Has anyone ever saw the movie "From the Hip"? Defense attorney knows his client is guilty and feels morally obligated to have him put away but ethically cannot do it so he represents him in a way so that the defendant's own actions during the trial is exhibited to persuade them into finding him guilty. Sometimes Nurmi's arguments and statements make me think he's in this position. I know he tried to get off the case from the beginning. Sometimes he will say stuff and I think "why would you bring up that point?"

IF the jury comes back with guilty of aggravated whatever.

Does that pretty much seal the deal for the death penalty? I mean, they wouldn't find it was "extremely cruel" or whatever...and then not give her the DP? Right? What would be the point?

No, they're deciding if the DP is still on the table by finding TA's death was especially cruel. After mitigation phase, they'll vote on DP or LWOP.

No chance Nurmi convinced anyone of anything other than he wants to be heading home and be done with the murderer JA. Most of the time I thought he was working for the state. He threw a couple of bones out there so as not to lose his law license. :twocents:
