GRAPHIC ALERT.........sorry
BBM I believe because the tape was on so securely, holding the mandible and hair matte in place it was determined it was placed before or immediately after death. If the body was purging fluids and Caylee was in fetal position, the side of her face against the carpet would already be seeping and if anyone tried to apply tape, it wouldn't have stuck. The skin also slips away from the flesh after death so it's an improbable scenario IMHO.

and have we even considered how difficult it might be to adhere tape to a wet (ahem) surface? I think you get my point.....

Edited to add - I just ran out to the kitchen and tried that with duct tape and ran my arm under the faucet then patted to a damp dry - didn't stick so well and pulled right off easily. So, I doubt there was a lot of moisture when it was applied

Because her mandible was still in tact as if she were alive. If you've ever seen a person die, their mouth drops open almost immediately.

It opens but I have sent many bodies to morgue w/ closed mouths. Also sent people out w/ open mouths (only slightly, not the SCREAM character kind of open) to morgue and at viewing the jaws were closed (yes I know they glue the lips closed).
After rigor passes I think the jaw is pliable, otherwise we would see everyone laying in caskets with gaping open mouths.

I'm with you on that one Chiquita71 - it seems to be a mantra with the Defense Team - everyone except ICA and I completely understood your comment. Perhaps other posters who are not as familiar with the evidence as we are - are the ones with more questions and needing clarification...:waitasec:

BBM

Or perhaps some of us wonder how the JURY is going to take something.

I thought of that when he said it too. But JB said it in response to Waters saying he 'trusts everybody until they do something' - to JB that could've suggested to the jury that she took something, so he had to ask.

I don't think that would matter, JB asked if KC stole something from him...

I thought Cindy's call to police said "I found my daughters car today...."

I agree, it sucks that he didn't call police.

They didn't call when they first smelled the car. Cindy cleaned the car and even went back to work. She didn't call police until she tracked Casey down later that night.

I agree and, fwiw I think it's inconsequential to the testimony he gave. I even pictured him answering on cross that "Yeah, I've often wondered myself why in the world didn't I call the police when I smelled that". It may very well have been a coulda, shoulda, woulda moment for him.

But, he did put two and two together when he heard the story of Caylee missing and remembered the trash bag in the dumpster. That might have been another coulda, woulda...

I still think he had rules and regs to follow and worked hand in hand with the LE. He knew no details about this car - for all he knows this was a suicide and the car was dumped by the relatives. I would think he would wait and see if anyone responded to the certified letter, but we will soon see. Think we are jumping the gun by suggesting Simon might have been negligent. As far as I know, it is not a crime to not report a crime, if that's his only reason.

Did anyone else see ICA interacting with the jury this morning?? When HHJP was telling the jury about getting to watch the hockey game. HHJP asked, "does anyone want to watch hockey, tonite"? ICA got a big grin and started nodding, yes! Eyes big! Even mouthed that she wants to watch, too. Something was asked about basketball and she wrinkled her nose and shook her head, no. She was looking right at the jury. Was one of them interacting back with her?? That worries me.

This comes as no surprise to me. I expected KC to make an attempt to bond with the Jury or one Juror in particular (probably a male)This is why, IMO,the DT has her facing the Jury.

Maybe the State should take the jury out to Suburban Drive and use that little tape measurer and show them where every single little bone of Caylee's was found. The defense is making it sound like Caylee's entire skeleton was found 20 feet from the road when that is not true. Can't wait for the jury to see just how scattered Caylee really was and all because animals had torn that poor baby apart and scattered her!

That would be a wonderful thing for the State to do! They'll get the idea, but to actually be in the presence of where her little body was would be moving.

I was in Orlando last June and had every intention of going to pay my respects, but in the end I just couldn't do it. I couldn't bear to see where Caylee was thrown away like garbage.

Where do you think she put the baby before she put her in the trunk?...playhouse?...She was somewhere until the car started smelling around late June when she texted Amy about the dead animal....I think that was when she dumped her in the woods...

Simon Birch has been in the business for a long time. Maybe at some point in time he did call the police about a smell and it was dismissed for some reason such as the car having been sold after a homicide or suicide. His past experiences may have lead him to just follow the rules and tow the car.

All of this talk about Casey being such a good mother is getting sickening. She put on a front for everyone.
There was one person who said he saw her in action without her audience though. Remember the guy that owned the computer store that saw her interaction with Caylee both in his store and that day walking out of WalMart? Is he on the State witness list? I want to see him tell it like it really was.

Well, if anyone cares about what Mr. Birch did or did not do...they better care about what Casey did or did not do.

Maybe Mr. Birch was abused as a child? :dunno:

Sorry to be so snippy, I can feel my snippyness...I am angry at the defense...I appreciate everyone here.

:tyou:

It's now less than ten minutes until we go back live. The WFTV live feed is showing people entering the courtroom.

Is the state going to miss the opportunity to get AL's remarks about not wanting to have a girl child?

[ame="http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=137558"]I hear the train coming with 'Beach driving us to the afternoon trial thread! Jump on board![/ame]

He didn't call the police because he would not have been paid for the car tow if the police took it. He would have had to gone to court to get the money from the Anthony's.

After lisrening to Birch and he know what the smell was but didn't call the police...I wonder if there a place on the paperwork about anything weird about the car. Smell, items etc..

It left me wondering about how many dead bodies there is sitting in tow yards? :(
