I also think its unlikey he drove to TX, the Alcan is not a fun drive especially with all the snow we've gotten this year, gas is super expensive, especially when you get on the highway and you're in the remote areas, and he'd have to get through the border into Canada then back through to the US ( you do need a passport card to get through the border) . I don't see any benefit for him to drive, it would be faster, cheaper , and I don't think any less conspicuous, for him to fly. I can't imagine how her family feels, its driving me nuts not knowing!!

Is it possible he FOUND her cc? Or maybe it was her check book for all we know..Could be the REAL perp got rid of them..Unless there's actual evidence of him being with SK it's not an unlikely scenario.

And WHO would he retaliate against? I'm stumped on that one big time.

Or maybe it means retaliation against IK? To keep him quiet?

Agreed. I have always been, and still am bothered by the fact that her bf happened to be late THAT night. Either someone was watching him, someone deliberately held him up, or he deliberately picked her up late for some reason.

It could be a coincidence. Or maybe he was frequently late. But still, it is a bothersome fact. To me it indicates that someone was tailing him as well but there could be other explanations.

OTOH, those comments on the KTVA website, if they really were from the same "Israel", lead me to believe it was a personal crime and that he acted alone.

So confusing!

Not necessarily. That's exactly how a lot of criminals are caught, they do something stupid and get stopped on a minor traffic violation. Once LE runs the plates and the info from their DL, that gives them probable cause to search the vehicle and Bingo!
This same article says that investigators from Anchorage have been in TX for several days.... so my guess is that they followed a trail, had him in their sights, and just waited for a good enough reason to detain him.
Pretty good police work involving multiple agencies and jurisdictions. I think they should be congratulated, and just hope that this leads them to Samantha.

You may have missed my previous posts, I said the same thing. I have seen huge drug busts on I35 down here stemming from a tail light out or something else just as silly lol

Texas Police I have the utmost respect for, not the same for Anchorage. They have made some terrible decisions. The PIO talks in circles, (that said I assume he joined the police department to be a cop not a media liason officer) They have an obligation to inform people not to decide what should and should not be said at certain stages of an investigation. APD has given out information which turns out to be completely false.

Just bring Sam home

I think there are more people involved than just IK. CB may have been a connecting social factor. Of course, with no more facts available, this is all just supposition on my part.

MOO..

ETA: The reason I feel there are more people involved is: The staking out of IK's and KA's neighborhood on Monday night and the lady who came to the house with her face shielded that was not, more than likely, KA.

I wouldn't read too far into the second lady coming back to the house with KA. Maybe she's a friend/family member who wanted to help KA but didn't want her picture and identity plastered all over the news?

I wish we knew if he made those comments. If so, it could refer to either himself or acting on the part of CB.

That's what I thought...friend or sister maybe that doesn't want to be all over the news.

Can we clear up this issue of whether there are multiple indictments/complaints against him and what has been sealed?

It was my impression that the criminal complaint against him is for access fraud, and that what is sealed is the accompanying affidavit setting forth the factual basis for the complaint.

I am not sure there is actually a separate sealed indictment/complaint.

If you check out facebook and put the guy's name in search it comes up as Reyes.

Who? ahhh. Trying to figure this out. Who is using Reyes?

there are several links that discuss one being sealed and one being filed in court (the one that reporters got a hold of)

here was the first one I found last night... the others are linked to in this thread upstream:

Court documents filed in the Eastern Texas District Court said that Keyes had been charged with access device fraud, a charge commonly used when someone uses a debit or credit card without the card owner's consent. Also listed in the docket was a criminal complaint based out of Alaska.

Do IK and CB know each other? and why do people think CB has anything to do with this???

Just because Sam had a RO against this guy, does not mean he had anything to do with this.

Hey,
I cant answer that fully, I am sorry. There are of course what you said for access fraud. I do know he was arrested as well based on evidence he had in his car that tied him to Sam. Also I am not sure what was all found in his house/vehicles but there may have been more evidence in those too.

So I figure there is only 3 motives that are possible here:
1) jealousy/stalker
2) money?? Unlikely
3) hired out by someone

I really don't see how stealing her credit card (if he did) would be worth an abduction. It is pretty easy to steal a credit card number if you put forth a little effort.

And yes, clerks hardly check names, although it is still risky. I could see using the card at self service gas stations since no one checks. In OR, you aren't allowed to pump own gas and occasionally I have them look at my card so that would be more risky to use a stolen CC.

And I think he would be too smart to use it after the first day or so of her being missing. So I think it is highly likely he got caught for using someone else's card.

Is it still illegal to use someone else's card even if you have their permission? For example: he had his girlfriend's card and had been using it? That would make sense. If you had committed a crime you try to keep your nose clean and keep under the radar. You don't speed- you don't use a cc from a woman that everyone is looking for.

But a lot of people use other's ( like a spouse or parent's) credit cards with permission and most clerks wouldn't do anything and cardholder isn't going to turn you in so no one would be the wiser...unless cops are stalking you, trying to catch you on something that would keep you in custody for awhile....

So maybe he had his gf credit card, was using it thinking he was going to keep under the radar not realizing that it is a crime to use another's card, even with their permission and it gave the cops the perfect excuse to nab him?

This could be a good theory, but then how did they "find" him and link him to SK's disappearance?

IMO, CB will turn out to be uninvolved. I think he was easy to look at b/c of the RO, but that's all it ever was...a petition for an RO that Sam filed and then never followed through with, for whatever reason. Criminal charges were never filed against him for an assault. Then the public perception and back and forth between he and JK kept him in the spotlight, but I'll be surprised at this point if he is involved, jmo......

Israel Keyes is being charged in federal court with access device fraud, which is described as "knowingly and with intent to defraud effects transactions with an access device issued to another person to receive payment and a thing of value during any one-year period the aggregate value of which is equal or greater than $1,000."

Facts for the complaint have been sealed, as well as Keyes' initial hearing in federal court.

Prosecutors have filed a motion for detention, citing risk of flight and retaliation as reasons he should not be released on bond.

Retaliation against who?

Good catch. Retaliation from him against someone else or retaliation against him (as in for his own protection?). There is WAY more to this... too many things point to it NOT being a case of infatuation gone awry.
