5801 Eagle Drive for sale

I couldn't live in the house on Eagle Drive. Nor could I live in the house where JonBenet died.
This thought has honestly crossed my mind sooo many times! I'd be TOTALLY creeped out!

Calling Marine Mom,

Just a question. Is your real name Tami? Curious b/c I just read a blog comment on MSN spaces and it was signed Marine Mom.

I know there are many MMs but just was wondering if it was you!

Maybe everybody else already knows this and I'm just a dork, but have you noticed that the link to the former Routier home is on the JFD website?
That is a bit odd. Apparently the website owner finds anything connected to the murders of interest. I wonder why.

No, I didn't know that and for some reason it strikes me as very odd that they would feel a need to include it on their site. But then, I've found ALL of their actions odd from the night of the murders, clear on through to the present day!
JFD site is not the family. That owner is a long time supporter though. As far as I know the family has not put a link to the house for sale stuff on their site (fordarlieroutier.com).

Beesy, I was bracing myself but it didn't happen. :)

HeartofTexas, Mead/Westvaco is the heart and soal of Covington. If it ever went under, the town would shrivel up. We say there's 10,000 people, but that's stretching it. Huge, lovely old homes with high ceilings, humongus rooms, oversized wrap around porches...millionaires and average folks live in the same neighborhoods. Very few people "put on airs." And the view!
Wow! Sounds like my aunt's house in Appomattox. I loved it. It was a fine old home on a huge lot with humungous old trees. I can't remember the porch exactly but it had high ceilings and hardwood floors, a screened in porch, a sitting room or parlor just off the foyer and a big living room off the foyer the other way. I suppose it is modest compared to what you are talking about, but me in my little girl's mind found many things to fantasize about it. I always thought Appomattox would be a lovely place to grow up. Everybody knows everybody there.

Would anyone be willing to tell me the names of some of the papermill towns in Virginia? I grew up in Virginia, and sometimes think of moving back there... but don't really know any areas to investigate and check on real estate prices. I do know that I could never afford to go back to the area I grew up in... Virginia Beach. The prices there are through the roof!
Aren't there a lot of coal mines in VA too?

I always thought Virginia Beach would be a great place to retire. Never hear of any hurricanes up there, but then winters are cold, aren't they?

I have cousins in Richmond or used to. I wonder what they are all doing now.

Before the govt. made the mill clean itself up, you could only hang laundry on certain days, unless you wanted black soot on your clean clothes. We can't smell it much anymore, only on days when the clouds are low pushing the smell towards us.

Looking at the pictures of this house made me so sad. Two little boys used to run around that yard and up and down the stairs there before they were brutally murdered. It's just so sad. I could never live in a house where something like that happened. Even is someone had never heard of the Routier case, surely they would find out before they bought the house because of the noteriety of the case.
Hi, new mom. I love your signature. I remember those days. hahahahahah.

I once lived in an apt in an old house that we swore was haunted. All kinds of strange things were always happening. Later we learned that the house used to be a funeral home before converted to apts. Never made sense to me why spirits would hang out there since they were already dead when they arrived, but they were definitely there. Very creepy. So I don't think I would ever want to live in a house where someine died a violent death. They say that souls whose bodies die suddenly and violently sometimes can't find their way to the light, they get confused I guess. Whatever, I think if one did live in a house where someone was murdered, it would be so easy to get so caught up in the dead's life and what happened to them that it could ruin their life even if the place wasn't haunted.

After I received all of the books and especially MTJD, I was pretty freaked out about this whole thing. I never sleep good anyway, but I kept waking up at the same time every night. Turns out to be very close to the time of the murders. I had to take a step back from talking about this case and think about other things. I don't even like looking at that house. I'd never go into it, much less buy the damn thing. I think it should just be torn down.
You've heard me talk of my friend who was killed by her husband and they were never able to pin it on him? Well, get this......about a year or so after the murder, I needed a ride to work so I called down there and one of the guys said he would said someone over to pick me up. (There was snow on the ground and Goody doesn't drive in snow.) Anyway, guess who they sent? I couldn't believe it. And when I got out there to meet him, guess what he was driving. It was his wife's car that he had just gotten back from police impound. The car that had been parked in the hotel parking lot with her body stuffed in the trunk for 10 days. I was terrified but I didn't want him to know, so I made myself sit in the passenger seat. I just knew she was going to pop in the back seat and start screaming that he did it. (By then I knew he had) I sat rigid all the way to work, and when I got there as soon as I could I took the fellow, who had sent him, aside and chewed his butt out. I swear if anything had happened on that ride to the shop, my face would have cracked. That is how tense I was. I couldn't believe he was driving that car around like nothing had happened. <shudder>

Geez, Goody, what an insensitive coworker to send a likely murderer to pick you up, and in the car the body was found in, no less! With my overactive imagination, I can't see me handling that ride too well! LOL!

I was much younger when I lived in Virginia. Our winter home was in Norfolk, but our summer home was at Va. Beach. Well, actually a private end of Va. Beach called Sandbridge. We lived down there from Memorial Day to Labor day every summer, and it was glorious! I really miss the East Coast and the sense of history it has. It may just be a dream to move back to Virginia, but I'm not giving up on my dream yet! And yes, winters can be cold there but I don't remember it as being horrible. I don't think Va's winters are as bad as many areas on the East Coast. Of course, I've been away for so long that I could be very wrong!

Beesy, I can't find any local real estate companies on the web for your area. I've found plenty to do with cemetaries, though! LOL! Do you recall the names of any local real estate companies that might show some properties online? I'm not particularly interested in the newer homes, although I might have to settle for them.

O, she was a wonderful girl. A lot like Laci, I think, except she was blonde. Only 27 when she died. A warm, friendly girl who went home that day to tell her cheating husband (she had only caught him 5 times with the same woman and that didn't even count all the others) that she wanted a divorce. They say he hit her straight in the nose with his fist, knocked her unconscious, then laid her down where she choked to death on her own blood. They said he had sat her up instead, it would not have killed her because it was really just a minor injury. They never could place her at the house though so they couldn't prove she ever made it home that night from work. He said she hadn't. It was very sad.
