OK, so now it was rotten POTATOES, not a body, that smelled like HUMAN DECOMPOSITION. That's what was in the trunk while people were eating raw burgers with bags over their heads with squirrels plastered to the bottom of the car!
Dr. Vass said that a false positive for presence in a field soil sample could be rendered if the soil sample collected was not representative of the field soil as a whole because it was contaminated by trash. In this case, picking a soil patch with trash would not represent the enviornment accurately (and could create a false positive). That is all. If the trash is indeed part of the environment being tested (as in the trunk evidence) the trash is not a contaminator, but an environmental piece of the evidence and sample. I think the jury will see the distinction. JMO..
