It's more an issue of translation, IMO. Detectives are not in the habit of conversing with individuals who provide significant leads to say "That was a great tip. Here's how the information you have provided shapes up." So when SG keeps saying they may have uncovered a connection, what he really means is, "We believe there is a solid connection between Kohberger and some of the victims, but we are discouraged from stating precisely what that is." Same for evidence showing advanced planning. SG isn't pulling this from thin air. The family have uncovered things through grit and determination. They are keen for the world to see who the defendant truly is, and how much pain he has caused.
I am in total agreement with you. The point of my post was that 48 hours is putting out a new episode as if this was new information. SG stated this months ago, soon after BK was arrested.

This is on point:
Judge Ito effectively agreed with what lawyers for both sides, along with representatives of various news groups and the American Civil Liberties Union, told him today: that whatever mistaken reporting on the case had taken place had happened outside the courtroom, not inside; that rather than encourage irresponsible reporting, cameras could both check and correct it, and that in a case crucial to public faith in courts, television was essential.

I think (moo) he let us know in his very first hearing the disdain he had for the press when (this was my take only) he threatened attys for AP coalition with sanctions for using the words "irreparable harm" in a 1A brief. Words that would appear AFAIK in just about every single 1A brief.jmo

I'm only at the start of this but the Judge says the press and public have access to the courtroom (without cameras) but is this really an accurate statement? Wasn't it said on multiple occasions that his courtroom was the size of a bathroom? I recall Brian Entin remarking about the small size and lack of seating.
