Every now and then there is a case here that is so sad that I find I have difficulty reading any updates.

This is one of those.

Hopefully the surviving children will live happier lives in happier homes.

If she is guilty of murdering 3 infants, I'd say the chances of her retaining custody of her children, or ever regaining it, are exactly zero.

Can you please remind me of what you are referencing or asking?

ETA: I see the post now, about custody. I have not seen any information about her custody (formal or informal) of any other kids prior to her arrest. Perhaps the kids weren't living with her any longer. She may or may not have had visitation with them. Media hasn't mentioned the kids at all, that I have seen.

The kids were either missing a lot of school, or not attending at all. JM found guilty of truancy in April 2025.

Wondering if the deceased infants were fathered by someone aside from her husband and that's why she concealed those pregnancies? Also curious about the birth order. Going by FB pics, it looks like her two living sons were born in 2016 and 2018.

I'm even wondering if they were her own babies? Could they have been born to another female and she's lying, for whatever reason? It's such a bizarre story as it is, but could there be more to the story?

She is incapable (for what reason, we don't know) of managing her household - kids not in school, getting evicted, leaving a mess, multiple pregnancies that ended in dead babies - yet nobody noticed enough to do something to change the situation until the poor landlord discovered bodies?

I feel for the landlord as I'm sure that was a traumatic shock to find.

Neighbors along Oak Avenue reported that Mauthe was raising her two young children alone while her husband was in jail.

KDKA-TV learned Mauthe has two other children, ages 6 and 8.

Felix lived near Mauthe for years and watched her two other children on numerous occasions. He said he didn't even know Mauthe was pregnant.

"It's a close-knit community. Everybody watches out for each other. Them two boys of hers, the whole neighborhood babysat them," Felix said.

As investigators search for a motive, many are wondering about the future of those two children.

Another neighbor who didn't want to be identified said she often watched the boys and fed them.

"Her support system was minimal, and I think she loved her boys," the neighbor said. "I feel she tried the best she could for them. I can't speak for the negativity that happened.

"Giving them structure. They needed structure. They needed love. They needed hugs. If they needed to eat, we fed them. And we did that."

Wouldn't it have been very difficult to give birth to 3 babies in one year (She says in the article tlcya linked that the first baby was born a year ago). Impossible for them all to have been full-term babies. And why did she keep getting pregnant? Surely whoever was getting her pregnant knew she was getting bigger.

It was the first baby that the police found that she birthed a year ago according to the article but didn't say when she birthed the other two but the first one they found was the more recent birth which would've been a year ago so the other two babies were prior to that one and to be honest she is a bigger woman and I've met multiple women that didn't look pregnant at all just because they were already big in the middle so I do think she probably hid the pregnancy especially since she murdered those innocent babies she obviously didn't want people to know about them

Does it happen every pregnancy? I don't think post partum depression does, but I don't know about Psychosis.

Not necessarily if she was still continuing to do her everyday activities without mental disruptions then it shows that was under control mentally and for one baby she might have an argument but for 3 over a span since they were all born alive it would've been over years and she never sought help for any of them but yet went to work, cared for other children or family members of hers and continued to live a normal life with normal activities and obviously a rich sex life without any protection than it seems like she was in control of the messed up situation she put herself in and you typically can't get post Pardum until after birth up to the first year but im guessing she didn't go to a Dr about her pregnancy for any of them or there would some sort of follow up so she can't claim post pardum since she never realistically tried to have her children healthily born from the get go.

I really don't understand these types of cases, there must be some sort of mental health illness. To have three pregnancies, and give birth, then kill the baby, and put it in a trash bag, but not throw out the evidence? Instead, she keeps them together and leaves the bag for someone else to find?

Megan Huntsman gave birth to and killed 6 babies over 10 years time and kept them in boxes in her garage. She’s serving a few life sentences in prison.

Not only did she apparently hide pregnancies, but deliveries too. Deliveries are usually not fast or necessarily easy. Did she go through labor alone and nobody in the household noticed? She worked, apparently 50 hours a week - did she take a day off for labor and then go right back to work? This is all so odd.
