Wonder if LE found anything else of interest while searching those apartment units ?
Who called in the tip ?
Someone looking for attention, or who had a grudge against a person in the apartment ?
And what was that bit earlier about the bounty hunter ?
I think it was just a false sighting. The community is anxious to find this child. In many missing persons cases there are false sightings. LE has to take each one seriously, especially since this is a young child.
I don't know about the person being a bounty hunter. Maybe he or she was, and just happened to see a little girl who looked like Cupcake.
Or maybe it was just inaccurate reporting. Imo

Is it possible that the child’s whereabouts are known but the child is unsafe and they are squashing all rumors to not jeopardize the safety of Cupcake? My personal speculations only. I don’t know why else a bounty hunter is involved and family members said she was found safe. I am a realist and rarely optimistic about these sorts of cases but I think the child will be found alive. IMO #prayingforCupcake

Well, a bounty hunter might get the reward money? But I dunno. JMO

Reporters should not have been talking to the 11 year old brother and they certainly shouldn’t be using an 11 year old as their “source “. Do we know if there were other family members confirming the now false “found” reports and if there were other family members who they were? I’m wondering who these other family members are if they confirmed it. Was it second cousin Ethel’s mother-in-law’s brother’s son? IYKWIM

Unfortunately, family was part of the problem with the false information. The brother said she was found.

Isn't he only 11 though? My point earlier is that a reporter should not take the word of an 11 year old. Clearly a confusing situation for all these professional adults on the scene, much less a kid. Media has procedure to follow for confirmation and IMO they didn't seem to follow it.

CBS42 is the local junior varsity but the reporter on scene stated he got his info from a contact at the sheriffs department. I’m sure he thought that was a credible source.

'I'm not gonna stop': Why 1 woman refuses to give up search for 3-year-old
Days into the desperate search for an abducted 3-year-old Alabama girl, the head of a local missing persons group is refusing to stop -- because she said she's been in this family's shoes.

[...]

"I'm not gonna stop 'til I find this baby," Jasmaine Deloach, the head of Angel Arms Operation Exploited and Missing Persons in Birmingham, told ABC News on Wednesday. "I know how it feels."

Deloach said she started this organization after her 16-year-old daughter was a victim of human trafficking nearly five years ago. She said her daughter was later found states away. No one was arrested in her daughter's case, which is still under investigation.

[...]

Deloach said she learned from her daughter's case that often when kidnappers see the law enforcement and media presence intensifying, "they panic."

That's why at a Monday night vigil for Kamille, Deloach said she appealed directly with the unknown people who took the little girl, pleading, "She might not even remember who you are, so if you have any heart, please let her go."

[...]

Deloach said she's also talking with those in the community to try to get new information and putting up flyers at local businesses. She said she's hoping store clerks will rewind their surveillance tapes to review them for anything suspicious.

[...]

Deloach said if the kidnapper does not want to call police, he or she can call the Angel Arms Operation missing persons group at 205-585-8076.

Anyone who finds her would, I imagine.
A bounty hunter finds fugitives who haven't shown up for court who have been bonded out. That's what they get paid for. Imo

Absolutely. And I think (and hope) that there is more to this that the public doesn’t know. I think the bounty hunter has inside knowledge or ties to people who do and that is where the addresses of her possible whereabouts are coming from. The whole case is very fishy and I am not making accusations about the family. I don’t think this is random and I think the child will be found alive. IMO

The first time CBS 42 said she was found they said that whole story about talking to the brother and the crowd cheering.

Then they said actually she wasn't found and it was unconfirmed by BPD.

Then they said actually she was found for the second time and the sheriff's department told them that.

They are a mess.

Yes, there was one that stated contact made with the sheriff. But one reporter (same one?) stated that he spoke with the 11 year old. He quoted the child as saying that Cupcake looked sad. That's the one I am referring to.

How terribly, heartbreakingly sad for everybody. Cupcake, her family, just everybody. Devastating.

This got lost in this morning’s chaotic mix. It’s important.

Finally caught up with all the posts. Has the video from the family (I think the grandmother) saying "we know the real reason she was taken, we just can't say" (paraphrase) been discussed?

Regarding the previous reports that Kamille McKinney had been found.

Jefferson County Sheriff Mark Pettway told CBS 42’s Art Franklin in a phone call that he had received misinformation from one of his deputies in the field.

I don't think I've seen that one. Can you link it, please? (If allowed) MOO

I missed that because i was wearing out my remote flipping back and forth between all 4 locals covering it live. I only heard the sherif part on 42.

I wondered something like this as well! Like others mentioned, it's really strange that the FD and EMS didn't come to the scene until everything was almost done. The Grandmother was there almost the entire duration of the search. The police seem firm on there being other POIs.

So, I wondered if they did find her or at least determine her whereabouts but aren't confirming it to keep her safe or if they did find her, to keep an important witness safe from whoever is running this. Maybe they just need to buy some time to catch up to whoever orchestrated this. I know this sounds crazy but my brain just keeps trying to make the pieces come together and still produce a happy ending for Cupcake.

ETA: so sorry it's still my first day but it looks like we are supposed to MOO at the end of our posts. I googled it and I know we aren't mooing (haha I make jokes when i'm flustered) but everything I said is just MOO.
