SEARCH OF HOUSE
Just after Keyes was arrested, police served a search warrant at a house in Anchorage's Turnagain neighborhood. Markiewicz said Keyes resides at the house on Spurr Lane, a narrow dead-end street off of Clay Products Drive.

Next-door neighbors Michele Buwalda and Tom McMillan said Keyes lives there with a woman named Kimberly Anderson, who is also listed as the owner of the house in city property records. A daughter they estimated was 12 or 13 lives with the couple at least some of the time, they said.

Markiewicz said Anderson is not a suspect or person of interest in the case.

Since Keyes and Anderson moved in a few years ago, the couple made many improvements to what is one of the more modest homes on the street, Buwalda and McMillan said. Keyes and Anderson were quiet and polite. They threw a couple of small parties each year, the neighbors said.

"I would be pretty surprised if he's involved with it," McMillan said.

Keyes spent a lot of time running saws and other equipment in the yard for his construction business, occasionally running afoul of neighbors because of late evening noise, they said.

Neighbors said that they noticed an unmarked police car idling for hours on Monday at an intersection a block away.
Tuesday morning police arrived in unmarked cars, neighbors said. Wearing SWAT gear and carrying rifles, they swarmed the blue house. They took pictures and seemed to be collecting evidence. Later on that day, police followed Anderson's car as she pulled into the driveway, neighbors said. She left with them. Her car and Keyes' truck were towed. She returned the next day by cab. A crime scene van stayed parked outside the house until late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, neighbors said.

Late Thursday afternoon, after Keyes' arrest was announced, a truck pulled up to the blue house, where a trailer with Keyes' business name on it was parked in the driveway. Two women got out. One of the women covered her head with a jacket to shield her face.

So they were already watching his home on Monday, yet he was pulled over on Tuesday?

Early on it was reported that Sam left a note the night she was kidnapped for the morning shift asking if she had to work Saturday. She was abducted on a Wednesday, so it seems like she maybe only workd a couple of shifts a week, and asking about working Saturday implies she didn't have a regular schedule, and that they didn't post one in the hut.

See, that's going to make it a lot harder for a random stalker-abduction I would think. No regular hours, not knowing when she is there and when she isn't. What time her ride is coming, etc. You'd have to be scoping her out for some time in order to find the right moment to move in or have some sheer luck. Both of which are possible, but make the random-stalker possibility a little less likely IMO.

I think I remember early on a report that there was a pick up in the parking lot with a man in it that didn't seem to notice the abduction? Does anyone remember or have a link to that? Wonder what color the pick up was?

It still seems MUCH more likely to me that someone knew boyfriend was running late that night and took advantage of the opportunity. Not to say IK wasn't involved with that (he could have gotten the knowledge second hand), but I still think there is more then one involved here.

If IK was pulled over and arrested on an outstanding federal warrant on Tuesday it would seem that they may have been onto him Monday or even earlier than that.

I sure wish we knew a little more about this guy and what the heck is going on...

I still cannot believe how long it took for the news to catch up with the Tuesday arrest!

This makes me think that there are more "players." I wonder if word got out on the street that LE had their eyes set on IK.

I am the worst with links, but the police themselves said they had been there for several days I believe. So they were watching him. I just don't understand if they thought he could have Sam why not get in there ASAP?

Wouldn't the worry be if he DID have her that he would notice the sudden police presence and harm her before they arrested him?

Or did they somehow know that Sam was not in TX at all ? :waitasec::waitasec:

Agreed. I have always been, and still am bothered by the fact that her bf happened to be late THAT night. Either someone was watching him, someone deliberately held him up, or he deliberately picked her up late for some reason.

Have we ever found out why he was 'late?' Was it something beyond his control or was he just running late himself I wonder.

Ah. I hadn't thought of that. Perhaps they were hoping that IK lead them to others that could be involved. Not that they were hoping that he would lead them to Sam.

That still would have us assuming that LE knew Sam wasn't in TX, though. Maybe because IK flew to TX alone? But that's not to say someone else didn't fly to TX with Sam ?

When I take everything I've read and try to draw a connecting line, I come to two theories.

Either CB wanted to get rid of her before court and thought this might get him some publicity...

Or IK was a customer who liked her and thought there was more to the relationship. Two coffees made and not releasing the tape seem to me that it may have started as her participating and then it getting out of control. That comment on ADN really stood out to me. I can't imagine its a coincidence.

I just really hope she's OK.

they were in texas for several days before the tuesday arrest...

the home search on tuesday night and the LE car parked near it on Monday was in Alaska..

LE also stated (I linked an article up stream) that they were aware of when IK left for Texas

(sounds to me like they have had their eye on him :moo: )

Could it be that LE matched this guy up to a stolen credit card being used at the coffee shop prior to the abduction?

For example - maybe he used a CC with the name John Smith on it earlier that morning - talked with her - knew when she'd be getting off --- came back and abducted her. LE go through the days sales - see this purchase using a stolen CC - and are able to make connections with the images of him going in then - to the images of when she was being taken? (Like shoes or something?)

She had already not shown up to court on the charges against CB and they were dropped. Maybe I missed it ... were they reopened ?

There are too many possibilities and variables IMO for this to have been an infatuation abduction by some random guy. It just doesn't add up.

I can't shake the feeling that LE is saying IK is the person of "main interest" because they have something on him. The credit card use. They don't have any other possible leads so that would make him the "main interest" right now in the case. It doesn't mean he really is the main person and IMO it seems to indicate he probably ISN'T the person that actually took Sam.

I wonder why IK chose Texas. Does he have family/friends/connections there? Why not Washington?

Police stated that the surveillance video had no bearing at all in the arrest of IK.

The other thing that makes that seem unlikely is people who are involved in identity theft and using others cards KNOW very well how they are traced and how to circumvent that. Which would include NOT using the card of the person you just kidnapped.

The girlfriend? It hasn't been said if they were dating prior to his coming to TX or not ? I'm guessing that TX has a better construction business right now then Washington or Anchorage. A lot of construction workers (especially those in home construction / remodeling / general contractors / etc.) have moved around a lot recently with the economy. A lot of guys from my area have headed down to FL, New Orleans, Texas, etc. because there is a lot more work down there with the hurricane activity.

per his *resume'* he was stationed at Fort Hood (that is three hours or so west of Lufkin, however)

I wasn't saying he used HER card - but possible a different card stolen from a different person.

It was just a thought. :)

Sorry, I was just saying if he was someone who made habit of using fraudulant credit cards, he'd most likely know NOT to use the card of someone he kidnapped because those people go through great lengths to avoid detection and they know the loop holes / etc. I still think using SK's card is how they located this guy. :)

I posted the criminal complaint a few pages back...it very specifically cites that the incidents he is being charged with took place Feb 28-March 13).
