AL AL - Kahleb Rowan Collins, 1, his dad & sis were killed in a car crash, he wasn't with them, Fayette County, 8 Dec 2024

LE stated there were no skid marks on the road where the accident happened. I wonder if this was intentional or maybe a medical emergency or something? IMO
One of the news articles linked further up the thread mentioned that it was or had been raining so it's possible that there would have been no skid marks on a wet road surface. Also, given the vehicle's estimated speed at the time of the accident, the driver would not have had time to think of braking, let alone applying them.

Given that there's a missing child, the aggressive driving, and that none of them had seatbelts on, i think it's clear that this was a family anilihation by the father. I would place a bet that he murdered the missing child too. Jmo moo

Collins says he had not spoken to his brother Steven recently, and only just discovered Sunday that his nephew was missing.

“The whole family...we just don’t know. Just please let us know where he’s at and bring him back to the family.”

Since Dad and the toddler were unrestrained, per the article above, I wonder if little Kayleb was also unrestrained and was expelled from the vehicle into the woods.
I think this is far and away the most likely answer. The first responders on scene had no idea they needed to locate a small, unrestrained child. He likely was not conscious or they would have heard crying.

ETA: Now after reading the whole thread, I’ve changed my opinion. If Dad was making excuses for Kahleb’s absence, the car accident becomes a possible coverup.

Wouldn't the only way for a 1 year old to be unrestrained in a car, to be being held by someone? Likely Mom in this case.
Had there been a legal car seat for his safety, first responders would have known right away to look for him.
At first I thought he was thrown from the vehicle. But reading new reports, I don't think he was in the vehicle.

***MISSING CHILD ALERT*** WINFIELD, ALThe Fayette County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance in locating 1-year-old Kahleb Rowan Collins. Kahleb was last seen in Winfield, Alabama on September 4, 2024. The Fayette County Sheriff's Office originally stated that he was reported missing on Dec. 9, one day after a deadly crash. Kahleb's sister, a 2-year-old named Ryleigh Collins, and father, Steven Collins, 40, died in the crash. Kahleb's mother, Wendy Bailey, was also in the vehicle. She remains in critical condition. The sheriff's office said law enforcement was told a day later that the man and woman in the crash "had another child" who was unaccounted for. On Dec. 11, John Elton Bailey, Kahleb's custodian, was taken into custody for failing to report a missing child. If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of Kahleb Collins, please contact the Fayette County Sheriff's Office at (205) 932-3205 or call 911.

The complaint reads in part "by delaying to make, or failing to cause to be made the report with willful and reckless disregard for the safety of the child and the child suffered serious bodily harm or death, to-wit; physical injuries to the child, and the child was removed from the home and taken to an unknown location, and no report was made by any resident of the home."

According to an Alabama Uniform Traffic Crash Report, the driver was going an estimated 92 miles per hour in a 45 mph speed limit zone, while it was raining.
..
the driver is believed to have been driving aggressively.

92 mph?!!!!

When you say not accidental, what are you thinking of? Suicide by the father? The vehicle being run off the road by another driver? TBH the most likely explanation to me is that this was a simple accident caused by the father losing control of his vehicle.
I'm thinking he intentionally ran off the road.

If this was a simple accident caused by the father losing control of his vehicle then in the picture below there would be skid marks in the wet grass/mud. Instinct would cause him to break.

They were less than a mile from home, driving 92pmh, with no one (not even the 24 month old) in seat belts.

This looks like a suicide. M00

"Charging documents against Bailey say he committed the alleged crime on Sept. 10 in Fayette County."
Sounds like his "crime" was not reporting abuse/missing or death of the little boy.

My question is WHY did he have guardianship of him? (If that is true).

How sad. Did dad's post about his son's organs growing but not his body (Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome?) have any validity to it? Was this actually a sick child whom the parents became overwhelmed with or just a made-up story in an attempt to excuse this poor child's sudden absence plus perhaps gain some sympathy from others to boot?

I find it really interesting that in the Grandfather's charges there is an exact date (in September) listed for his failure to report the missing child. Wish we knew more details about how that date came about.

It's possible that this was a suicide - on the basis of the information we have that can't be ruled out. However there are factors which make me think otherwise.

1. It was or had been raining and the road surface was wet. The tyres might well not leave skid marks in those circumstances.
2. He was driving at over 90mph. He may well not have had chance to react or time to apply the brakes.
3. At that speed the car might simply have become airborne as it left the road so there would not necessarily be tyre tracks in the mud on the side of the road where the vehicle left the tarmac.

Articles state the child was last seen on Sept 4.

I’m curious what the circumstances were around that day as well. Who reported seeing the child last on that particular day?

Jim Standridge serves as a public defender for the 24th Judicial Circuit Court of Alabama.

Standridge was assigned to the case Tuesday morning.

“We’re here at the scene just trying to get a feel for the accident and what happened,” Standridge said.

As Standridge leads the defense’s own investigation, the FCSO is also questioning possible witnesses, family and friends of the missing child.

Law enforcement agencies went to the Walker County Solid Waste Department on Tuesday looking for answers, according to the director, Rodney Cane. Bailey was employed by the landfill.

at 92 MPH? That is intentional recklessness if not suicidal
