A Closer Look at John Fernie

I have wondered if the Fernies were invited specifically so John Fernie would park around the back and create outside disturbance, not only foot prints around the house but tire tracks on the road and back entrance too. The Fernies are the only ones who would be travelling from south if they approached from Baseline, along 15th St, then turned into Cascade to the back entrance.

I don't know why some say it would have taken them over 20 minutes to get there, unless a faster route has been constructed since 1996. Google maps says 3.6 miles, 9 minutes drive with usual traffic.

Good thinking. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the police had already searched for tracks outside before he arrived, correct? This is all so effing confusing. I know Fernie said he read the ransom note while it was still on the ground, which makes it seem like he arrived there before all the other officers; and also makes it seem like he was called before police somehow (the cell?).

I just find it so odd: your child is supposedly missing, and instead of tearing the house apart (both before and immediately after calling police, which is what any normal parent would do), you waste time calling multiple friends over instead? What the f... it's almost like PR wanted to turn this into a big game of Clue.

I have a lot more on this topic. I will say this though. Schiller has John Fernie arriving at 6:01am. Or almost simultaneously with French. If Patsy got off the phone at 5:55am from the 911 call, and called the Fernie’s, how did JF make it there at 6:01am? He lived at least 13 minutes away. It was 9° that morning. It would have taken extra time to scrape windows warm up car.

1. Car was probably kept in the garage; therefore, no ice scraping needed.
2. Fernie most likely sped there.

^ Yeah, I was just going to say, he (assumingly) parked in an attached (i.e. heated) garage. But even so, he still made it there incredibly fast.

So just when did JF arrive?

Just after 6:00am- “Fernie wondered if the source had provided the reporter with all the facts. He knew that his own footprints were there in the snow that morning. He had driven up the back alley to the Ramseys’ house just after 6:00am in response to Patsy’s frantic call that terrible morning. He remembered walking along the brick sidewalk to the patio door, looking through the glass panel, and reading a line or two of the ransom note, which was lying on the floor just inside the door. Then he had run through the snow-covered grass, around the south side of the house, to the front door.”(Schiller PMPT)

• “Priscilla took the call, and within minutes the Whites were dressed and on their way to the Ramseys’ house. When they arrived, the police and John Fernie were already there. Patsy was on the floor, hysterical, and her husband was trying to comfort her. It was still dark outside.”(Schiller PMPT)

• “Before he finished reading the ransom note, he told Patsy to call the police. Immediately afterward, Patsy called the Whites and Fernies and told them something terrible had happened. “Barbara, get over here as fast as you can,” she said to her friend. Seven minutes after Patsy’s call to 911, Officer French was at their front door.(Schiller PMPT)

• “John Fernie told the police that he was the first of the Ramseys’ friends to arrive. His wife, Barbara, came later in her car. As Fernie drove over, he thought that John must have had a heart attack, since Patsy hadn’t told his wife what had happened. Fernie parked his car in the alley behind the Ramseys’ house and ran to the patio door on the south side, which he always used. It was locked. When he looked through the glass-paneled door, the lights were on and he could see some papers lying on the wooden floor. They were not facing him, but from where he stood, he could read the first few lines of one page. That was all he needed. He understood immediately that JonBenét had been kidnapped. Once inside the house, he read the entire ransom note.”(Schiller PMPT)

Yes, and I often wonder why he felt the need to say that 5 years later.

Because if there's a priest in the house, certainly no one there would be able to lie, of course!

Let me just say that I am thrilled to have fresh eyes look into some of the dark, mysterious corners of this murder investigation. Truly, it is a blessing to watch new interpretations of the data being presented on JonBenet's forum.

I stayed for a week at Chautauqua Park, a few years ago. It exits onto Baseline. It took only a matter of minutes to arrive at the unkept alleyway behind the Rs home. I don't recall there being but one stop sign along the way and that was at Pearl Street. There is no way JF could read that RN unless he was clairvoyant.

If the Rs were concerned the kidnappers were watching the home, why not have everyone, including LE, park in the alleyway? We know the answer. There was no concern over kidnappers watching over them.

The amount of $100s and $20s the RN demanded had to be reasonable enough that a bank would have that amount of cash to dole over to John. Wasn't JF assisting JR in asking the bank for a cash advance on his credit card?

There was also a giant Christmas wreath hanging on the South Patio door. There is no way he read the note. So, why did he say that he did?

“Around 7:00pm, John Ramsey went for a walk with John Fernie and Dr. Francesco Beuf, JonBenét’s physician, who had brought over some medication for Patsy. When they returned a half hour later, Ramsey asked Bynum to represent him.”(Schiller PMPT)

By most accounts, John Fernie was the first friend to arrive at the scene that morning. Fernie, even told police he was the first friend to arrive. Now let’s go to the phone records to see exactly when the Fernie’s were called that morning.

Wait. Phone records?

"The AirTouch cell phone records were useless. Ramsey started the service in January 1994. AirTouch said that 91 minutes of use were logged during the August-September billing period of 1996, and 108 minutes were used in September-October. October-November was just as busy. December, however, the only period we were allowed to see, was empty. No calls at all. I asked if someone could have removed billing records from the computer. “No way,” the Airtouch source told me.(Thomas ITRMI)

Yes way

Remember Tricia wants to interview folks beginning on Monday, Jan. 8 for her podcast.

Cottonstar,
I have a theory about JFs storytelling. It is not good so I fear to post it on a public forum. One can tell by his sworn testimony that he was blunt and annoyed, to the point of almost being evasive, and dashed away as quickly as possible. When it was all said and done, he and his wife perhaps realized they'd been duped or they knew the truth of the matter bc of reasons I should not mention on a public forum.

•If Patsy called the Fernie’s at let’s say 5:55am, and John Fernie arrived at 6:02, shouldn’t he have seen John on the phone trying to call his pilot from the kitchen nook phone? Furthermore, the Fernie’s lived 3.6 miles from the Ramsey’s house. With the cold, icy, and hilly roads, this drive would take about 15 minutes. Give Fernie at least 4 minutes to communicate with his wife Barbara about what was going on, get out of bed, throw on some clothes, shoes, grab keys, and head out to his van. We are looking at least 6:12am. If Fernie’s van was parked outside that night, then it would have taken another few minutes to scrape off the ice from his windows.

Are you two saying that you believe Fernie was involved in the crime? Honest question.

In the murder. No.

Ah, just the cover-up. Interesting.

 • #119
Not necessarily the cover-up. But, you do wonder about JF. First, you have the fabricated story of being able to read the note through the door(IMO). Then you add that he was the one that “discovered” the open butler pantry door, even though French, Reichenbach and JR all reported that all doors were locked and secured.

"Fernie seemed to recall that someone, John Ramsey he thought, had said that the doors to the home had been checked the previous evening and that all had been dead-bolted and securely locked. Ramsey had checked the doors again that morning to be certain that JonBenét had not gotten out of the house. At one point that morning, the time uncertain, but as police were processing the scene, Fernie reported that a draft was coming through the house, and he located the source: the door on the north side of the house by the Butler Pantry was standing open, and he shut it." from "Foreign Faction: Who Really Kidnapped JonBenet?" by A. James Kolar

Hmmmm. Not buying it.

"December, however, the only period we were allowed to see, was empty. "

Anyone knows more details about cell phones?

I met information one was lost and a new one was given for Christmass. I was watching for matters around the lost phone but it is heavily unsourced.

I wonder why the Police were not checking Fernie arrival time.

Another thing. Minutes for the phone = 0 but what about text messages?

These phone records = money so I think it is really hard to reduce payment. What plan Were Ramseys using?

I had my 1st cellphone close to 96 and most business contracts had some amount of free minutes/SMSes and so on.
