Alec Baldwin fired prop gun, killing 1 on movie set, Oct 2021 #4

I think that AB wanting a specific gun could be problematic for him. There are facsimile prototype guns available for theatrical use, that look like "guns", but are not able to propel a bullet.

There could be a lot of questions regarding who made the decision for that particular gun, and why a decision was made to use a real gun, rather than a theatrical prototype.

Yup. And they're not even expensive:

Non Firing Western Replica Guns | Buy Colt 1873 Peacemaker Replica | Western Stage Props

I see no real excuse for using an actual firearm in rehearsal, even if you intended to use it in the final "take."

I think AB was absolutely involved in hiring. From everything I have read, this was HIS personal project. He chose the script personally, and he was the one that put it all in motion because it was a project that he thought he would have a great acting role in, and have an Indie hit.

There is no way that he didn't have input in the hiring. That is what the producer's direct role is----to help recruit applicants for the crew and then choose the best ones. At the very least, he signed off on it, IMO.
Here is how AB addressed that in the ABC interview (he was very excited to get HH for the film but knew nothing about her).

AB “I am a purely creative producer, my authorities as a producer are casting and script which are actually married to the role of being a lead actor in a film.
GS “so you’re not the kind of producer that’s looking at the line of each budget”
AB “ NO, no no no no. There are basically to types of producers who are in charge of production. People who raise the money and people who spend the money. My consultations and approval were strictly about casting and the script, I don’t hire anyone in the crew..”
GS “not even the cinematographer, no one?”
AB “no no, he will apprise me of what he is doing and he will say, ‘I got Halyna Hutchins to do the DPS, how do you feel about that, are you excited?”
“I’m very excited, she’s wonderful’”
GS “what did you know about Halyna Hutchins before she started working on this?”
AB “I knew nothing about her until Joel said I got her. She was fantastic”.

All I see when Alec cries is:

"And...scene."

Have we seen or heard MSM coverage stating
whether anyone on the Rust set had taken pix or video that captured AB, AB's hand, gun, or the shooting? Were any of the movie cams recording?
Anyone? If so, a link pls.TiA.

I'm not aware of any such material surfacing, and I check just about every day. There is this one picture that shows AB and others in the church. It has been labelled as having been taken just before the fatal shooting, but I have seen no verification of that assertion.

This is repulsive.

From the article

"I hope that you're as lucky as I am in one department and that you're home with your family. I'm home with my family. It's all I've got. The only thing that matters."

Very poor choice of words here. Since Halyna's family will be missing a wife, mother, daughter...

Seriously, AB, stop the pity party. And stop posting your every self centered thought on social media. Someone should take away his access to all social media accounts. Just my own personal opinion.

Grrr!
IMO, AB's "really tough time" is caused by his own self-absorption and grandiosity.

I think that Helena's son ( who has eyes just like his mother...see photo in article ) and husband are the one's going through the ''really tough time''. They are the one's who need support.

This 'simpering' on Social Media is not helping AB at all. He looks foolish and desperate, trying to repair 'his image'. He really needs to shut it down for awhile. IMO of course.

This is very misguided. He really isn't doing himself any favours. The only thing he should have said publicly was how sorry he was for Halyna and her family, after that he should have maintained complete radio silence imo.

In the complaint filed by the script supervisor, I believe it states that they were rehearsing, that the script did not call for a gun to be fired. You can see in the one photo we have that the camera operator is not Halyna, it's her assistant and he is not filming.

Alec said they weren't filming, the script supervisor says they were only rehearsing. So I doubt there's any video.

However there is another picture of more people being inside the church, it's on a youtuber's channel (guy with a British accent who is following the case from abroad, I believe). There appear to be about a dozen people in that picture. In the most-released picture, the young boy actor is present, but no one mentions him being present when the shooting took place (thankfully).

I do not think there's any verification that the picture we are so familiar with was taken immediately before the shooting.

The set owned a facsimile gun and in early reports, it was stated that there were three guns on the gun cart (the working Colt, a plugged Colt, and a replica rubber Colt). For the thing they were rehearsing, the replica would have been fine. DH says he didn't check the gun, so perhaps he thought he'd grabbed a different one. There are many ways for blame to be shared out in this shooting, and I figure it will take a jury as a trier of facts to get a sense of who is legally responsible.

Every single thing he posts, says, writes, or even his family, since the absolute second after that shooting can be documented and reviewed in minutea. The context can be used against him in civil or criminal proceedings.

Someone should really have a serious discussion with him, and everyone else connected with him, that now is not the time to express anything. Radio silence. I can't believe he is still posting anything after that train wreck interview.

The replica guns appear to have all the functionality you would need for any kind of rehearsal:

Replica Western Peace Maker - Nickel Finish

This Non-Firing Replica Gun feels and acts like a real Colt.
The perfect gun for learning and practicing fast draw, spinning and juggling.

Similar in size (10-1/4" overall with 4-3/4" barrel, and 2 lbs. weight) to the real thing but easier on the budget! No licenses, no permit required. It only looks real. You can open the cartridge feed gate, rotate the cylinder. Pull back the hammer and both trigger and hammer action work like Wyatt Earp's! Comes with wooden grips.

(Replica Western Peace Maker - Nickel Finish Currently out of stock)

Ninety bucks. For want of a nail ...

Right---that is what I said at the end of my post---'at the very least he signed off' on the hiring decisions.

He says above that he was 'apprised' of the cAsting decisions and is asked how he feels about them. So he was involved in that process. JMO

Exactly. He could just as well say, no don’t hire that person. He has the last word.

Agreed. Especially when he says he is 'ready' to move on and put it behind him........Sorry to break it to ya AB, but this thing isn't going away just yet...

And Christmas week he is speaking about being home with his family? How tone deaf can he be? How is HH's little boy and husband feeling this Christmas?

Exactly. Cue...tears!

Which is why he needs to "act" right now as quiet, respectful, and professional. No more self serving diatribes, or public displays of his grief and problems that have been caused because he killed someone. The narcissism is epic. All about AB! Oh, the grief he is going through! The PTSD!

He really needs a professional publicist at this point, to do clean up, case management, and be his spokesperson. Not unlike Travis Scott, who has been seen as respectful, sad, and recently gave away toys for Christmas. What is smart about Travis Scott, is that a "Spokesperson" for him isn't that newsworthy. And anything said by the Spokesperson is not directly from TS. Savvy.

With every comment, sm post, interview and statement, one would think AB is the victim in this horrifying and (IMO) inexcusable shooting.

His lack of compassion and empathy is truly mind-bending. I feel so badly for the true victims in this case, who should be allowed to grieve in peace without all this PR spin.

I agree with what many of my fellow sleuthers have posted: AB needs to STFU.

Alec Baldwin thanks supporters following "Rust" shooting in holiday message: "I'm very grateful"

Alec and Hilaria Baldwin Celebrate Christmas in the Hamptons with Their 6 Kids: 'Our Love to You'

And it continues...these folks just can't stop the constant media spotlight. Maybe, AB just doesn't get it, that posing his "perfect family Christmas in the Hamptons" in People magazine is not only tone deaf, it borders on being completely indifferent to the pain of Halyna's family.

Is it too much to ask that he have a Christmas with his family, without posting it on Social Media, and a People magazine spread?

Something just occurred to me that I hadn't realised, until I looked at this picture in the Christmas in the Hampton's article. I had overlooked the stressful reality, that AB is 63 years old, and he has six children from 8 months up to 8 years old!

So he has 6 kids under the age of 8, every day and night , while he is home, dealing with this crisis. I am sure he was usually spending a lot of time at work and on location. But now he is laying low at home, under stressful conditions.

I am in my late 60's---and I can't imagine having 6 very young children at home to raise. wow, I love my grand babies, but they tire me out fast these days. Having six at home now would be quite a task .

Props to the many grandparents who step up to the plate and raise their grandchildren. Much respect!
