FYI; this Dec 14, 2010 Topic.com post, that I found long ago, might be of interest:

Dec 14, 2010 when this topix.com post was posted, the 4 Long island bodies had not yet been identifyed, so noone knew the bodies found were prostitues, neither that they had advertised on craigslist !!!

SO, how could the poster "Male Bondage " from Long island Central Islip, Dec 14, 2010 know they were "craigslist prostitutes" !!!???

The very first body identifyed was Megan Waterman and she wasn't indentifyed until January 19, 2011!!

Thank you so much Shadow that was very informative.
It's gonna take me awhile to digest, but I'm sure to have questions as I do.

The pursuit is what galvanizes this type of hunter, who, otherwise, experiences life as a somewhat bland, colorless, existence. The hunter with this underlying motivation will have spent the majority of his time engaging in the pursuit. Once he has "caught" the victim, he will be returned to a state of boredom, and the victim's death and disposal is likely to be swift. Though, he may take trophies to record successful kills.

This is exactly how I see LISK, Shadow. Which is why I don't believe he dismembers.

Wow! I hate to sound cliche, but the only way he could know, is if HE is the killer! You should call that in. They could find this guys IP address and question him.

SG was in the news and associated with CL so I think that's why it was referenced.

I just tried to send the tip via Suffolk County Crimestoppers BUT when I klicked the send button with the tip this came up:

Error: This service is no longer available. Your tip could not be delivered to the agency. Call 911 instead for all future tips.

How odd is that!!!???

Anyone here on WS who is a US/NY local, please feel free to call in the tip if you want.

Since I refer to "The Watcher" in "The Hunter" post, I'm posting the description below to reduce confusion, though, I do not believe for a minute the LISK falls into this archetype. Additionally, fwiw, while I no longer believe it applies, I originally developed "The Watcher" profile in response to the Jennings murders early on in the investigation due to the fact that all victims were known to frequent the Andrews Street house. Which is where the date bit comes in. That said...

The Watcher

The watcher would be someone who is very much a loner and likely even paranoid. He would likely be intimidated by women. While he wouldn't be able to look them in the eye and would talk very quietly, he would defintely come across as shy (as opposed to, say, "hiding something"), which in turn would keep them off guard.

He would also be hypervigilant. Perhaps glancing over his shoulder repeatedly, and flinching if someone came up unexpectedly. Bc of this, he probably buys his groceries online to avoid having to deal with standing in line and having someone standing behind him.

His house would be shuttered or curtains drawn at all times. He doesn't want anyone looking in. At the same time, he would be compelled to peer out. Someone like this would literally have pace marks on the floor by the window, bc he's pacing back and forth, only to intermittently stop to peer out. In this scenario, his focus would def be on the house.

That's his world and that's what he watches.

To his family and friends, his behavior might seem sort of jekyll and hydish. He would be the mild mannered, shy guy most of the time, but with the right trigger, his darker side would be revealed. Though, not in a way that people would necessarily think he'd get violent. Even so, his overall behavior would be disturbing enough to cause people to back off. To shy away. If asked why, they wouldn't really be able to explain. Bc of this, he would have few, if any, friends and he wouldn't do well in a job that involved people interaction. He'd make a great stock room worker if he is working. This type of job would also physically prepare him for lifting dead weight.

He would very likely have a mental health history. Probably some form of psychosis with paranoid features. Possibly, bipolar with psychotic and ocd features as opposed to schizophrenia. While there have been instances of schizophrenics who go violent, violence is generally not correlated with schizophrenia. Bipolar I, otoh, is. Also, during a manic phase, bipoloars can become extremely psychotic.

While he may not have a police record, LE may still have encountered him during an outburst, possibly even taken him to a local psych unit for a 72 hour hold. Noteably, there are three distinct periods of inactivity. One from may of 2005 to march of 2007, one from may of 2007 to may of 2008, and the last one from november of 2008 to august of 2009. These periods could represent hospitalizations.

Unlike murders that are done to keep the victim from talking or those done by a sexual sadist, the personal nature and violence of these murders indicate intense rage. So much so that he nearly decapitated one of his victims. The vics may have said something that set him off. Something that he would have taken as a personal affront. Whatever the case, there would have been some sort of trigger. It is unlikely that he would have tried to have sex with them while they were alive. So, the rapes would have been post mortem. Though, such behavior would not actually qualify as necrophilia. It would simply be something he was compelled to do after murdering them... to complete the ritual (not as in religious ritual, rather, an OCD ritual).

Unlike sexual sadist, he wouldn't be the type to revisit the scene. The murders and rapes would simply provide him enough relief to return to equilibrium. Hence, the jekyll and hyde effect. Also, unlike sexual sadist, this guy wouldn't know why he does it. It's not that he is necessarily gratified, rather, the acts would help to calm him down.

Oh and. You would find the women's clothing and shoes packed away in his house. Not necessarily as trophies per se. Rather, he just doesn't quite know what to do with them.

Importantly, no one would consider this guy dangerous. Even psych evals would not reflect such. Bc the murders would not be about fantasy. Rather, they would be about some sort of deep seated compulsion.

This is exactly how I see LISK, Shadow. Which is why I don't believe he dismembers.

An alternative view would be he realized the dismembering was an unneeded step in the process that posed risks in and of itself. If all parts were found in the same place it would be one thing but the extent of the scattering points to the main purpose being to prolong the identification process. so four to seven years after MV he exchanges the dismembering and left to be found for the left intact but hidden in a spot which he knows is a place nobody ever looks because after all he has used it before with good results.
In other words he's refined the process.
So were left guessing as always, I do know if I knew what LE knows it would at least be a more educated guess.

I'm pretty sure as fieldnotes pointed out, Craigslist was already being mentioned in the articles before that was posted.

Aren't luring, grooming and "dating "or talking on the phone considered elements of the stalking process, in some cases?

I have never had a request but I'm sure some do.

It has crossed my mind that a homicidal john is by default a stalker.

While the bodies were not identified untill later, I'm pretty sure on the local NY news maybe Fios1 they had stated police believed the bodies were escorts. I think the report was done a day or two after the bodies had been located. I'd have to locate the clip to backup my claim but I am almost positive. If it was the killer who posted that why say just set up a sting operation?

Hi. You are making a mistake. That poster is responding after reading the Newsday article linked by the first poster.

It reads;

Suffolk police believe a serial killer dumped the bodies of four women on a secluded spot along Ocean Parkway between Gilgo and Cedar beaches, and are using DNA from the families of two women who vanished on Long Island last spring to determine if any of the bodies are theirs.

Working with cadaver-sniffing dogs, investigators Tuesday completed a sweep of the road and believe no more bodies are there.

Police said both women had advertised on Craigslist as escorts and had traveled to Suffolk County to meet clients. Police said it could take weeks to make comparisons with the families of the two missing women and the four remains found in underbrush along the road.

On December 14th, the first poster (Plottmasteram) even wrote;
under the link to the Newsday article that he posted; http://www.newsday.com/long-island/suffolk/police-working-at-scene-of-grisly-discovery-1.2540757 because Newsday was indeed the first to mention Craigslist. But without having access to that complete article to know that it has the quote about the two missing who advertised on Craigslist, I can see how it could be confusing.

This is another example of enthusiasm and imagination making square pegs look like they can fit in round holes. Only can imagine how many dead-end tips like these the detectives must have to read and investigate. I give them so much credit for what they do.

Another, who regularly attended Seattle kink events, was investigated due to photos he'd posted to a fetish site. ( link ) Word on the Seattle kink scene grapevine is that this officer may have played a role impeding the investigation into Pinkton bc he was allegedly known to attend Pinkton's parties.

Supporting link and excerpt, published Jan 22, 2013.

Brown's lawsuit alleges the posts suggest the RCMP knew of Pickton's killing spree but failed to act "for fear of implicating one or more of their members in criminal activity," due to Brown's "lifestyle and predilections."

Brown has said he played a minor role in the Robert Pickton murder investigation in 1999, forwarding the information of a witness to the Vancouver Police Department and conducting surveillance shifts of the Pickton property.

Ward's response to the civil claim, however, alleges Brown "received highly relevant information provided by an informant, Ross Caldwell" and "The information... was accurate and, if it had been adequately followed up, might have led to the apprehension of Pickton three years before he was ultimately arrested."

I asked this question on the "Breaking News for Real" thread and got no response. So I will try again:

Question for anyone in the know:

Would a "train" be worth $900, $1000 or even $1500? Perhaps that was the "arrangement" being proposed. Thus, no camera/cellphone was allowed to protect the clients' identities?

Care to elaborate on what you mean by "train"?

No, we spoke about this phenomenon on another thread... just want to know if that might have been the high ticket request.

Escorts generally will have phones with them, because they need to be able to communicate. Part of that is for safety as well. If a client insisted they not bring a phone, they probably would not agreee to see him/her (and yes, women see escorts too). That would be a big red flag request.

Cell phones/cameras are usually taboo in the encounter itself, not that they aren't there but just that they have to be kept concealed (in a pocket or bag) to ensure they are not being used to record events. Both escorts and clients are paranoid about that, but it does happen from time to time.
