Good question.
I think it was because she was leaving the orange Edge getaway car in that shopping center.

EBM. Duh I read OP question wrong lol. I agree calling an Uber better choice.

In the 7 minute audio, I believe the one who went in the car window said the exit wound was in the top of her head which to me indicates the entry wound was under the chin. I could be wrong and if so, my apologies.:(
*Graphic warning*

You never really know with these things. We assume someone will go to the temple or chin. Considering exit wound on top of her head, one would think chin. But it depends on the angle and caliber. My friend blew off most of the left portion of his forehead and top of front of head. He shot himself on the right side, near the nape of the neck. Vicky was a vain woman (hair bleach, tanning), which is why I'd think she likely went for her temple or further back. Maybe she angled upwards to spare her face? Or maybe in to her mouth?

I don’t understand why I feel so, so, extremely sad over Vicky, as if I knew her. Strange.:(
I think its a strong feeling of regret and betrayal. Such a waste of what appeared to be a fine, compassionate woman.

Yes, thanks—that’s a good way of expressing it.

That was actually the Indianapolis affiliate of Fox. Not the national Fox channel. ;)
One report I watched today said it was next to an airport landing strip, so cornfield could be likely close by,

I still don’t get how the US Marshals connected the car wash abandoned car to CW and VW. Or how they assured the car wash manager that the fugitives had not taken off, but were in the area, allowing them to wait days to arrive. Or why CW thought abandoning the truck at a car wash was the thing to do?????
I definitely don't know why they thought leaving the truck there was a good idea!

But to your earlier questions: IMO LE only connected the truck at the car wash to CW/VW because the manager had seen CW on the news (hmm I just posted upthread that they weren't much on the news at that time, guess I was wrong), recognized CW by his tattoos. He is the one who told LE about them abandoning the truck and driving off in a Cadillac.

(although now we read that LE back home in Alabama were interviewing the neighbors near where the Edge was left, and they found the guy who sold them the truck, so they would have been looking for the truck pretty soon if not already)

Car wash mgr saw CW/VW drive off in Cadillac, told LE about it, but I suppose neither of them knew if the fugitives had stayed in the area or not.

Car wash mgr said LE didn't show interest in his report at first but then Marshalls called him back a few days later (IMO IIRC). I don't understand this delay either.

If CW/VW had left town in the Cadillac right after, instead of staying, Evansville LE probably wouldn't have found them. But eventually someone else would have. MOO

Thanks.
I just think CW should have known leaving the car at a car wash would draw attention to it. The car wash manager must be a true crime buff, he was too in the know about the case…,

Anyone know what side of the car Casey exited from, and which side Vicky was pulled from? I haven’t looked closely at the car yet.
I"m catching up so this may have already been answered but I think the sunroof. IMO

Why didn't Vicky just call an Uber to go to work instead of calling her co-worker to pick her up claiming she locked her keys in her car???
Whatever happened to that car? At mothers?

I agree with almost everything you wrote above, except for the thought that this might have been the most exciting days of her existence. I doubt that is the case, IMO, but I do think that these days were very important to her, and perhaps to both of them. For better or worse, it is now apart of her life story, but not necessarily the defining one in everyone's eyes. It will be up to each of her loved ones and friends and colleagues to assess that and make their own decisions. Of course, the general public never will, but ultimately they don't matter with regard to this issue, now that the public safety issue is resolved.

Good post. I fully agree. We the spectators don't need every answer. Her family and friends are the ones left to grieve and they should be given that respect to do so free from judgement of Vicky. May she rest in peace now.

I hear you. It is very sad. She seems to have lived her life well until she got involved with this jerk. She was almost 60, divorced, and her coworkers said the job was her life. Likely. these were the men she was around and this younger guy paid attention to her and painted a fantasy picture for her that she sacrificed everything for. That is very sad. He called her his wife but really seemed to show not grief over her death.

IMO, a truck with the keys in the ignition, parked overnight in a carwash stall in a small town practically screams "abandoned" and/or "please steal me." I'm sure the White's probably thought that the seller was suspicious and likely recognized them by now, and would rather the truck be further away than 1/4 mile of their hotel. Besides, they had a new form of transportation at this time.

That was the Edge that they left with the day of the escape. Her friend must not have seen the car because Vicky could have been waiting somewhere away from the Edge. I have not heard anything about her normal vehicle. Nothing about that being left in the lot.

What could drive Vicky White to help Casey White escape and go on the run?

That's not actually how the car wash thing happened:

"The manager of the car wash first noticed the abandoned pickup truck on May 3 and realized something was amiss when it was still there the next morning. He called the police, and an officer came out, ran the license plates, took a report and left. The car wasn't stolen and to the local police, there was nothing they could do.

A break came Sunday because the officer had written the VIN in a report. Keely's team spotted it as they checked databases. The fugitive team descended on Evansville, working with fellow deputy marshals in Indiana.

Surveillance video from the car wash showed the Cadillac. Task force investigators began driving around checking out motels and restaurant parking lots, Keely said."

She was married a second time and divorced. However she remained friends with him and took care of him before he died. That was in January, I believe, of this year. A short time to grieve...not enough time.

What could drive Vicky White to help Casey White escape and go on the run?
Been asked and answered many times here by excellent & thoughtful sleuthers. So many theories and great speculation, insights & discussion.

Feel free to peruse all the threads linked below if you haven't already. Then share your theories/thoughts.

LAUDERDALE Co., Ala. (WAFF) - An employee of the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office and an inmate at the Lauderdale County Detention Center are missing.

According to the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, Assistant Director of Corrections, Vicki White, and inmate Casey Cole White are missing after Vicki White left with Casey White at 9:30 a.m. on Friday. Vicki White was taking Casey White to court.

The two are not related.

Casey White was being held on capital murder charges.

The vehicle that the two left in was found at a shopping center located at Highway 72 and Cox Creek Parkway in Lauderdale County. It wasn’t realized until 3:30 p.m. Friday that the two were unaccounted for.

In October 2020, Casey White appeared in court asking to be held Lauderdale County Jail. According to authorities, he was plotting to escape Lauderdale County Jail.

If you see either of these individuals, call 911.
