@ jerseygirl, I think that could be, probably because I always use mine, I couldn't imagine not noticing its gone! It could be in the car just for gas in case they don't have cash, etc. I would think the person would have to be pretty bird brained, though, to not check everything out in his vehicle after watching it being robbed ( which could very well be!)

Are you kidding me? Sorry? Why? I love the way you think! Keeps us all on our toes & gives us all a chance to delve into another facet that could pan out or not... Don't you dare be sorry!

THIS is why this is a great forum.. people like Jersey (and so many others) who welcome new ideas instead of shutting people down. :D
Thanks, Jersey.. and the rest of you!

You know...if my hubby wasn't such a foreeeeeeek with thinking he knows it all, I would't be such a blitch about embarrassing him & proving him wrong...which leads me to say this: The idiot continued to leave his wallet in his work truck, including his gps...which of course enticed somebody to break into it last year and steal it all. The morons didn't take his tools but stole his wallet & gps. We had everything flagged bc yep you guessed it - the idiot had everyone's socials written down & stuffed in his wallet! We had to get all new cards, including medical - everything. Typical guy that doesn't even think!

Chances are this guy could have been like my hubby was last year. Lesson learned. He'll never do it again.

Wonder if this guy rides people's bumpers like my husband does sometimes. Waiting for him to clip somebody the doofus! Jkjkjk!

All this banking and ATM stuff confuses...all I want to know is what contact he had with Samantha, how LE tied him to her and where she is...JMO

That's what I am getting out. IK goes and where's the mask and all takes SK and whatever with her then He goes home makes a false report that someone broke into he's truck and says they had a mask and all the other bla bla before SK is reported missing that's the tie later SK is reported abducted they watch the video sees the guy mask hoodie and say wait we got a call last night that match this description so they track the card or account and the see activated in the account follow that to IK because he still has the card never canceled it. Would make sense to how he knows the pin because it's he's card so person A is IK.

If I call the police and say my card was stolen they take my info down and thats it.. I never call and cancel the card...

OT kind of but I worked for a bank in the past. Please, always call and report your card lost/stolen and also call the police and get a case number. If you don't do that and charges are made it will be harder to fight. I would hate to see that happen to anyone!

This may be out there -

What if it WAS Duane's card and when it was stolen out of the truck and he realized SK wasn't home yet - could he have thought maybe it was someone she knew and that she needed money for whatever reason and knew he kept it in his truck.
Not saying SK took the card but maybe Duane thought initially it could have been her? Then he wanted to track the card and see if she used it and where?

I think the only problem with these type of scenarios is that it seems that none of the people close to SK seem to have any money.

Are you sure? This article says his house was searched the evening after he was arrested earlier that day (Tuesday March 13):

http://www.ktva.com/home/top-stories/Arrest-Made-in-Koenig-Abduction-142864535.html

Same here:

http://www.ktva.com/home/outbound-xml-feeds/Major-Crime-Scene-Vehicle-Investigates-142584066.html

From what I see it seems like he was arrested that morning/noon in TX and his house was searched later that day in AK.

Sorry that I'm kind of late responding to this post just now, but I'm just trying to catch up and this is as far as I've made it so far. I know that maybe this idea has already been addressed in the next few pages if so then nevermind and carry on...but if not...I was thinking that it's possible that IK was actually the guy in the truck that was said to be approximately 50ft away from the coffee shop around the time that she was taken but reportedly didn't see a thing? Maybe LE weren't buying that from the start and that is why he/his house in AK was being surveilled before the stolen card was used. If so, that would put IK at the scene at the time of the abduction.

I don't have a link for the any of the original reports on this but it was a detail released by LE within the first few days of the investigation and seemed to be nothing so it was quickly dropped from most discussions.

Just because someone calls and tells the police my card was stolen does not mean they gotta call the bank and tell them does it? I don't think so

Why put himself there, though, if he did not have to?

I sure IK would want to be looked at as a victim not a suspect. All the dwayne and stuff is more far fetch of going to their house stealing a card just happen to know the pin or get it be seen at the exact time out the window. Then making a false statement to not be looked at

Nope. You would have to call the bank.

I get what you are saying but how is it a crime if he is using his own card? And why would he disguise himself.
He could say yes I told the police it was stolen but I found it, thanks for following up.
Police would still have the description of the masked guys .....

I did the bold bits :)

That is totally possible BUT police spoke to him right? and they would have seen the video by then (they watched it Friday)

I must have missed the bit that the house was being watched before the card was used. I thought it was being watched before IK was arrested. They were waiting to issue a search warrant. Or am I as screwed up as this whole case now? lol

Anyone else find it odd that JK will not be in the court room?

  • #317
@GutFeeling just read that, again, weird! I wonder what the "serious consequences" he was referring to? By the police or other means....always interesting.............

Is it correct that in the first two ATM withdrawals that occurred after the debit card was stolen(2/2/12) that the person withdrawing the funds DID NOT wear a disguise? This would have been the two transactions on 2-28 and on 2-29 in ALASKA totaling $1000.. if this is true does anyone have any ideas on how or why that occurred that fits with any of the present theories?

The affidavit doesn't say whether he was disguised on 2/28 or 2/29. The first mention of the disguise is in the 3/7 ATM withdrawal in Arizona. This likely means he was not disguised for the first two withdrawals.

So something happened after 2/29 that led him to believe the cops might be on to him? He left the state and suddenly took up a disguise. But the weird thing is that he kept using the ATM card. If he had reason to believe the police were tracking it then why would he keep using it at all? It doesn't make any sense.

It reeks of desperation--that he was so desperate to get this money that he was willing to take an almost intolerable risk of getting caught. But why so desperate?

Gut, are you referring to the comments JK made on Facebook? https://www.facebook.com/FindSamanthaKoenig

I'm not sure. He definitely seems like he could be unhinged, maybe LE actually talked some sense into him and requested he not attend? I can see both sides of it but I know if someone I loved was missing and the suspect/POI/whatever was in court, there is no way you could keep me from going.

This is the first case I have followed this closely which is what brought me to this board. You seem to have a lot of experience with these type of cases, do you think it's odd?

I think Person A knows Keyes quite well. And only reported his card stolen when asked by LE why Keyes was using his card.

Still don't know how Samantha ties in.

This is the most likely scenario by far.

One other possibility: could the cops have had the card re-activated? The person originally reported it stolen and had it canceled, only then the cops found some kind of connection and asked the bank to reactivate it? Seems kind of far-fetched and I'm not even sure it's possible.
