There's a movement going on, not only in Alaska, but in Canada, and I guess even London.

'See Me': Indigenous women take stand against human trafficking in London

Female demonstrators, with red paint handprints over their mouths and war paint across their eyes, drummed and sang to raise awareness about the toll human trafficking is taking on Indigenous women and girls.

Wearing war paint, with a red hand across her mouth, signifying the lack of voice for Indigenous women who are being trafficked across Canada...

and

Human trafficking is a particular concern for Indigenous People since Indigenous women make up about 50 per cent of trafficking victims, despite representing only four per cent of the Canadian population.

For anyone who hasn't done so already, you might want to check out HIS YouTube channel.

Because his name is a common name, the quickest way to find the right one is to type his name, then a space, then type his wife's name too. It has about 40 videos he's made and uploaded since 2014.

Can't get away from this case. MSN had his creepy face sliding past on their news story banner. The news article has a little more added info about Veronica. There's no death penalty in Alaska, so BSS is looking at a mandatory 99 yrs in prison. Guess it's almost a miracle that the memory card was found with enough evidence to nab this guy. It's so odd the way it happened.

Distinctive accent on torture video leads police to suspect

SBM

From your link: "Smith told police where he left Abouchuk's body. It was in an area near where State Troopers recovered a skull with a bullet wound earlier this year."

Did BSS decapitate Veronica Abouchuk after shooting her?

I could understand the wife's reaction if it was "a maybe", but in this case it's not...yes, off course she is in shock, has to process it...her whole live is collapsing....and that hurts real bad (if she didn't know anything about his "hobbies"). Yes, you could be in denial at first....but facts are facts. I would be sick to my guts, going over and over everything again and again....and come to terms with it...no not ever would I stand by him if he turned out to be a sadistic killer. I would feel betrayed....

Eric Copple's fiance/wife Lily Prudomme stood behind him fully. He confessed to the grusome Napa murders on Halloween of Lily's best friend and the friend's roommate. It was awful and I couldn't believe how she supported his cowardly lying murderous self.

  • #205
Let's say this is just my own opinion.

It's plain to see that BSS has clear racial divisions. He has strong opinions on which races deserve what, and even opinions on tree-hugging vegans. How many other indigenous women might he have killed? His friends say he's meek, but he tortured Kathleen. Did he feel all righteous to do as he pleased with people he deemed lower than himself? Lack of investigations can't be tolerated now. There's plenty of families waiting for LE to do more to find their missing loved ones. I'm glad there are two women (see pic) willing to protest, and hope there's more demanding LE find out if he's been responsible for more women disappearing. It certainly seems so.

I know, it's disgusting when a woman supports a man proven to be a child molester or killer. No excuses can make it right.

That's it? She didn't say more?
I really think she may be crucial in helping LE determine if there's other victims. Not sure yet if his MO is going to be killer of women in the area because remember BSS and his Wife traveled.

His wife made the mistake of sounding supportive when he first was arrested. The only other statement was the short one in the article PatLaurel posted. Okay, Wife may be in shock, but she needs to make another statement soon because people believe she's going to stand by her murderous man.

I'm puzzled his friends would describe him as 'meek'. His posts certainly don't sound like those of a meek personality. He doesn't look like a meek person either.

Google says: meek - quiet, gentle, and easily imposed on; submissive.

Brian Smith murder case: a couple's happier times

From the article:

By the time police announced a second murder connected to Smith, Bissland had returned to Alaska. We spoke with her as she was in the beginning stages of piecing her home back together after an extensive police search.

They'd rammed their way in, damaging the front door and frame. Then, scoured the garage, an office, crawl space, basement living area and bedrooms, seizing firearms, rope, memory cards, computers, hard drives, and more.

"They didn't take any of the bedding, but they took the carpet," Bissland said, referring to a swath of carpet from a downstairs living room on which police found a stain. Bissland questioned if it could have been wine, but said it was clear the police must have thought it was blood.

Standing in the disarray, among clothing piles and shuffled boxes, she spoke of the disconnect in her heart and mind between the man she married, and the crimes he's now accused of.

"When I think about that, I think about how could I have missed something like that?" she said. "We all have tempers at times, but I never saw one that would do what these people are describing."

She said her husband is a night owl, while she has a habit of turning in early. A light drinker who only occasionally stays out late with friends, he's a man who likes gadgets, tinkering and traveling the state.

.....
Bissland said police have suggested there may have been more to his outings than she knew, making statements like "'You don't know you're husband'" and "'What's he doing when he's gone?'"

She said she never thought about it, that she always thought he was working.

In some of Smith's videos, viewed by KTUU, Smith is seen flying a drone in his neighborhood. In one sequence, he pushes in on a black truck parked in his garage, which he refers to as a "chick magnet." It is similar in appearance to, and bears the same license plate as a truck described by police in their court-filed details of Henry's killing.

Other videos show Smith and Bissland swimming in the ocean, sharing a kiss, and beaming during happier times.

Just three years ago, it seems far away from their life now.

Oh.
I think she could have done without the 'prayer for him' comment. For one, it equates his needs with the victims' needs.
She can pray for him all she wants, but to ask the public for empathy for him... NOW is not a good time. We're looking for justice. I, for one, am not feeling sorry for him one bit. What mercy did he give the women ? !

Does it ever contain new info. Wow. Thank you!

From the article: "After operating a guest house in South Africa, he had hoped to once again own his own hotel and was making good progress toward that dream, she said."

This totally reminds me of H.H. Holmes' Chicago murder castle. Terrifying.

From the video story, police spokesperson MJ Thim says: "We were familiar with what we were seeing and hearing on the video."

BBM. We knew the accent tipped them off that he was the guy from the mysterious "other investigation". But if, as we've speculated, he filmed this with the GoPro, what did they see that was familiar to them? What is the other investigation? Do they have other snuff films?

And whose blood was on his carpet? He can't have shot Veronica in his home? Or maybe so.

Geez this dude is evil.

Edited for unruly apostrophe.

Could be his hands, possibly a ring, or his shoes maybe.

You're sharp. Good thinking, Elainera.
It sounds like a very unique ring. Getting a close-up photo of that ring
into news articles might help connect it to a missing person.

His wife did not see this coming at all. Maybe she thought she'd finally found the man of her dreams. It sounds like she's struggling to see him in that brutal-killer-of-women role. She can't connect him to the anger needed to beat someone to death (until your fists hurt). It's something other than anger, IMO. She hasn't accepted it yet, but once those pieces start to fall into place...oh boy.

She may lose her mind if that ring ends up being from some women he murdered.

Thanks for that. I really wish they would include the date of the interview. I’m guessing it was last Wednesday before she went to see him on that Thursday because after that is when he confessed and the news of Veronica broke.

She should make sure the cops get those other memory cards. As much as she says he was a good husband and did things for her I don’t get the impression he was that into her from that kiss - it doesn’t seem too genuine. I also didn’t see him too engaged on her FB page. I was right about that they met online.

It’s definitely creepy the way he used the GoPro to film them in the water. Same GoPro I’m sure he used to film the murder. She said he liked to travel around a lot and the cops knew he was cheating on her.

I’ll just keep checking back here for when the next bit of news comes out. Still wanna know about that memory card and the other investigation...
