It wasn’t the lead agency that screwed up, it was the sheriff.

He apparently wanted the attention that comes from being the one to break the news.

He’s sure getting attention now...

Yes, I agree, MassGuy. I also think that many, including members of LE, are in "emotional mind" right now where emotions control thinking and behavior. Logical thinking and planning are difficult, facts may be distorted or made larger or more important, thoughts and behaviors might be said to be "hot," and the energy of the behavior tends to match the intensity of the feelings (sorry to being therapy into this).Everybody just wants Cupcake found and safe and I think there was definitely some overreaction and maybe even "me first" that took place. Not good...

Yeah, if we think this is disappointing, just imagine what her family is feeling.

This happened in the Jayme Closs case, when false reports began circulating that she had been found alive.

Amazingly, she was found alive later that same day. Let’s just hope lightning strikes twice.

Same happened in the Myra Lewis case. A sighting came in at a Memphis motel. It turned out to be a father with his young daughter as best I remember. Its been awhile, though, and Myra was not so lucky as to be actually found at a later date.

Might need to check and see how many SUVs that match the Blue Paint with Tan Bumper are located in that area.

It seems probable that it belonged to someone that was visiting an activity at that apartment complex and maybe noticed Cupcake at the “not confirmed” jump house and took her when they realized she was alone.

Yep. I think some are way too quick to want to break the news. Maybe everyone was over eager for her to be found, but either way my guess is that the comments may not have been ones they should have used for confirmation. JMO.

Well, they covered their butt fixing this article. I heard live feed that CBS42 said she was found before they got confirmation from the Sheriff which happened to be wrong as well.

the good news is this was a credible tip to bring out all LE/SWAT etc. Maybe another tip is about to come in that really will lead to her being found - IMO

ETA: what was the source of this tip? I will have to go back and check the tweets/MSM - was it the grandma and a bounty hunter??? I'm hunting now but if anyone has the link - that would be terrific.

I don’t have links handy, but these two have no known connection to her or her family.

There are also apparently no images of Cupcake on PS’ phone. The images must have been of another child or children.

Are we sure Brown has no connection? found this case from earlier this year that covers her being charged for kidnapping her three daughters (one was 2 at the time) from their custodial caregiver. This lady has serious issues. Her children were removed because of an "abusive" situation (wonder if her friend Stallworth is involved in that situation) and I am assuming that case back in January is what her probation that is now revoked was over because of her involvement in THIS incident.

They actually had 3 reporters spaced out around the scene. Their coverage was professional and excellent.

YES, but... LE should have set up a contained press area with a BPD official. They must maintain control of the press. Bad things can happen, press can wonder off, get shot, go visiting, anything.

Not impressed with these folks at BPD. They need to quickly get a handle on this. Hold a presser and apologize for the confusion, even if they feel they aren't to blame. Don't try to blame or give excuses, this opens the door for more criticism. Basic PR 101.

They searched every apartment and every vehicle at the complex...that sure ain't 15 minutes.

You misunderstood what I said. When the police presence showed up, I'm pretty sure most residents had come out to see what was going on and the little girl seen hadn't been hidden from view or knowledge for 4 hours. I mean, if I was the mother of a young child living there, knowing who they were looking for, I'd be standing at my door immediately saying, "My child looks similar, but it's not her."

I seriously doubt someone was just minding their own business, oblivious to this whole search, staying put in their apartment.

I don't know if that's coming across in print like I'm trying to say it

As I watched the live news I thought for sure they found her. I cried when I heard she wasn't. Praying that the next report will be her found safe. I'm so sad right now.
