JB will have to read the textbook of H i s t o l o g y tonite as well as testing marrow of human bones. Can we just get the PETS (possitron Emission Tomography Scan) and see if there is a functional segmented brain on M I S S Anthonys' head or if she left that in Warren, OH.

Or they could wait until Gerus and Bones are in the courtroom with their handlers and show that they alert or hit on the scent again.

Wow what an awesome strategy!

This witness is so great.

JB isn't being rude and antagonizing to this CSI. I'm shocked.

Wait a minute, if it's not animal or human, what the heck kind of meat is Baez talking about?

He thinks bananas are meat! :giggle:

Every time Jose Baez asks this CSI a question, it seems to strengthen the prosecution's case. #CaseyAnthony

wait, what - gas indicator goes up and then may sink down - isn't that the exact opposite of what would support his client?

  • #1,028
Does Casey get that this "smell" and "decomposition" refers to her little girl? Wow. That face says it all, doesn't it?

  • #1,029
JB: Leaves are of no forensic value are they?

Bloise: Depends.

HA!

If the gas gauge sinks down after taking a spin in the car, wouldn't Casey have bought more gas although she didn't really need it yet?

  • #1,031
Honestly, they don't need it (smell the cans). All they need to do is get someone up there who can forensically determine that stain was a result of decomp fluids. Once that's done, you don't need to further confirm the smell of decomp.

Oh dear Mr. Baez - you are not doing that great with this cross - it's hard to tell just how many pot holes you have fallen into at this place in time.....
Many many door have just been opened.

Such as? I was wondering why the SA has not stepped in so much (although LDS seems to object less tha JA).

TBH, this witness seems to be a bit coming across as less of a straight shooter on Cross.

I thought this guy would be able to tell if it was human or animal decomp? What's the deal? He's saying it's just decomp.

JB starts in in the beginning questions to Gerardo Bloise: Jb says: "In plain English", (Derogatory)...Yes, he stooped so low to go there. In my opinion that was to capture any of the jury who may be prejudice. Has he ever said this in the case before? In plain English?

this witness is running circles around baez and baez cant even see it :/

  • #1,035
JB doing his darndest to discredit the dried leaves

  • #1,036
Baez keeps making the most BASIC mistakes! He is asking questions of the witness that he doesn't know the answer to!!

If they are not being asked to identify the smell then what would be the relevance?

Dr Vass will be testifying to the smell in the trunk of the car, he will opine that the stench in the car is of human decomp, he will attest to the fact that this particular stench is unmistakable, (it is) human decomp elicits a gag reflex from nearly everyone, unless used to it and even then it is decidedly unpleasant.
He is an expert in his field and will say the smell in the car is of human decomp, he can do this because he is an expert, the jury is being introduced to the smell not being asked to identify it, that is relevant.

It is interesting how everyone says "you will never forget the smell" of human decomp. I imagine that it is not completely different than the smell of any rotting animal. Our DNA is not that different from other animals, like pigs, for example.

However, our noses are able to differentiate because it is us, it is our own, human biology that we recognize. And I think the reason that we never forget it is because we recognize the smell as being one of our own species that has died and that, subconsciously, has a much greater, psychic (pertaining to the human soul and mind) impact, than smelling a dead dog would have.
