Everything you wrote is true, however it's less about the weight than it is about pictures they're posting. She clearly looks significantly different with a 20 pound weight fluctuation, which is, I think, the point of what we're saying....tell us who we're looking for! People's faces change with more or less weight, you can't just go by face alone. If I was actively searching for Sam on a street (unlikely since I live in California, but still!) and all I had were the perfectly posed, taken at an angle above the head pictures that they keep posting, I would walk RIGHT BY the girl in the Santa hat without even glancing her way. There was a picture of her and her father where she was also heavier and looked VERY different than the pictures they have plastered on her posters.
Sam is beautiful in all of pictures, but give us the ones that best show how she looked the day she went missing. It's not a snarky commentary on a young woman's weight (trust me, I would/could *never* do that), it's about needing an accurate way to identify her should someone (who does not know her in person) see her on the street.
Thank you and I agree. But there may not be any pictures of her in the few days before she went missing. I would also like to know why her weight would fluctuate 20 lbs. or so in such a short time. Do we know that for a fact or is it speculation? I'm not good at guessing weight but I can't see such a big difference in weight in those 2 pics... 10 lbs, maybe, but certainly not 20.
Sadly, there is not always an 'accurate' way to identify a missing person once they go missing. Going by pictures, what one person sees, the next person will disagree with. This has happened in a lot of missing cases... someone is spotted at Wal Mart, someone snaps a picture and half swear up and down it's the same person, and the other half swears it's not even close.
Statistically, it's all going to hinge on a lucky break, IF she's still alive. And if someone is holding her captive somewhere, she's not going to be running around in public, unless someone took steps to disguise her or drastically change her appearance. Someone recognized Elizabeth Smart and she was wearing a loose garment with a hood... nothing showing but her face, and almost a year older, AND denied who she was.
