2011.05.20 Sidebar Thread (Jury Selection Day Eleven)

jury swore in
nothing tomorrow
maybe some more pre trial whining (I mean motions) heard monday
opening statements on tuesday
jurors most likely move out on monday at some time to their sequestration point... they got an extra day
there was an in camera on 3016.. not sure what that was about but he is one of the 12
casey was a laughing smiling horrible happy MESS today. It was disgusting to watch
yes there are five alternates.

Looking over my notes .... on juror 3016 - now Juror # 11 - wonder if the private, in-camera meeting had anything to do with his Uncle who was in the FBI in New York, transferred to Miami, and retired 5 years ago?? Who knows?? Whatever the private meeting was about, it did not prevent him from being seated as a juror...

Thanks, Strawberry. I noticed while I was watching this that JB has a noticeable head twitch while he is sitting there. I did see this before in the hearing but it was usually when the judge was denying a motion. My guess is this was very stressful for him maybe because of the serious looks from the jury panel, no smiling, I'm guessing. jmo

Does anyone else remember LDB commenting to the judge that there was more evidence that has not been introduced and the judge said she could not asked questions in case the evidence was not accepted for trial? I think it went something like that. I'm thinking FBI. jmo

Does anyone know when Mason was asking the Judge to make the State lay out their witnesses? I missed that part and can't find it anywhere. TIA!

HLN did a special about it the other day. Absolutely amazing!!! Did you also know that HHJP oversaw not only the building of that courthouse but took particular interest in THAT courtroom. That is his domain - and rightfully so. I think ICA will be quite intimidated when she walks in there next Tuesday!!!

Wow! No. I never knew that! Thank you :)

I know I was intimidated just seeing it online! With all that technology I fully expect the prosecution to be showing a lot!!!

I believe he wanted to know what witnesses would be called when so they could have files ready. HHJP said he had no jurisdiction or power over who they called or when they called them. If the state wanted to cooperate fine, otherwise they were on there own. Mason also said none of their files were not digitized and there files would take up half the court room, where as HHJP said he would make a table for them in the corner. Then JB asked if they could just have 20 of the first witnesses that the state would call and again HHJP told him he had to power to make them. Whine, whine, whine...

luv already posted all of them together. Its quite startling to see her "deterioriation" in just 3 years. She looks like she's aged 15 years.

Yep that's the one....Amazing the change in just 3 years. It certainly looks like the last 2 weeks have taken a toll on her....Wow...she looks like she's been in prison. Looks hard.

Orange County, Fla. - Casey Anthony was booked back into the Orange County jail.
Anthony was transferred back to the facility Saturday morning. The accused child killer spent two weeks in a Pinellas County Jail during the jury selection process.
After days of legal wrangling and courtroom outbursts, a jury of 7 women, 5 men and 5 alternates were sworn in.
Opening statements in the trail are set to begin Tuesday morning at 9:00.

I saw that too. I call those his neck side jerks and they seemed to be picking up in frequency Friday didn't they? I thought he looked scared during swearing in of the jury. When he's scared he looks like he's trying to pass gas without anyone hearing (IMO).

I'm sure he'll be back in fine form Tuesday AM with that smug/oh-so-serious lawyer look on his face we've all come to know and loathe. I feel certain he'll spend a large part of this weekend trying on his suits, ties and pocket squares and posing in front of his mirror to prepare for Tuesday.

Well in those pix above - the two that are side by side (ICA in the white shirt and the one from Pinellas when she was checked in there) Those are actually 3 years apart.

The white shirt one was the arrest for the murder - when the Grand Jury indictment came down and we had all that drama on the highway.

The Pinellas one is the most disturbing. She looks medicated - highly medicated to me in that one.

I wonder if she's even seen these mug shots - do they show them to you?

Will ICA be able make a grand entrance in courtroom 23 like she was able to at jury selection?

I see nothing but EVIL in those eyes, and DEFIANCE, and annoyance that the jail staff is taking her mug shot (again). IMO there is no fear, or remorse, or concern, or panic, or young vulnerability.

I thought she looked medicated after a couple of crying jags during JS....she had a bad day and the next day just kind of sat there for the most part like a deer in the headlights.

I don't know if they see them or not...doubt it, but don't know for sure.
