I lean towards this one being real. Shes an attractive woman. I'm sure she gets all kinds of unwanted attention from men
She was probably looking at him off and on for 10 min and he was thinking- Hey, this girl is into me!

Did she rent the room herself at Red Roof?
Her mother said after the call/text from the Carlee saying she was there ( that they later stated was a hoax)they drove down there and knocked on doors etc, and the clerk said nobody was registered under her name

What's the threshold for felony theft? I hope she reached it.

I think $500. So...if that was a super nice robe and there are other things not mentioned she may be over the line.

With the cash she helped herself to from her (now) former workplace?
My guess is, the wad of bills in her sock was what was left, of what she took.

Do you think that she was able to get the money from her employer's cash register? They would know if they were short the cash.

I want to know how Carlee thought that it would be believable that she was able to get away from her kidnappers clear on the other side of town. Yet, she doesn't run to the nearest home to call her parents for help (or the police) but instead "walks" all the way home? That would have taken her hours. What kind of shoes was she wearing for this long journey? Did she have blisters on her feet?

I'm disgusted she used a "toddler" as part of her story. It really bothers me.

Ya know what's sad?!
Crying wolf.

Because using children as bait is a real thing and has happened in the past. It will happened again.

By crying wolf she just put others at risk....

There was in fact one toddler on the side of the road.

Time now for her to grow up.

I guess my question here is, why was she so desperate to disappear? And if she really was, why make up a lost kid on the side of the road and call 911? Why not just disappear without raising any alarm? Something isn't right with her, that's for sure.

It has the damsel in distress vibe, imo. She realized she wouldn't get an amber alert she had to create a character who would. I think she was testing her man, but that's just a guess on my part.

Omg how are you finding these so quickly lol?
CR's Twitter was identified very early here. I think the difference is today's information released during the Hoover PD press conference makes it clear police are not looking for an orange-haired suspect and the public is not in danger. In other words, CR is not a victim of being abducted and held against her will.

I did believe Carlee was missing at first, and felt worried for her and her family.

But very quickly, things did not add up. Then the traffic cam came out and it didn’t make sense with her story.

A badly crafted narrative has fallen apart in the face of the facts.

I feel for her parents. Imo it’s entirely possible that they completely believed her.

My own child lied about some things as an adult, and I believed her because she was my child and it didn’t occur to me that she was lying, for her own reasons.

That is a very, very difficult thing to endure. I had to face facts when they became glaring and I imagine her parents are in the same situation now. However, since they are in the public eye, (something which I suspect Carlee did not intend), they may well choose to avoid answering or choose to say they still believe her.

I do think that she stole and filed a false report, so maybe the law will come for her.

IMO the google searches that LE won’t reveal, out of respect for Carlee’s privacy, are the answer to the “why“ of it all.

ETA: thanks, @CamilleBSP, I edited to fix.
A very accurate and well thought reply. Thank you for saying this

I wouldn't expect her to be registered under her name, especially, if she were a "kidnap" victim.

I myself would have asked to speak to the manager and explained that my daughter had been kidnapped and that I received a call saying that she was being held in a room there and asked to see the video. I would think that they would be able to pull up the lobby video in real time. I know that I can do that on our surveillance video.

If they didn't cooperate, I would have called 911 to get the police there.

It seems like generating a degree of notoriety might have been part of the plan given the interest in Amber Alerts.
The biggest question here IMO is..

Why a bathrobe???

Dark bathrobe on a dark road into dark woods. Camouflage.

Ok I'm caught up. I was on a flight, itching to know.

Holy Cow !!! No words.
How the heck did she get an MA in psychology ? The stupidity is mind boggling.
Really, a toddler alien child who can run faster than Usain Bolt ??
The google searches?

I feel so bad for her parents. And Carlee comes from a good home, lovely home....lots of support and future opportunity.
wth?

I gave her the benefit of the doubt.
Never believed the child story nor the abduction.

But I was leaning to a sudden onset of something organic or psychiatric.....like what happened to my friend those years ago.

I'm so angry......
All the resources.
And deceiving her parents.

Do Red Roof Inns ask for ID? I have not stayed in one in probably over 20 years. Other hotels I've stayed in have asked for ID, in addition to credit card, of course.

This sort of reminds me of Casey Anthony too. Because I had a brother with these same “character traits”, it would not surprise me if Carlee came up with more ridiculous lies about the reason why she told this story. It will be along the lines of “I am protecting my family and LE misconstrued my statements and everything I said was the truth, no one is listening to the meaning behind my words.” Then her poor parents will believe her and blame everyone else and pretend that everything is ok. If she is anything like my brother or Casey, her parents are doomed.

I cannot tell you how many times that I wished that I had toilet paper for my emergencies in the woods. Leaves do not make good toilet paper...So, that was good planning on her part...

Did she buy a drink besides snacks? It is very hot in Alabama during the summer months!

*So, we have ourselves a thieving thief and a lying liar who lies…

She then said the man put her in an 18 wheeler and his unknown female partner fed her cheese crackers.

'She said a man came out of the trees and mumbled that he was checking on the baby, then picked her up and took her over a fence and into a car.

'She says they blindfolded her but didn't tie her up because they didn't want to leave compression marks,' Chief Derzis said.

*my favorite part:
Russell told police the next day she woke up and the woman fed her cheese crackers and played with her hair. bbm

Red Roof Inn requires a credit/debit card to check in, but you can use cash to check out. If she was there, someone had to use their card to get a room.
