I would say it was highly unlikely that he would have even seen his mother's SSN. Most people don't remember another person's SSN because there is no real reason to do so unless you are into Identity theft. (Back then it wasn't an issue.)

I think the draft angle is a good one to pursue. I don't think the military really knows if BK was a member of the service or not, imo.

I should have been more specific in my post-I meant that it could be the SSN of someone close to him.

NB states that BK is not a numbers guy, so he does not readily remember numbers. I suffer from that as well, but my SSN is something that sticks with me, as well as the SSN's of my children...I just find it interesting that the numbers which may be related to an SSN that has relevence to BK fall in line somewhat with his general beliefs regarding himself and I think this is a very good thing.

Eye color is off, but look at this guys birth date, plus I think he has similar nose:

Interestingly enough, there is a Darrell Calhoun who lived in Indianapolis in the mid 1990's AND a Darryl Calhoun who lived in Richmond Hill, GA as of 2002 (with a wife named Lydia). I do not know if they are all the same person.

Gary has crossed our path, IIRC. Rodney has not been discussed I think. Darrell has a height difference of about 5 inches, so I am not really sold on him given that he is also believed to have brown eyes.

He believes he was born and raised in Indiana. That would give him an SSN that begins 312-318. He remembered an SSN that began 3x5-44-xxxx.

The group number (next two digits) appear to have been assigned in Indiana to people whose year of birth runs roughly from 1943-1955 IIRC....yes there are exceptions, but in general that is the pool of people who received SSN's that started 315-44-xxxx.

Did that make more sense or did that confuse you more?

FWIW: There is a possibility that the Powell family does not know him because he was given up at birth...

I did a search for Catholic orphanages in Indiana, and the main orphanage was in Vincennes, Indiana---St. Vincent's Villa. There was also a The Carmelite Home for Boys in Gary, Indiana.

An interesting thing that I researched is BK's memory of the White River "when it was a dumping ground". It appears that it was not "known" that it was a dumping ground for pesticides until the early 1990's, and was considered one of the most threatened rivers in 1997.

I found a Benjamin Powell who was born Aug 29, 1950 and died in March 1975 in Virginia. His social is 231-74-7792 Notice the 3 in the first section and the 4 in the second section?

Hey maybe a public service message for NameUs. He does enough about 'dead beat dads' and fathers participating in their childrens lives..... I am certain if he appeared on any national news network, that would be repeated a few times over a few days, there is no way he would not be identified!

The trick would be to go through the First Lady and get her interested in the plight for our missing, uids, and Benjaman. The Pres is a little busy. LOL

I had an idea I thought I would mention to you guys about the documentary. James and crew wanted input and I was thinking about all the comments we had after the Dr. Phil show. Some of those comments could be very constructive since they were things people felt were not addressed by Dr. Phil or his staff. Maybe someone could help me go through the old threads and track down some of those items which would be pertinent to the documentary. It would give the production crew food for thought at least.
