I thought they got these jurors yesterday. or am i wrong? We didnt know about it until today.

This is a whole new panel of jurors. After he is done questioning them for hardship, the ones who have hardship will be dismissed and the ones who are left will come back tomorrow. After this is done, we will get back to the remaining jurors who are left over from last week.

I never realized how many people were not paid for jury duty. It's really sad.

I can't hear any of the PJ's.

Why don't they require all PJ to show up with a letter from employer stating whether they would be compensated or not?

most trials are a day or two - and usually there's some kind of compensation for a day or two (or can afford to take the hit) - this was just a regular old jury pool for whatever they had going on today - they wouldn't have been notified anyway, but they wouldn't want to tip their hand

Because 95% of the time that people get called for are either A) Dismissed without a case, or B) Are picked for a case that is done in 1-2 days. The issue of being paid for 8 weeks rarely comes up.

Does anyone in this forum believe Casey is innocent? Or that has no idea whether she did it or not?

While I cannot speak for others on this forum my personal opinion is that she is guilty and has a 50/50 chance of walking.
This is why I am not on the jury aside from the fact that I live in Connecticut and it would be a hardship for me to travel that far unless for vacation. Then...it could be considered.

Do I have this right...9 out of 10 said it will be a financial hardship...

  • #394
So we've resorted to "group voir dire"???????

  • #395
We'll be lucky to get 4 or 5 out of this pool of 30. And out of those few potential jurors, the state or defense could strike them for one reason or another.

It doesn't matter if most of these jurors have hardships.. Even if we get 5 or 6 out if this bunch, that's 5 or 6 more potential alternate jurors.
