBM - And one has to wonder why, considering it has been the DT that has used up most of the time...

THATjuror is the only one that has concerned me BIG time!!!

So wait, they want 1251 gone because her daughter has a two year old (hello, jury of your peers) and because she she can't consider mercy? Didn't HHJP say mercy could not be used as a cause to strike, or am I wrong?

I just can't quite wrap my head around that this woman is being possibly kicked to the curb becuase she won't be able to consider mercy when exactly what mercy was given to Caylee? K, stepping away. It's getting to me. Where are the rights of the victim? :banghead:

The facts of this case speak for themselves. NO WAY is she getting off.
