I wasn't considering it until Otto's last posts but do you think she was killed at the Shell station? I had been under the impression that if she was undoubtedly harmed it would appear somehow on the video but maybe it was too dark so you wouldn't be able to see people?
I doubt this, but she could have been incapacitated. If the goal was the car, I doubt she was killed in it.
I still have a big question about why Car 3 disabled her GPS? How did they know about it? They weren't carjackers because carjackers don't complicate their lives with random abduction and/or murder.
RSBM
There are a lot of assumptions here, otto. We don't know Car 3 did it. If this was a theft, the perp will not only immediately disable any tracking device (they know a lot about the makes/models they steal) but may not have any qualms about pistol-whipping, raping, selling or otherwise eliminating the driver. Consider the kind of individual who is in a gang, has probably served time and may also have a drug habit. It is possible Danni has just been abducted, or is being trafficked, or died by accident when they stuck her in the trunk or hit her over the head etc.
Is that car a popular model for car thieves?
According to Carfax, Chevy Cruze are in the top 10 most stolen car in America, IMO because they are similar to a Honda Civic, which is the most stolen car. Hers happened to be a unique color with paper plates making it a prime mark. I thought at the beginning of this case that she was obviously carjacked, but am not of the opinion the car was the goal at this point.
Originally statements were made that she was seen later on surveillance in a more "populated place" but that was all LE said.
I've seen this too and it is the main reason I don't think she was carjacked or that the car was what anyone was after necessarily.
Maybe the fact that she just got a new car made somebody nervous. She has no real ties to AL, friends or family, only has cash, she could hypothetically take her daughter and go out of state. I can see her being hormonal, possibly still dealing with the trauma of giving up a second baby, and maybe mentioning the wrong thing to the wrong person.
Not saying that's what she planned, but it's enough that somebody might have thought that and acted out of desperation.
I am hoping
@cedgison can get this confirmed for us, but I don't think the baby was that immediately recent (it was like 6 months ago). You have a very good point in general about someone getting nervous. Danni did have a car previously, though.
She would had a car prior to this one. A good deal of cash came from an insurance claim? Was she involved in a car accident serious enough to get money? Was her car totaled?
She wasn’t living with JDT, wasn’t in a relationship with TT and living alone while pregnant which she just gave up for adoption. She is doing it alone and supporting herself. That’s a lot for anyone.
Someone stated earlier that someone else totaled her previous Chevy Cruze, and this was the replacement. It is a plausible assumption that some of the cash used to pay for it was a settlement/payout. It looks like our VI is getting that clarified for us.
The VI couldn’t elaborate on why the whole roofie scenario is a possibility. I realize there isn’t much that we know that would indicate that happening but just to give it some thought...
I’m not sure how long before RC and MK left before DNV and DW so perhaps something was placed into her drink after they left. Dublin’s has a patio that leads right out to the parking lot, you actually have to walk through the patio in order to go inside. So if they were sitting out on the patio there would be a lot less opportunity for people to notice if she was behaving odd.
Let’s say the phone was intentionally left behind so that Dublin’s would be the last ping.
This theory would have to include a third person... maybe driving DNVs car. Once on the interstate the person driving DNVs car realizes that the car has OnStar or whatever onboard gps and flashes the lights to pull over. Car 1 and car 2 pull in the shell and discuss the gps in the car. Car 1 leaves to get the phone. But turns around and comes back because they thought of something else or car 2 calls them to come back. They stay there and disable the gps and discuss the new plan to give reason why the phone was at Dublin’s and the GPS was going in the opposite direction. And to create some alibis...
This doesn’t really make as much sense though as the idea that DNVs recent accomplishments were a threat to someone. Also just a thought... jail is a pretty rock solid alibi... and would definitely make it appear that you had nothing to do with anything.
All simply just a theory based on what we do know, it could be just as far from what actually happened as teleportation.
Danni being put into the trunk of one of the cars or getting in the passenger seat with a different driver at Ollie's is the only way a rufie scenario works. There is simply no rationale as to why a predator would allow her to drive knowing he just slipped her a drug that can incapacitate in as little as 10 minutes. This is still very possible considering some of the ways LE has described the scene at the Shell and speculation that she was not alone in the car (though I've also seen it said both she and DW were driving their respective vehicles, we have no evidence as to how that is known = if the video is the same quality as the still we have, there is no way they could determine that unless they saw people getting in and out)
This is an interesting choice of words. To me there is a big difference in occupying and driving and if they know she was in the car, they know if she was driving or not. MOO
I agree, occupying sounds like she was in the passenger seat or the trunk and they know it. *speculation*
We also have the issue that she called into work to cancel for Tuesday. We haven't debated why this might have been done. Did she not feel well? Did she just want to go get her new car and drive around town? We know she didn't spend the day with her daughter so far as we know? Was she out with friends earlier in the day on Tuesday? Did she need the day to plan things to get out of Mobile?
She was supposed to work at Ollies that Tuesday night she disappeared and took that night off to celebrate her new car with the friends she was with.
Generally speaking, aren’t people usually roofied by people they don’t know?
Not at all. In my case, it was an ex. In the case of girls I've worked with, some were drugged by family members, boyfriends, acquaintences and strangers alike. When the goal is sexual and rufies are used, it is almost always someone you're acquainted with who is able to gain access to your drink. When the goal is murder, it is also almost always someone that knows the victim. Random killers and psychopaths are the exception, though sadly not all that rare these days.
Two months after
Danniella Vian went missing, the Mobile Police Department has created a blog aimed at helping to find the 24-year-old mother.
The MPD is asking people to post what they know about her disappearance. The link to the blog is
mobilepd.org/finddanniella.
Wow this couldn't be more useless. It has no helpful info beyond what was originally released and no way to comment or submit info directly. I think we are all in agreement here that Danni needs a public Facebook page where info can be released on her case where acceptable, questions can be asked, tips gathered or sleuthed (you'd be amazed what people are willing to say in a FB comment but not call in to LE), searches or other efforts organized, the gofundme promoted and most importantly, Danni's life celebrated so people can feel invested in her. The closed group is great for the family to work on the case internally, of course, but at some point everyone is gonna have to accept that people who talk will do it on a public post, they won't join a group to do it.
