When I was in graduate school, I had an upstairs neighbor who worked until about 2 a.m. or so, and she would do various household chores when she got home, probably she couldn't get to sleep right away and had to unwind. The vacuum cleaner was the worse.

I thought KG wasn't in that area until that weekend. That she only came down from her parents' house to show off her "new" car. But she was hanging out with folks in the Moscow area the week before too? Am I missing something? I know the others aren't IDed but is the assumption that they weren't university friends?
TIA

I thought the same thing and then re-read the article. The two friends with KG weren't identified, so I wonder if they were friends of KG's who lived nearby her parents' home where KG was staying.

It's just as rude running a garbage disposal at 4am when you're living with someone (parents in this case). lol You'd think his mom would have asked him not to do that the next morning and that would have been his clue. Neighbors likely aren't going to confront you over something like that.

Which begs the question... just what does he feel the need to grind up in a garbage disposal at 4am?? It's rather odd.
From what (little we know), until moving to WA, BK lived with his family. Random explanations:
  • his parents' house is a good size; maybe they couldn't hear the disposal from their bedroom
  • the parents are heavy sleepers
  • the parents are also night owls
I'm a night owl--always have been according to my mom. I easily stay up late on occasions when I do not have to be up early. My siblings and I often stayed up late during the summer. We were not loud on purpose, but definitely not trying to be quiet. We never disturbed our parents. I wouldn't be surprised if someone who'd always lived with fam who wasn't bothered by his activity, would have a lack of awareness of how noisy his actions would be in an apartment.

One can always complain to the building administrator, no?

Usually, there is so called "night quiet" from 10 pm to 7 am in apartment buildings.

But Im not sure about the USA.

Maybe. Thanks.

Maybe. Often if complexes cater mostly to students (grad or undergrad) those quiet time rules are kind of out the window. At least that's been my experience.

The article says the photos were taken on November 6 at Silver Lake Mall. That mall is is Coeur d'Alene, ID which is where she was from.

"What is happening in Pullman this year??" a WSU student said in a comment on the campus police department's Facebook post.

It says in the article it was taken at Silver Lake Mall. If you look it up, the mall is in Coeur D'Alene.

My experience too. Unfortunately, some of this is just the reality of apartment living, especially if everyone there is in some program that requires different hours. In residency, I worked 24-hour shifts often and night shifts not infrequently, as did others in the complex where a lot of residents lived. When I'm working nights for 2 months straight, that means I'm at work from 7 pm - 7 am and often, much later. If I don't get home until 8 pm or later (some nights, 11 pm), you'd basically be saying I can't do anything but walk around my apartment during my "day". I don't know if BK's apt complex had a similar vibe, but it could just be that there were no such rules or if there were, it was understood that most people would break them.

MOO

Edited typo.

I may be wrong but I think the running partner was in high school in PA.
That's my belief. I couldn't find anything Goog'ing for jogging with neighbors more recently than his HS jogs. Here's my post with info and vid of old HS jogging partner:

What were the WSU and Dropbox search warrants and how do you think those fit into this?
rsbm

I've been thinking about this today, going over the pieces...

What if the WSU warrant is about computer usage but it didn't come from a CI? IMO JMO WSU has probably done some of their own due diligence review (or more than some), and maybe WSU identified a BK virtual hidey-hole. Maybe the warrant is for the computer or network access that belongs to WSU, but there might be things within the description of what is to be seized and from where that the court believes would be problematic, if revealed. So LE gets the warrant, gets access, runs the analytics, etc. and bingo, there is his Dropbox - but completely not tied to him - so warrant to Dropbox... and from there are his secret Tinder and Yik Yak accounts and who knows what else...

I'm thinking he probably had a hidey-hole or two, both virtual and physical. Just for WS, I use a laptop no longer related to me, completely stripped twice now, VPN and my neighbor's WIFI. It wasn't intentional, just happened that I ended up with it again and kept it. But it's otherwise invisible in my life. I'm not committing a crime, but if I were? If LE didn't know about this laptop, and I was surfing on someone else's wireless, it doesn't leave an easy trail, esp if they find my actual laptop during a search. There's literally nothing else to tie them and this to me. can they find it? yes. would they eventually? yes. would it be easy? no. maybe that's what that warrant situation looks like? IDK jmo but another way to think about this.

It seemed like those photos were taken near her home. JMO

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed> I seem to recall LE pleading for information early on and emphasizing that they weren’t interested in prosecuting anyone for underage drinking etc.

it would be a real surprise to me if MPD didn't have a bit of a finger on who the local dealers are, but I believe these things can be contracted out.
