Well we saw her reaction to M1, any guesses as to what her reaction will be if the DEATH verdict is read?? Is THAT when we'll actually see the breakdown/cursing/angry looks/choking JW/lunging at Nurmi?

I really don't think so. She's not only playing a role for the jury, she's also playing a role for the TV audience. She'll keep it up until she's in private with her attorneys. IMO

When my daughter was having constant uncontrollable seizures after lack of oxygen to her brain for 3 minutes, the doctors put her in a medically induced pentobarbital coma for 5 days. The doctors explained to my husband and I that they were trying to make her brain activity basically "almost flatline" to give her brain a break from seizure activity and to hopefully stop the constant seizures.

It is my understanding that this is done frequently in cases like hers. We witnessed many children in the same situation as Emma being put in pentobarital medically induced comas for uncontrollable seizures.

The "waking up" part is the most agonizing to watch. I would not wish that on my worst enemy...

As I said, it is often used in seizure patients particularly when nothing else seems to work well to control the seizures. It is only used rarely as anesthesia in patients that are receiving surgery. That's what people usually mean when they talk about anesthetic drugs... as an anesthetic for surgery.

So, it appears that your daughter received this drug along with a number of other people as a seizure protocol. I hope that despite how aweful and frightening it must have been that what the doctors did proved beneficial for your daughter. (((hugs)))

Curious.......I was wondering what color was the ribbon JA's Gma was wearing. She seemed to be the only one wearing a ribbon.

purple. It's a Domestic Violence awareness ribbon.
Mom wears one too.

Apparently there's a closed hearing happening or about to. I saw Steven and Samantha Alexander enter the... http://fb.me/1GQI9PYpb

I wonder if this has something to do with the defense asking for the family to give their victim impact statements via video? Either that or we'll get an announcement soon that court has been canceled tomorrow and will reconvene in ____ days.

I agree for the time being that she isn't giving interviews. I think their relationship is so unstable and uncertain that it would be difficult. Some of the time, Jodi doesn't want to see her, which must break her Mom's heart. I wonder if her mom knew that Jodi had "issues", why she never sought help for her. If my childs friends were calling me in the middle of the night saying my kid was being weird, I'd be finding out why and trying to get them help. I know her mother is trying to do everything to help Jodi and she does what she's told to do. It must be hard when your daughter turns you away when you try to visit though. Wonder why some of their visits are described as "bad" by Jodi?

I don't care for the mother because of the behavior she has displayed in court. However, I do not agree that we can come to the conclusion (with info currently available) that her parents did not try to help Jodi.
It is VERY DIFFICULT to get help for a child over the age of 18. You cannot FORCE them to do anything, and in fact, your hands are tied in dealing with the doctors, counselors, etc due to privacy issues. They can't even tell you what is going on because of HIPPA laws (that is if you are lucky enough to get them to agree to see someone!).
They may have tried to get JA to get help, spoken to her friends, etc but JA would have most certainly resisted. With a family member who displays far more "disturbing" behavior than JA did (prior to the murder) I can tell you that once they are 18 you are pretty much screwed. It is their life and if they choose to live it in a mental health altered world you cannot stop them. Having tried SEVERAL times to get this relative committed as a harm to himself or others it is NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE! Even though he posted on FB a photo of him with a gun to his head and stated he was "done living", the hospital would not keep him overnight. It is unbelievably hard, heartbreaking and frustrating to love someone who doesn't love themselves enough to get help.
Instead, they continue to do more and more dangerous, stupid or illegal things and they end up in jail over and over again. It is a vicious painful cycle, often more for the ones who love them than the person themselves.

I asked the same questions and from what I was told here she will be wearing civilian clothes and not prison garb. I think she should be chained and shackled. After all she is now GUILTY.

Farm, I LOVE the way you think!!

I did get annoyed with Dr. Drew on this one last night. Been a couple of times over the past week where Mike Eiglarsh and another lawyer on the panel had more insight into mental health issues/corrections protocol. Drew does operate in a vacuum a lot of the time.

BBM and snipped by me

I agree. Lately DD has some strange ideas and advice that roll out of his mouth.

What about the male therapist that was on his show last night (cannot remember his name) ?? He said he believes Jodi does NOT have any of the conditions that everyone has labeled her with in the past 4-5 years. NONE OF THEM. He thinks she is a spoiled brat! What??????

I don't know what I would do; I've never had kids and never will.
All I know is that the Arias' are in a horrific situation and they're doing the best they can.
Clearly a lot of people (like 10-100 thousands) hate and blame them.
How would any of us deal with that sort of pressure?
I think they have shown truly remarkable restraint.

:seeya:

BBM: But the "restraint" shown by the Arias' family is NO where near the remarkable and tremendous amount of strength that we have seen by Travis' siblings !

How they do it, I just don't know ... :innocent: they have a lot more strength than I would have had :innocent: !

Oh, forgot to add..
JA said some of the visits are "bad" because they talk about difficult things. Also, I thought the mom was turned away because her visits were used up (only so many per day/week).

Sorry to ask you this, but trendy apparel? Oh come on! Jodi's apparel is straight from the Sear's Catalog 1982.

I've never shopped at Sears nor have I ever seen a Sear's catalog. I meant that Jodi wears civilian clothes instead of prison duds. That's all.

I've heard/read that attorneys get their clients' court attire from thrift stores like Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul, Goodwill, Purple Heart, etc. Having donated clothing to these agencies, I believe that they are primarily interested in "newer" clothing and not just any old castoffs that are unlikely to sell. Same with consignment stores who are very picky about their consigners and have specific criteria for the clothing that they will feature in their shops.

How do the AZ prisons do here where I live in SC the ones that got LWOP get to have male friends ...works outs at a gym.... ect. I don't know about the ones that got the DP
Hope their prisons are a lot worst than ours and others are.

On HLN per Mike, we're supposed to watch on a two screen Tv and then tweet immediately. :)

ummmmm I am a bit lost. Would you give a little more info please :please:

Does anyone know if Nurmi is done with her after this trial, or does he have to stay on as her lawyer through appeals? And if he's allowed off, can he discuss Jodi and the case, as in write a book?

A lawyer posted on here that she will have a new lawyer for her appeals because appeals are a special area of law that certain lawyers specialize in.

I agree 100 %, at that point she becomes CONVICT.
aww...leave her in street clothes! the jury may feel a smidge of sympathy for her in prison garb... take no chances!!

Purple....but I am not sure she even knew what the ribbon was for. JMO

Same goes with trying to get help for ANYONE who has issues or mental conditions over the age of 18. Most people are so critical when a family member does not step in and get help for that person.

I know because my brother has been fighting this battle for over 20 years with a wife who is mentally ill. He has to get his children involved every time she has an episode because the doctors will not take only his word for it. The laws are written now so the patient has more rights than some of the family members.

That is why I do not criticize the familys when they are up against many obstacles sometimes.

:banghead: I just turned on HLN ... and OJ Hearing is on :banghead:

I want to know WHAT is going on behind closed door with JA's defense !
