Other reporters who were on the 14th floor tell me Rafferty offered to meet with Tara McDonald to "fill in the blanks" about what happened.

I think if I were her, this would be very hard to resist - because she still doesn't really know. I think any little scrap of information would seem precious, even if it came from a peice of sh**. Wonder if she'll do it?

We should be blaming LE for not obtaining the proper warrant to allow the evidence in the first place. The seizure of the laptop had been questioned by a superior officer asking if the proper warrant had in fact been issued, it was ignored and that is why the evidence was suppressed. At the end of it all it wasn't necessary as the jury convicted on the assault without it.

I do not blame LE. They did have the correct warrant at the time. Laws were changing. Another judge may have ruled differently. The judge was also concerned with character issues.

Outside of court Rodney Stafford says he hopes Rafferty enjoys doing his time, doesn't care what he said.

Rafferty had his day in court, the trial was all about determine he guilt or innocence and through his attorney he said he was innocent. Today was about the victims, their day to let him know how he demolished life as they once knew it. He should have kept his mouth shut if he wasn't going to take responsibility for his actions.

And im sorry, I also think it was inappropriate for the judge to make the comment about his ruling that the computer stuff could not be presented during the trial.

I hope she doesn't fall for his slimy, psychopathic, manipulative tricks.

It wasn't ignored. The person in charge said the laptop was covered by the search warrant for the car. The ruling the judge used to say that a laptop was a place not a thing and therefore needed a separate search warrant wasn't even handed down by the court until weeks AFTER the laptop was searched.

LE did nothing wrong, and if you listen to the judge and his character/being a pervert doesn't mean you are a murderer rap if he hadn't thrown it out under the very questionable search warrant excuse (the rules at the time of the event are suppose to the guideline, changes down the road are not retroactive)... if they had magically seen into the future and got a search warrant for the laptop he would have excluded the child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 as prejudicial.

Being a pervert doesn't mean you are murderer. He wasn't going to allow it anyway. LE did their job and did it well.

Start dissecting their brains, or something.

Rafferty eligible for parole in 2034.

Scary to think if parole is granted he could target my grandchildren at that point!!!

He's a proven liar. Why would anyone believe him? He had his chance and never testified. What will he say? TLM did it and he had nothing to do with it? He won't admit guilt so what's the point of continuing to torture Tori's family?

He's a psychopath and murderer!

Do not fall for his lies Tara... don't give him the satisfaction.

Me, too... but as a Mom, wouldn't there be a part of you that would hope that you could get just one more bit of insight into what really happened? I'm concerned for Tara. What an awful choice to have to make.

  • #258
We'll have to agree to disagree. The fact that he objected to the child 🤬🤬🤬🤬, in my opinion, disgusts me. So does the Judge for not allowing it in.

NP, I can do that! I understand exactly what you're saying and I'm thoroughly disgusted as well by the omission of vital, key evidence. But...... the jury found MR guilty for the right reason.........not because of his morally corrupt and bankrupt character but because the evidence of the actual crime showed he was an active participant in that crime. He was found guilty of "bad actions" not "bad character", if that makes sense.

An appeal would be guaranteed if all that evidence had been presented and he was found guilty. The argument would have been his bad character tainted the jury's opinion of him.

I couldn't agree with you more. It would honestly torment the hell out of me if I were in her shoes now. The proof is still in the evidence and I don't believe for a second it would change her mind of the verdict, but I know I would always wonder what it is he knows and wants to say to me.

Why offer it to Tara and not Rodney?
