Grits is a type of maize porridge and a food common in the Southern United States consisting of coarsely ground corn, traditionally by a stone mill.

Yummy....grits with maple syrup on top. Haven't had that in years.

I'm a bit lost, trying to catch up after a busy work morning and a power surge or two in the neighborhood. I think they need to bring in the remaining jurors en masse and voir dire with some general questions - have you heard of the defendant, have you heard this case on the news, have you seen the lawyers before, do you think you can objectively hear this case? That might weed out a few, then they can question the rest.

As usual, YMMV...

Thank you all for educating me on the finer art of eating in Cornwall and in the South. I guess I would call it a Pastry or maybe Quiche? Never had grits either, but I always thought it was ground Hominy instead of ground corn. So lumpy corn meal? Hmmmm . . . not really feeling the love here guys.

A pasty is not quiche, no way. It is a filing inside pastry in the shape of a crescent.

I. Did. Not. Know. That.

Wow, you get such an education here!

My next question would be, how do you know that?
you guys need to do some stand up commedy... for real!!!!!

It has seemed to me that they deploy JB/CM depending on the particular juror being questioned .... and I'm just going to leave it at that:innocent:

Seems the day CM didn't show up was the day everything sped up and went on without a hitch-think it was Saturday ? :ignore:. Tell you something?

Honestly . . . my only experience with this was pole dancing my way up from the basement parking lot after being thrown in WS basement imagi-jail on a "F'ing whim!" I have heard stories and I personally have an aversion to tape over any body part . . . ok sorry folks . . . I am getting a little silly . . . probably should eat.

Word of warning Darndudes - don't Google Image Search (GIS) "pasties" if you are at work... just sayin...:innocent:

To keep on topic of food, I just ate cheese and crackers with a chaser of Ice tea.

Well I for one am glad to know this Lera, because I was a leeeetle concerned at how fast you were downing those mimosas! :giggle:

You guys are cracking me up with your waffles and grits and pasties and other pasties and box wine... we need some dessert and I just so happen to have some red velvet cake here with a delightful buttercream frosting. What's more, it's carb, sugar and calorie free. ;) Enough to share!

...more like a calzone if that helps - Alton Brown did a whole episode on them calling them "hand pies"... every culture has a variation on them

Sort of like a calzone or turnover, but better! Now dessert? I'll clean it up and call it a spotted Richard or how about some trifle or toffee pudding Oh Boy!

BBM: Yep ...

This is how I like my "Grits" :

Salt ... Butter ("real" Butter) ... Fried Bacon crumbled up in the Grits ... Cheddar Cheese ... all mixed together !

:great::great:

I could prolly do without the bacon. But the cheese and butter? Bring it!

My mother made the best grits when I was growing up. She's from Texas. To this day I can't duplicate them, and I'm 51.

OK, it's obvious we don't have any southerners on the board or in the media! He said grits for a gristmill! (In his lovely southern speech I love)

Grits is a type of maize porridge and a food common in the Southern United States consisting of coarsely ground corn, traditionally by a stone mill. The results are passed through screens, with the finer part being corn meal, and the coarser being grits.

Many communities in the South had a gristmill until the mid-20th century, with families bringing their own corn to be ground, and the miller retaining a portion of the corn for his fee. Grits aficionados still prefer stone ground grits, although modern milling tends to prefer faster methods.

If and when I EVER cook grits, I buy them at the store in a bag. I most certainly don't grind my own.

love cheese grits, shrimp and grits and catfish and grits. Don't forget crawfish and grits lol
I can't do the shrimp or catfish, but if I could I would! We alternate between grits and fried hominy as sides here. Can't keep enough around sometimes. My granddaughter couldn't get her "r's" out when she was younger and would call grits "gets" and it has stuck with the rest of us now.

Here is a laugh for you guys while we wait. I moved into a new house this week and my husband is out town. I got a little scared so I let my huge german shepherd in and let him lay in the floor at the foot of my bed. I wake up the next morning and cannot move, I look over and my dog is stretched out right up as close as he can get to me, I guess he got scared too!

:floorlaugh: poor lil puppy :D he forgot he was grown!

I got a funny for yall too....I used to lurk from when this case came out til I signed up, and the delay was due to not having an ISP email to sign up with...so I couldnt hold back any longer and asked my FIL if I could use his email to sign up with....and he said yes so.....

the next day, after I spent all night gleefully posting, my FIL comes to me and says...real embarassed like....."was that you using my email for web sl*ts??!"

although I did correct him, we've been personally calling WS "websl*ts" ever since!

I am giggling hysterically . . . I read this and the next thing my eyes stopped on was your bolded "should be consistent with a banana". . . . . tears are rolling down my face . . . .

Thank You!

:floorlaugh:I can just picture him doing that. My dog does it too, I think they just like to be close to us....making sure we are okay. My dog also hates when I turn on the light when she is still sleeping, she tries to block out the light with her paw...too cute! I love my big baby.

Good Morning all! I hate to ask this but I just got online after having trouble getting online and I'm reading both threads for today and understand that:

1. We are on a long lunch break

2. Only one pot.juror was interviewed this morning

And that is all I can surmise, except for peeps posts about motions and DT stalling.....can someone please, please do a brief update? I hate people who ask for that, but I can't make heads or tails of what is going on.

Pwease!!!!
