That's an fascinating question about whether BK will want or need to be understood. I have always wondered what makes the difference between someone who wants or needs their crimes to be "understood" versus killers who don't care at all about that.

The other day, I caught the tail end of a program on ID. The confessed killer was suspected of more murders, but they didn't have the evidence to charge him for those. The guy's wife had stood by him through it all. He said he wanted to talk to the FBI's profilers and psychologists to understand why he did the things he did. The detectives told him the FBI wouldn't the interested in him because he was not a serial killer. They said he sat there a minute, looked at his wife, then proceeded to confess to the other murders so the FBI would talk to him! Blew my mind at first, but I was very impressed that the detectives recognized a need of his that they could exploit.

Wow, great use of very basic reverse psychology there by detectives!

Also, possibly true... nobody at the FBI really interested in your 'special and different' psychology dude, not here to facilitate your greater understanding of yourself, tell it to a therapist or priest or something.

No I cannot picture BK admitting to the world anything to do with these murders. He is too arrogant and self assured (he's the smartest guy in the room according to him and a lot of the people in class and the few friends he did have), although on the other hand, socially, he is a complete square peg trying to fit into a round hole.

MOO
I wonder if he would see it as bragging. He was so smart that he managed to get in and out and murder four people without being stopped. So many people have said they struggle with accepting that one person could do so much damage in such a short amount of time, that there must be someone else involved. He might see that as a point of pride, which is horrible but possible.

yep, old Rexy had no clue he was being surveilled.

They kept the idea that they were onto him so quietly so long.. amazing job especially with 30 agents working on the case

Sure does pique my curiousity, that's for sure. If there were no meaningful returns on those warrants, there'd be no need to seal and redact, methinks. ICBW of course.

And of note: AT's statement of BK having no connection to the victim was made in June (25th?) 2023. Note the return dates on these 3 warrants: Microsoft and TikTok are August 25th, Meta was Sept 12th.

Trying to think if we've read/heard/seen the defense continue to make that claim after these return dates

We have not. It was a statement but not a repeated one, to my recollection.

Bryan is a "know it all" and intelligent "book wise." I can tell from the Pullman video of his traffic stop that he will talk your ear off and has all the answers and quick retorts and arguments.

I do not see him quietly sitting there listening to his counsel for more than a couple minutes before he pipes up his theories on the case and his ideas on defense - his arguments against LE's evidence against him.

He probably has all the answers to the evidence against him including this "surprise" evidence we are supposed to hear about at trial during defense questioning. This being his alibi.

2 Cents

"Mr. Kohberger was out driving alone," the defense team added. "Corroborating evidence may come from cross-examination of state's witnesses. Corroborating evidence may come from presentation of defense experts. Mr. Kohberger is aware of and will comply with his continuing duty to disclose information."
Were the coveralls ever listed in the inventory recovered by police?

If BK had NOT left the sheath behind, would this an unsolved crime?

Coveralls are pure speculation.

Interesting question. I wondered about that too. Had he not left the sheath would he have been arrested?
Would he be free now?

Maybe someone on here has ideas.

Tell you what, if he hadn't left the sheath and had left his phone home, I do not think he would have been arrested.

I have wondered this many times. What else did LE have to go on / could they have gone with if not for the sheath and where would it have left them ?

Yes, discarded pizza can be a big blunder in a murder case. Darren Wint doing LWOP because he left some discarded pizza I a box behind, after he murdered a family in Wash DC. His DNA sealed his pathetic fate.

ETA:
On May 14, 2015, three members of the Savopoulos family—Savvas, Amy, and their son Philip—as well as their housekeeper, Veralicia Figueroa, were killed at the Savopoulos home in Washington, D.C. The victims were held hostage for 19 hours, starting on May 13.

I wonder what the 1 pm meeting tomorrow is about? Anyone remember?

At 1 pm PT, the court will hold a second hearing for Kohberger, but this will be open to the public and broadcast live on CourtTV.com. That hearing will address a separate motion from the defense, which is asking the judge to reconsider his previous refusal to dismiss the indictment for inaccurate instructions to the grand jury. That motion argued that the grand jury should have been told to find “proof beyond a reasonable doubt” rather than current Idaho law, which states, “The grand jury ought to find an indictment when all the evidence before them, taken together, if unexplained or uncontradicted, would, in their judgment, warrant a conviction by trial jury.”

Following the hearings, the judge has set a scheduling conference, where the parties are expected to set a date for what is predicted to be a six-week trial.

The 11:00am hearing is closed and will feature arguments to dismiss based on what the defense refers to as biased grand jury, inadmissible evidence, lack of sufficient evidence and prosecutorial misconduct.

The 1:00pm hearing is open and will be arguments pertaining to what the defense believes were inaccurate grand jury instructions.

After those hearings, Judge Judge plans to hold a scheduling hearing, which would set the trial date and future hearing dates in the case.
